Ok, so sang for m schools talent show. I sang the classic "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell. And, don't get me wrong, the audience liked it but at times I felt I was a bit out of tune because that music was different than the orignal version.

Do you think karoke is helpful? Or does it mess you up when you sing along to it

I'm all for Karoke! I can't stand it when people sing right along with original versions for performances, because a lot of the time you can't even really here the persons voice, only the artist. And, for me at least, it's disappointing to see. I would practice just with the karoke version rather then the original and work out all the kinks before the show.

I did Karaoke twice before I learned how to play guitar. Once you learn, it just doesnt compare.

I love Karaoke! I'm always playing and singing with it!

I'm a pretty good classically trained vocalist, but I suck at karaoke, big time. I just don't have the right kind of voice, and it's different to sing with a mic.

i don't like kareoke because when people sing it, they always try to sing EXACTLY like the person singing in the recording. it just sounds so unoriginal. i'm all for covers, but you should make it your own. its already been sung their way once, make up an new way.

Kareoke dosen't help me at all I would rather sing along with the radio than try to sing it without the original singer, but some ppl are all for it. Besides when I sing with a mic I sound like a mouse , I'm not kidding !!

I don't really like karaoke much because I always end up comparing myself to the actual artist/singer so I prefer singing along the radio.

I hate lowered self-esteem.

I'm sure it helps to an extent. Doesn't help me though. xp

Karaoky is definately helpful since all we can hear is your voice not the original artist. but I like to listen to the music through some Ipod headphones
so I can still get the song down in my head.
and can hear myself sing aswell as understand the rhythm more.

Karaoke is a good way to understand the types of "fans" you will get. I am a singer and I meet lots of genres of people who will like you, and people who will hate you.

As far as learning to be original, karaoke might not be your best bet, unless you make the song your own and put passion into it.

And don't just make one song "good." Make EVERY song awesome with twists and such. I sing "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morisette, with lots of power, and I work the crowd.

It's nice to hear people say, "That was your best performance!!"

But I would rather hear, "I like all the songs you do!"
