In your opinion, what is the quintessential yaoi couple? The epitome of all that is yaoi?
In my opinion? Shuichi Shindou and Eiri Yuki (duh).

Ex: Shuichi is the quintessential uke, ergo he is the ultimate uke. 3nodding I'm a fecking living dictionary. But besides Shuichi and Yuki... mm, I'd have to say Dee and Ryo.

Dee and Ryo more so than Eire and Shuichi. Those two are more mature.
(My liking of Gravitation has more to do with the crazy a** humor than the couples in it.)

i'll go for ryo and dee too since they are the only "official" yaoi couple i can completely tolerate.
now if we're going into fan-based couples, i'd say he couples from gundam wing like trowa and quatre (can they really be considered fan-based?) or heero and duo.
and yes... everything in my mind leads back to gundam wing. mrgreen

Hand down, it has to be Katou and Iwaki from Haru wo Daiteita aka Embracing Love. They're both a strong masculine presence. They care about each other. The switch on occassion, they're in stupid love with each other. They're functional, hard-working adults in love and at peace with themselves (mostly). They make such a good couple, that's what makes them so great and thus, my all time favorite couple ^_^

Hmmm... that is a tough one, so many different ways to look at it. Dee/Ryo and Yuki/Shuichi fit the mark in different ways, but I am tempted to say Eclipse/Raenef (ala Demon Diary), although it isn't 100% canon (but it's pretty damn close).

fanbase wise I will have to go old school (not really) and say Kurama and Hiei. Nothing beats a good Hiei and Kurama. Not matter who is the Uke or seme. It really doesn't matter.
Real ones: Damn I have to go with my fellow Gravi fans and say Yuki/Shuichi . 3nodding
I agree with lurkindarkness though just too many to look at.
