I have a real problem losing weight because I spend the vast majority of my time with my girlfriend (we live together now, so...) And she has the opposite problem that I do. She has ulcers & a lot of other stuff to deal with, so gaining weight is really difficult for her. It also prevents her from doing a lot of physical activity so it limits the stuff that we can do together. I just don't know what to do about it.

Hmm that is a rather difficult situation. I live with my boyfriend and he's a postman, so he eats alot more than me but, exercises it off...which annoys me, because I want to eat the same thing but can't because I will gain weight -which is way I probably am the weight I am now.
You could try to, depending on your situation, plan meals seperately. So that your's has less calories and can mean over time you will lose weight, and hers have more calories to help her gain. Though this could be difficult, as I have found, if my partner is eating something - I want it as well.
You may need to spend a little time away from each other, As I have found, It's the only way to make me stop eating as much. Possibly, you could go for a walk, some exercise a few times a week to help keep the weight off. At the moment I am looking for work, so in the morning I do half an hour of jumping about/aerobics and then I walk for an hour or so - anything cardiovascular will be good - even if it is just a short walk.
Also maybe for snacks instead of things with more calories like chocolate etc, if you have fruit and veg - make sure you have variety and they are ones you really like so you don't get bored.
