God I used to be obsessed with that guy when I was younger... I used to impersonate him all the time... and I loved reptiles and stuff so that's one reason why I liked him so much. I can't even believe he died, it's not fair. It's so depressing.

The worst part about it is that his little girl was there with him. She watched him die that whole boat ride back to shore (1 hour).
It is really sad, I grew up watching him. emo

Steve Irwin left us all to soon. He was a great man known for his television show The Crocodile Hunter and his work with native Australian wildlife.
"If something ever happens to me, people are gonna say 'we knew a croc would get him!'" - Steve Irwin.
I have never really been a great Irwin fan, but I have always liked his show. Usually when famous people die, I'm like, 'meh, everyone dies,' but I was sad when I got to know that he died, and I still am. Maybe because he was such an amazing person. He brought us all eye to eye with the world's most dangerous animals, in a funny yet very interesting way.
We have all suffered a great loss. He didn't deserve to die.
May you rest in peace, Irwin, and thank you for everything. You are a true legend.

As much as I am sad that Steve Irwin died, I don't think Trocks will like this thread once she sees it's up here.

It sucks. He's been on TV ever since I can remember. I can't believe it was a sting ray coz sting ray deaths are real rare. And it wasn't even provoked(sp?) it was just a freak accident. I feel for his family.
This probably should have gone in the spam-age sub though.

I think he gave misrepresentation of Australia a boost, but I still loved him and will miss him.

Steve Irwin was once my hero as a little kid. Due to aussie vs. kiwi rifts most of us have a slight dislike for most aussies. But like most of their bands Steve Irwin was one person who touched our hearts. Or at least that's what I think. My little brother and I own two red-necked turtles and he (my brother)loves them to bits. Every so often while sitting at my computer I can see him and his friends with the turtles out of their pond and on the front lawn arguing over who is going to be Steve Irwin and who is going to be the camera crew and medics. (Kieran normally ends up being Steve because we own the turtles). Irwin, will be sorely missed around the world as we can see from above. He was a ground breaking researcher in both the feilds of reptiles, mammels and marsupials alike. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and all of the people that he has helped over the years.
((Can anyone recognise that I'm a journolism student from that post?!))
