Nebelstern illyrianth Someone came up with a post in ED (although the gods alone know why) that she hated pet rocks. I pointed out that in hating them so much, they were providing a useful function in preventing cruelty to animals...This is achieved by their taking the place of the cat in "kick the cat syndrome". And it kinda went on from there, Invi and I making very good comments in relation to the nature of wild rocks, such as those found roaming the expanses of Dartmoor, to clump together at the sides of roads in order to make themselves look bigger and therefore more threatening to Chavs and the like. At which point, the original creator of the thread ran away. Ah, nostalgia... xd Looking at the pictures I posted at the top, how did they manage to find rocks that naturally smooth? Or are they *gasps* man-made? gonk
They're probably sea-smoothed pebbles. You know, the sort you just have to pick up when you see them on the beach because they're so round and smooth and perfect and they fit in your hand just right... but then you see another one and pick it up but on the other side there's a little dent with some dried seaweed in and you're overcome with disappointment and disgust... Or is that just me?

No, no... I mean it's not as if the people here are more sane than you. Quite the contrary.
I have doubts though as to the smoothness of them. It actually looks a bit like an egg, does it not? Veery suspicious...

Not quite egg-shaped... although it is odd that the one in photo and the picture on the cover of the book are so similar. They're almost too uniform to be natural...

Once you have finished with your pet rock it goes back in time and they sell it again. Cuts down on manufacturing costs.
