I've recently discovered the distorted crackjoy music that is indie rock.

So far I've got some Animal Collective, which has to be the most screwed up band in the world. And some of The Arcade Fire's stuff. And last of all, Panda by Deerhoof.

I don't know how many of you have been introduced to this strange and blissfull form of music, but it's weird.
Being goth, as per the musical definition, part of me feels guilty for listing to this sort of music. The other part bitchslaps that part and goes and dances to Animal collective.
It's so very conflicting.

Anywho, you should most definitly check it out... Don't start with Panda.

this is indie too...they're called get set go... here's the lyrics:
i've been thinking about drinking drain-o
a nice big glass to make all my pain go
some where some else some where i can find it
i've been thinking bout eating bullets
the sweet sweet relese of the trigger as i pull it
and bury a bullet somewhere deep inside
suicide, suicide, suicide, suicide
i've been contemplating hanging
a kick of the chair and my feet are dangling
and all of my worries dissapear tonight
and i've been stumped on the thought of jumping
how high must i climb for a fatal dumping
of all of my worries and woes over the side
suicide, suicide, suicide, suicide
there's no more reason to cry
oh suicide, suicide,suicide,suicide

"Indie" meaning "independent", meaning they aren't signed to a major label?

Or "indie" referring to a genre?

I like quite a bit of both.

A bit of one, a bit of the other, and a bit that fits the bills of both.

Ok, so so far I've got some Pavment, some Animal Collective, The Flaming Lips, The Arcade Fire, Deerhoof, Broken Social Scene, and Sonic Youth.

Overally, I'd have to say it's pretty kicking music.

Yeah, it's pretty freaking amazing. Not to mention the title has to be one of the best ever.

Yes. It really does.

There's not one dull song on that album.

I can listen to it all the way through and never have the desire to skip a track.

That's the sign of a good album.

If you want to hear some great indie, pick up the album "No Cities Left" by "The Dears". They're one of the best indie bands I've ever heard. If you want to buy a sample from iTunes (or something of the like), definitely download "22: The Death of All Romance".

I hate indie because of the indie kids at school.

They think because they listen to indie that their opinions actually matter to me and procede to make several statements without knowing anything about the ******** pseudo intellectuals. mad
