Graceful crisis

PostPosted: Fri Aug 25, 2006 7:50 am

Well , I usually make my parents buy my manga . Or my father moslty .. My mummy is poor , and thinks it's a waste of money gonk
Today I'm sick, I've caught a horrible cold and I feel like s**t gonk
Normally I buy my weekly yaoi myself (I swear I'll go crazy if I don't get it gonk )
Today I asked my father if he would buy me Antique Bakery . Because I'd seen before that my usual bookstore sells it . Haven't bought it before because the pretty little 18+ isn't on rofl (I'm 15 sweatdrop )
I looked Antique Bakery up on the internet to make sure it wasn't anything too bad (read: 18+) . I found a site saying 13+ So I innocently thought I could ask him to buy that one without having to explain anything .
Then , when he came home he gave me a bag with it .
!16+ Young adults!
I freakin panicked and threw it into my room, stuttering I'd read it tonight . Damn you misinforming information gonk
My dad haven't said anything yet though .. I feel bad for having him buy a gay manga , what must the storekeeper have thought sweatdrop
I hope that I will never be confronted with this little episode >.>

Has this kind of thing happened to you?
And .. Am I making any sence at all ? emo

LOL. I've read 1-3 of Antique Bakery. I'd rate it 13+. LOL.
Very soft stuff.
Ive ever had parents to buy my yaoi manga. Like your mum, me mum thinks it is a waste of money, though cleary it isnt. LOL.
Ive had friends buy some of the 18+ when i was 17, even though i showed them my passport to show i was 18 next month i still wasnt aloud to buy things like Desire and Earthain. LOL.

My mum's bought it for me - 'cos I was too embarrassed! Lol. She didn't care at all - she even had a flick through it later on, she didn't look very impressed but still... smile

I've yet to let my parents know I buy yaoi. They know I'm buying stuff I don't want them to see but they don't know it's yaoi sweatdrop

I have my hippie friend get me my yaoi, she practically has a library in her room, and my mother found it. She flipped. Not pretty, not at all pretty...

I would be too afraid to ask my mom, I might ask my dad. Hes a Yuri fan. ='D

My dad is gay. My mom is a little... off. Thus I would have them buy it but I'd be afraid that they would keep it. And that would be scarring to an unbearable degree.

talk2hand My mom bought me Chobits (not yaoi, but also not appropriate) when I was thirteen or something. The labels on manga don't mean very much - they're a self imposed labeling system, so one company's 16+ is another's 13+. It's not that big a deal. I'm technically underage and I read 18+ manga in public all of the time.

My parents never buy my manga unless it's Christmas or my birthday. They give me my allowance and I buy it myself. I'd much rather buy my own stuff, as it stands. That way I can be sure that I get the right volume (even though when I bought King of Hell a few weeks ago, I got volume ten instead of volume nine. sweatdrop But that was because I hadn't bought any of that for the longest time...)

Both of my parents have bought me manga, and my dad knows of my obsession with yaoi and yuri. My mom is starting to catch on though. Both of my parents are okay with it though and buy yaoi for my sister and I on a regular basis.

My mom once picked me up a copy of only the ring finger knows manga which I think was really nice of her for picking me the manga up from the bookstore after I special ordered it. She hasnt picked me up any 18+ manga but I would rather pick it up myself instead.

I have all 4 volumes of Antique Bakery, and it's not really that bad. Suggestive yes, and there are a couple areas that parents might look at funny, but it's still good.

Personally, I've never had anyone else buy me yaoi manga. I don't have that much of it anyways. I've had my mom buy me regular manga a couple times, but I bought the yaoi ones myself. My mom, knows I think, cause when I was first getting into manga, I was reading Gravitation and was like, what would you think if I told you I was reading a book about two guys who are gay? and she made somesort of negative comment about it, but now... well, I defend my beliefs I guess and she doesn't like it, but she hasn't seen my actual yaoi manga. She thinks it's a waste of money. I was told her it's better than me taking up drugs since I had nothing better to do...

Then again, I supoose that's the difference between 15 and 19. I still hide things like the pictures (and videos), stories I write and read, on my computer, and the manga I read, but I feel... safer? About it. I mean really, I lent the woman one of my vampire romance novels over the summer and she told me she didn't think I should be reading them bescause of the sex! I don't think she's gunna be any more pleased that I like to read books with *pictures* of two guys having sex.

My mom doesn't care what I read. And in Montana, they don't check your age for just buying a book. ********' SWEET.

I still feel compelled to hide it, but I think that's just the porn instinct kicking in.

I know that if and when I buy yaoi or yuri or really any anime, I do it on my own time. But that's because I'm a secluded, quite person. I like my privacy, whether it's with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure or Desire.

I always buy yaoi manga from the internet, so there is no need for me to ask my parents to buy me yaoi.
Besides, in my country there's almost no bookshop that sells manga, let alone yaoi manga...
