There were these two guys in my science class, they like to pretend they are gay in order to try and scare people or whatever. I found this highly annoying. I know it was just playfull guestures, but what about the people who are acctually gay. Im sure that gays would also understand that these guys were just playing, but these dudes act like it is such a horrible thing.
I wanted so bad to just go up to them and say "Ooooh >.< I just love guyxguy." That would make them shut up, but I don't know.

Im sorry if this doesn't belong here, and I know it isn't very important. I just found it interesting that they thought what they were doing was gross.
Pluss Im sure half of the girls in the class might have been chuckling to themselves.

Has anyone else noticed these type of things?

Yes, this thread is stupid, and it is a very light subject that should not bother anyone, but it called my attention.

i don't think that its stupid ....it is really annoing when people do that because they make it seem like been a gay person is bad and its not.

You never know. I remember, when I was in high school and in drama, we were doing a play. These two guys used to always pretend to be gay, and would always hug each other and act really cutesy with each other and be really obvious about it. Everyone was always like "Oh, haha, look and X and Y....they're pretending to be gay, it's so funny." They were really cool and everyone liked them.

It occurred to me later that it wasn't a joke. They really WERE gay, but wisely figured out that they could get away with whatever they wanted if they were so open about it people had to think they were joking (after all, who would ever dare be so bold?) I doubt that's what's going on here with you, but your story brought back fond memories of these two funny, witty guys who outsmarted all of us (even me, though I was still a little in the closet tranny then.)

Wow, that's really kind of awesome. Although I have to say that I think it's a little sad that somebody being so open like that is automatically passed off as a joke because people assume that such an open relationship could not- or should not- exist genuinely without any strings attatched, if you will. But that's just me.

More power to those too, though.

Anyway. Moving right along. I think that it's frustrating how some guys act that way, doing the whole wrist flap or lisping more than somebody with five teeth- or a particularly large tongue. It's a negative stereotype that runs rampant, but that's only due to the immaturity of those individuals. So just blame other people's stupidity and be done with it. It's a catch-all solution to a lot of socialistic problems, really.

Although, like Kitsune-chi said, it is very sad that people thought it was a joke.

It is a lot different once you reach College believe me. People in my generation or lower are mostly now so cool with gay people it is amazing. I mean I do hear thing like f** or Gay from people, but they usually turn around and automaticly apologize for it trying to not use the words any more. I find it to be great. They also don't find being affectionate with those of the same sex bad at all. All the homophobia I see either comes from the adults or is taught by them. Times are changing though. Even the religious elites are accepting gays, well at least where I live.

there were these two guys in MY science class like that. only really i think they might be gay. but anyways i don't have aproblem with people joking about other people's beliefs or feelings or anything. like white people pretending to be black. i think as long as you're not doing it to be a b***h and aren't acting like a jerk then it's like, whatever, you're having fun, do what you want. i personally don't see why people get so offended by small things but that might just be because i've been insulted so much i realise now a lot of it were just jokes and now i laugh along with them.
like the 'niki you look like such a guy' stuff and 'niki you're so perverted/retarded/and idiot' it's just something you shrug off.

hmm. <.<;

When I was in lower school it was always girls who'd pretend to be lesbians or at least bi-curious ('cos apparently "it makes the guys want you more!" *sigh*). rolleyes

And on other, OT issues, Drakon_Luther is right that times are changing when it comes to attitudes towards homosexuality. I mean 5 years ago when those girls were pretending to fancy each other the boys wouldn't have dared do it with that much seriousness. But now my little brother's in the same year (ie. grade) and there's a couple of boys who are openly gay. It's like a mini revolution. Lol.

Last year in my Drama class the same thing was happing, but with these four gays(but for the most part, it was two) they were not gay and they are popluer(sp?). They were making fun of gays to get a laugh and everyone was laughing. I found it wrong and mean for these people to be making fun of gays and doing right infront of me when they know I'm gay. So for those four,I walked up to them at the last class of the year and told them that what they were doing I found was wrong and I did not find it funny and would the please. next they think of doing it again if they could think about the people who are gay and don'nt like it to stop. So I say you should tell these guys(if you see them again) that you don't like it and to please stop
