I was going to post this in the existing Tsubasa thread, but it's three pages old and it's not really a Tsubasa discussion thread -- it just addresses a rumor regarding KuroFai being announced as canon. SO, onward!
This is a discussion thread for the possible slashyness of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, particularly that of Kurogane and Fai. Feel free to mention others pairings, though! CLAMP is slashy goodness no matter which way you look at it. =)
What I really wanted to mention, though, was that the english dub voice actors were recently announced.
Sakura - Monica Rial
Syaoran - Jason Liebrecht
Fai - Vic Mignogna
Kurogane - Chris Sabat
Mokona - Carie Savage
Yuuko - Colleen Clinkenbeard
Personally, the fact that Fai is Vic pisses me off. It's not that I don't think he's talented -- until I hear Fai, I can't say whether or not he'll do the voice justice. He is very talented, as we've seen with Edward Elric. But, Fai is very different from Ed.
What gets me is Vic's history with the slash thing. As Edward Elric, he gets harrassed by fangirls at cons, asking him constantly to say the "miniskirt" line in regards to Roy Mustang and thoroughly degrade himself. He does it every time, accompanied by a sarcastic remark, such as "What is wrong with you people?"
He then mentions at another con how completely frustrated he is that the fan humoring even got started, mentioning how much Roy's voice actor hates it as well. He laughs about it, but you can see he's completely serious. The fangirls are being disrespectful and taking advantage of him.
So I can't blame him at all for disliking the slash in FMA, with the crap he takes. But, RoyEd is a fan-created ship. Kuro/Fai is practically canon.
I'm scared about this dub because I don't want them to pull a notorious CLAMP dub move and erase all the yaoi subtext that is worked into the original anime and the manga. sad

Yeah, I dunno about Vic....can he be gay enough for Fai? If they take out the gay, we'll have to riot. With rainbow themed weapons. I still cry at night over what happened with the CCS English dub. The gay wasn't practically canon, it WAS canon. TT-TT

TT-TT I agree =( I had a good laugh over the fact that Touya, Yukito and Kero were casted with the VA's of Ed, Edd, and Eddy though. Hoo-boy! But yeah, what happened with CCS is what worries me about Tsubasa, because since they took out the homosexual undertones of CCS, the fangirls for Touya/Nakuru became rabid with denial that it could be any other way. I can just see it now. The Fai/Chii and Kuro/Tomoyo fans will be ecstatic. rolleyes

I'm a bit worried about that, but I love 'im as a voice actor enough to be all right with it if that happens... I'll probably let him off easy during the riot and just chuck a snowball at 'im... a colorful snowball... yeah.... Then I remember I heard everyone's voice in Japanese first, and it seems with every anime I've seen, I prefer the language I heard first, so I may end up not watching it in english much anyway. If that makes sense.... sweatdrop

Nellynae Then I remember I heard everyone's voice in Japanese first, and it seems with every anime I've seen, I prefer the language I heard first, so I may end up not watching it in english much anyway. If that makes sense.... sweatdrop You make perfect sense. =) I'm not going to be watching the dub much either, but I'm just worried about the backlash it'll have in the fandom. I'm afraid of the rise in numbers there'll be in the hetero couple ships, basically. (that's excluding Syaoran and Sakura, who I will love forever despite myself)

I'll give Vic the benifit of a doubt. I fell in love with his voice in Saiyuki as Kougajii and when I heard that he would be playing Ed I didn't think it would work too well, but he proved me wrong. But Fai is very differant from any other character I've seen him play, I'll give it a fair chance. Though I usually still prefer the japanese tracks to most the anime I watch, I have my list of favorite english voice actors and he's one of them. And he has a decent singing voice too! (random fact^^)
Also, Monica seems like a good choice for Sakura.

I'm just in love with Vic as a rule, but I do wonder about his role as Fai. Fai's rather feminine, and Vic's voice is rather... not. *cough* Plus, if Roy/Ed was bad, then the Kuro/Fai fans will... Oh dear lord. *shudder* I pray for him, I really do...
I feel bad for him with those crazy fangirls who go "ZOMG SAY THE MINI SKIRT LINE!" or something like that, it's almost a little embarrassing.

erryeah. I met vic once at a con, he seemed nice enough(got a pic with him DX?). but yeah. will not frikkin hesitate to shoot him down if he denies kurofai and the victition works and he comes to AN.
I swear I'll make him sign a picture of kuro and fai. close together. veeeery close.
