"Talk." 'Thoughts.' When Ophelia had asked him about a date for her best friend Oliver jumped at the opportunity to spend more time with her. Until he realized he didn’t have many male friends to set the pink-haired goddess’ friend up with. He considered his brother momentarily but didn’t want to torture anyone with the buzzkill’s presence. Plus he could only imagine his brother’s reaction to his current partner. He tended to be harsh when it came to his siblings’ choices. It didn’t help that Oliver was already engaged to begin with. The whole situation was enough to make anyone’s head spin. But the prince didn’t want to worry about anything to deal with him and his kingdom tonight so he invited the only other male he knew; Jack.
“Thanks again for doing this for me. I wouldn’t have asked if it wasn’t so important. But I want Ophelia to think I’m serious, you know?” He spoke to Jack as they walked into the bar together. He wasn’t sure how the ice prince felt about the arrangement but he was grateful he agreed. Oliver’s kind offer of an open tab for him might have helped but the Windurian Prince liked to think it was Jack showing he cared.
When Jack had asked Oliver about his prospective date Oliver wasn’t sure what to say at the time. He hadn’t met any of Ophelia’s friends before, that was partially why he wanted the night to go so well. The Prince figured the girl had to be pretty amazing to be best friends with Ophelia. The girl made the room sparkle whenever she entered it. Her sunshine smile made Oliver do whatever she asked, not that she knew that by any means.
The prince had not told Ophelia many things in an effort to preserve the sanctuary they had created. He worried once she found out about his engagement whatever had been progressing between the two, would surely come to a halt. Jack had assured him that was most likely the case as well which led to Oliver trying to avoid his fiance. He regretted something but wasn’t ready to discuss it with others who didn’t understand the meaning of overbearing parents.
”It looks like there’s a table for four over there. Let’s get some drinks and go grab it.” He gestured at one of the open tables not seeing their dates yet. Even though he knew how Ophelia felt about him, the idea of seeing her and her seeing him made his heart race. He looked over at his friend, unsure still how he felt about the idea of all this. ”If you’re worried at all. I am sure you are going to love her. Or she will love you. They always do, don’t they?” Oliver teased.
Jack's ability to pick up women was no joke. He had seen it firsthand as women who seemed to have no feelings whatsoever, seemingly warmed up to him and would see him later in the evening. His confidence with the opposite sex was something the prince envied. ”Plus, I’m treating today. So help yourself to the bar.” He gestured back at the bar.

Ivan couldn’t explain his unlikely friendship with the Windurian prince beside him. He was sure it was the boy’s ability to chip under his hardened skin and find refuge in reminding Ivan of his younger siblings that did it. With their unmatched innocence and modest life struggles. Each time the boy walked into Ivan’s unofficial man cave - A well-hidden spare room Ivan claimed by decorating it to his liking with stolen furniture and art from the school gallery.- He did well enough keeping pace with Ivan’s drinking problem to convince him to sit and listen to Oliver splurge about his issues with the lollypop girl who managed to wrap him around her finger. Noticing how Oliver tiptoed around a topic one night, Ivan finally got the man to spit out whatever had been on his mind. Initially, he hesitated at the thought of joining the two and Lollipops' friend… He wasn’t exactly the warmest companion. But then again, thinking about the brat he had recently been stuck in the training room with? He figured he wouldn’t mind throwing back a couple of drinks and finding a woman to bury into. Even if it wasn’t Lollipop's friend, he was sure he could find another woman at the establishment. “Thanks again for doing this for me. I wouldn’t have asked if it wasn’t so important. But I want Ophelia to think I’m serious, you know?” Ivan nodded absently, too busy scanning the building they approached to pay attention to what Oliver said. The sound of music thumping in the background could be heard from outside, but as they passed the threshold, the smell of alcohol and sweat wafted towards them; bodies moved about the dimly lit establishment, some collected on the dancefloor while others huddled around their tables. His eye instantly noticed his favorite liquor spotlighted comfortably on the highest shelf behind the bar, a thin layer of dust coating it. He would be putting Oliver's offered tab to good use tonight. ”It looks like there’s a table for four over there. Let’s get some drinks and go grab it.” Following Oliver’s line of sight, he noticed the open table nestled into the corner. Sadly it looked far enough from the band that small talk was inevitable… He would need to get at least two bottles down his gullet before the girls arrived if he was going to be in a, quote, unquote,“ pleasant mood ”. It wasn’t often that Ivan cared to try and impress someone, but since the man he accompanied seemed so dead set on dragging out his ticking time bomb of a relationship, he would try his best not to aid in its detonation. ”If you’re worried at all. I am sure you are going to love her. Or she will love you. They always do, don’t they?” A confident, crooked half-smile splintered over his lips, enjoying the praise. “Bedding them is my specialty. The troubles of love can stay.” He gestured towards Oliver and then made a shooing motion. “Far avay. ” The confusing thought of giving a woman the power to alter everything a man stood for was a foreign concept to him. “ But I vill do my best to impress Lollipops girlfriend for your sake.” Then there were the two magic words Ivan wanted to hear: Open bar. A laugh rumbled from his chest as he smacked an open hand against Oliver’s back. “ That I vill.” Turning his attention to the bar, he caught sight of a man stumbling beside them. The two drinks in his hand sloshing about as he attempted to get past them, bumping against Ivan's shoulder in the process. Ivan didn’t budge, instead, his shoulder jerked forward to slam into the man and twist him around. ”HEY!” He yelped as Ivan’s hands moved to snatch the drinks away from him. If the drunk male planned on arguing, It only took one long chilling glare from Ivan for him to slink away, mumbling something about keeping the drinks. Ivan turned, pleased with himself for saving the drinks, passing one chilled glass into Oliver's hands and tapping it with his own. “First drinks on him.” Smirking, he brought the glass to his lips and swallowed the amber-colored liquid in one gulp. It was sweeter than he would have liked, but it did its job of setting his stomach ablaze. After spending a few minutes at the bar, Ivan finally made his way over to the table with two large bottles of liquor balanced in one hand and three smaller glasses in the other. He passed the smaller bottle and glasses off to his companion as he settled into his seat, trailing his free hand down the neck of his own bottle to coat the glass in intricate swirling frost. Before drinking his head dipped down to speak to Oliver “ If the girls do not make it.” He started, pointing to the crowded dance floor where three girls swayed on the outer edge. Two blonds grinding against the taller redhead sandwiched between them. “ Those girls offered to let you practice more.” As though on cue, the in the center winked before blowing Oliver a kiss. tab Alosa had been spending a lot of time with her new friend Ophelia, so when she was asked if she wanted to go on a double date with her, she was more than happy to. She knew that the other girl found herself infatuated with her dancing partner so she wanted to help however she could. She didn’t know who was going to be there to meet her, but she was excited to meet them. If they were friends with Oliver they must be just as kind! Although she knew that sometimes opposites attracted in friendships. Either way she didn’t mind at all! She had gotten ready in her dorm, going to meet Ophelia before they went to the bar.
tab She had her arm wrapped around Ophelia’s as they walked in, her expression that of almost pure happiness. ” I can’t wait to meet them!” her friend had talked up Oliver so much that the Stillcidlium princess felt like she already knew him. She was happy that Ophelia and Orby found someone else they could trust, especially after the whole fiasco in dance class. At least he was gentleman enough to take care of her when she didn’t have her bearings together. Alosa gently squeezed Ophelia’s arm and smiled as she looked around the bar. ” I wonder if I’ll know him! There’s a possibility.” the princess was known to be very friendly and she met a lot of different people even those outside of her kingdom, and it was hard for her to forget faces.
tab When she looked around the bar her eyes landed on a pair at a table. She immediately recognized one of them as Oliver. Tall, dark skin and those stunning blue eyes. She let go of Ophelia’s arm as she motioned towards him. ” There’s Oliver!” she pointed, her eyes having moved back to her friend. When she looked back at the table, there was another male there. He looked oddly familiar from behind but when he sat down and she saw his face she froze. She recognized him! Her pink eyes lit up, her hands coming together in an excited clap. ” Oh! I know him!” she had been half joking when she mentioned she might know the person, but here she was being proven right. She turned to Ophelia with a smile before they approached, slight hesitation creeping into her gaze. ” I was once engaged to him, he’s a prince of a neighboring country. I still don’t know why the whole thing got called off, but it’s been forever since I’ve seen him last.” she explained, not wanting her friend to be confused in case it came up.
tab Alosa then turned and waved over to them, walking up with Ophelia and smiling. ” Hello! Nice to see you again.” she spoke politely to Oliver, as she wasn’t officially introduced to him yet, she didn’t want to come off as weird. She then turned to Ivan, a familiar expression on her face. ” And I haven’t seen you in forever! Ivan, right?” she asked him cheerfully, her only giveaway that she was nervous about meeting him being her hands held together behind her back. She still didn’t know why the Hyouden kingdom called things off suddenly, and she was disappointed because she had a good time with him. Aside from him not being used to the temperatures in her kingdom he was fun to hang around, he even dealt with her foolishness when it came to her powers. Ophelia's fingers plucked nervously at the tight material sticking to her thighs forcing the patterned fabric to bunch at her waist, then promptly pressing it back down. She repeated the action over and over again, counting the seconds of the setting sun. Most of her evening was spent ripping her closet to shreds, trying to find a cute outfit before ultimately settling on something well-suited for nightlife. At least, what she thought people gallivanting around at night might wear. This would be her first time out after dark in a long time. At the thought, her stomach flipped, realizing the situation she had willingly put herself in, but this was her idea, and she would be damned if she let a little darkness scare her from enjoying the date. It was far more important that she properly introduced the two people who were becoming fast-growing pillars in her life.
Alosa found her side just as the sun fell behind the horizon, Orby highlighting her friend just enough so that Ophelia could get a good look at her- and wasn’t she absolutely breathtaking? The man Oliver brought along would surely fall in love the moment she walked into the room! Her Long, silky brown and pink hair cascaded over a classy gown, everything highlighting her bright rose-colored eyes. Oh how she hoped this evening went well, her friend deserved it. When they arrived, Ophelia was sure to keep a tight hold on Alosa’s arm as they walked inside the building. She couldn’t hold back the flood of nerves from dampening her excitement. The room was so dark… casting Intimidating shadows that danced and pulsed to the music outside of the small spotlight Orby provided. Swallowing down a calming breath she turned to her friend, a well-practiced smile plastered over her lips, completely unwilling to let her nervousness show. But the sight of her radiant friend’s smile and reassuring touch allowed a true one to break through, her companion's pure excitement like a rejuvenating rain trickling over her and reminding her that she could do this. Facing the dark wasn’t as bad when you had people who cared about you close by. “ You’ll love them. I’m sure Oliver keeps great company, and if you happen to know him? Even better!” She beamed up at her friend, impatiently watching as her eyes scanned the crowded building. With it being so late and dim inside, she knew she wouldn’t be able to see what was going on, but she trusted Alosa to locate the duo and get them there safely.
“ There’s Oliver! ” The sound of his name sent Ophelia’s heart pitter-pattering against her ribcage. Head snapping to the side, straining to find those warm blue eyes looking back at her. But it was all so dang dark that all she was met with was more shadows. Was it wrong to feel an immediate pang of jealousy? Forever knowing she wouldn’t be the first to see Oliver across a room of crowded people. She tried to imagine him sitting comfortably at a table, leaning back and laughing with another friend as he brought a cool drink to his lips. Maybe his gaze would eagerly flick towards the door every so often, hoping to catch their arrival. Was that what he would be doing right now? It was a perplexing feeling but her friend's excited clap brought her back, Alosa’s bright eyes widening as she exclaimed that she knew the man sitting with Oliver.
“Oh that’s great news!” Her voice was a spirited giggle, excited that this night would surely go off without a hitch if her friend was so excited! Though she didn’t understand the workings of higher royalty, she hoped a called off engagement didn’t mean bad blood. But honestly, she lacked any proper knowledge on the subject, strictly cut off from that side of court life when she lost her eyesight since no one wanted to be hitched to a burden. Shaking the thoughts from her head, she bumbled behind Alosa, keeping her fingers tangled in the tulle of her dress to maintain contact as they made their way through the crowd. Once their steps slowed, she took a moment hidden behind her friend to comb her fingers through the tight curls of her hair and calm her pounding heart. “ Hello! Nice to see you again.” Ophelia peaked around Alosa as she spoke to catch a glimpse of Oliver, a blush already creeping over her cheeks. He was as handsome as ever and nearly just as she imagined him to be, but she only got to enjoy his stunning features for a moment before the sharp lines on his face had become blurred, Orby floating dimly over the table, not managing to cast enough light for the poor girl to properly see. ” And I haven’t seen you in forever! Ivan, right?”
Moving to scoot around Alosa, her fingers trailed the table, using it as a guide to take her closer to Oliver and wrap her fingers around his. She bent down, ready to plant a small kiss on his cheek, when she realized introductions should come first. “Oh yes, Oliver, this is my dearest friend Alosa she was with me before dance class, you remember?.” She released his hand to flutter her fingers between them, using the motion to release all that nervous energy pent up inside. Then her attention skipped to the new murky male sitting across from her; smiling brightly, she started to introduce herself. “And Ivan, I’m Ophelia, I'm so excited to-” “пизда рулю - It’s Jack.” The male's cold voice sliced through her words as his bottle slammed down on the table, kicking her out of her sentence and making her jump. Ophelia stuttered, weary gaze flicking to Alosa as the blood drained out of her face. Was she really already making a mess of things? Her friend had called him Ivan, hadn’t she? No, this was definitely her own fault; she must have heard wrong. Remembering how her hearing sometimes becomes finicky when significantly lacking sight. She tried again, her voice a little less confident than before. “ Oh, I’m Sorry. Jack it’s nice to meet yo-” “ No apologies.” He cut her off again, her swallowed words feeling like glass as she defeatedly plopped down in the seat next to Oliver. “You do become like those you keep in company, and Alosa is…How we say.. выпердыш.” Orby moved closer while he spoke, giving Ophelia enough light to see the smile cross Jack's lips as the unfamiliar word tumbled from his mouth while the rest of his face remained hardened. Piercing eyes boring into Alosa, only breaking away to bring the frosted bottle back to his lips. She didn't think that strange word was a compliment.
Squinting her eyes, Ophelia tried to focus on Jack, attempting to get a better look at the ribbons of light floating around him. “You got a problem?” A spark of red flashed around him, sending a sharp tang of fear skittering up her spine. “ Oh.. N-no I just. I can’t see well.” She explained weakly. But Orby didn’t seem open to sharing any more emotion, deciding that it would apparently be more helpful to keep Ophelia in the dark. The sound of a popping cork brought her back, watching as Jack poured two glasses of liquid and narrowly caught hers as he slid one over to each of them. Feeling the weight of the room pressing down on her, she looked between Oliver and Alosa. It was important to keep the conversation flowing but didn’t believe bringing up Jack and Alosa’s relationship would be the best topic. “ We didn’t keep you waiting long, did we?” Her voice was soft as she brushed her free hand against Oliver’s in a desperate attempt to feel warm again. Trying to find some solace in the fact Jack hadn't interrupted her this time around... Maybe he just preferred the company of quieter women. She could be that if it meant keeping the peace between everyone.

"Talk." 'Thoughts.' Oliver wasn't exactly sure how he felt about Jack referring to Ophelia as "Lollipop Girl". sure she was as sweet as candy and being around her made him smile so much that his mouth hurt but that was neither here nor there. Before he could comment on the ice prince's remarks though he was beelining to the bar to get a drink. The man screaming "HEY" was enough to make Oliver jump back a bit but Jack stared him down to the point where the drunk has slinked away in embarrassment. Oliver couldn't help but marvel at how intense Jack was, there was no way Oliver could be that intimidating if he tried.
Oliver nodded as Jack handed him the cold beverage, tempted to say thanks but then remembering it was him who was paying for them all. He took a sip and immediately gagged at the dark brown drink. He attempted to smile through the burning pain going down his throat but was sure that Jack could tell that he was out of his comfort zone for sure. "Mmm. Delicious burning." he mumbled as Jack handed him the smaller bottle. Jack was taking full advantage of the promise of an open tab tonight that was for sure, Oliver was just hopeful it was his mother that got the bill and not his brother or father.
“ If the girls do not make it. Those girls offered to let you practice more.”
The Windurian Prince looked over at the girls that Jack was referring to and sheepishly waved. His face got hot as the redhead blew him a kiss. He wondered if somehow Jack had placed them there as an attempt to boost his confidence somehow. Either way, Oliver was focused in on one girl now. After he had slipped up the first day of meeting Ophelia he realize how awful it was to both Ophelia assume negative intention after she had not met him that night and to Fio who he felt like he used in a way to help feel better about himself and his worth. "I appreciate the gesture but I assure you, I only have eyes for one woman. I don't know how you manage the arrangements you have." He remarked, quickly looking away from the group and sitting down.
As if on cue he saw Ophelia walk through the door with a bubbly brunette. He looked over at Jack who looked like a wolf ready for his next meal and worried he had made a mistake inviting him here but ultimately figured whatever jerk remarks Jack made, would make Oliver look kinder by comparison in his cotton candy-haired beauty's eyes. Alosa was unfortunately a casualty in the war of love. He waved Ophelia and her friend over unsure if they saw him but then making eye contact with Ophelia. He felt his heart stop for a moment, forgetting to breathe as he took another sip of his drink. The taste somehow sweeter now that she was in the room.
As the girl introduced herself, he tried to remember what she meant when she said again before recalling when he first met Ophelia. She was the brunette that his lady was with that day. He didn't remember much about her but based off meeting her she seemed nice enough. Ophelia offered further clarification and the girl's name so Oliver didn't embarrass himself trying to guess. He gave her a grateful smile, hiding a small blush as he spoke. "Yes, Alosa! Ophelia says such nice things about you. It's wonderful to officially meet." He smiled, looking over at Ophelia with a welcoming smile, as she interlocked their fingers together. He looked longingly at her as if to say "I'm so glad you could make it." without saying any words at all, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
Things then got sour as the new face referred to his pal by the wrong name. Jack was quick to correct Alosa before switching to his native tongue as Ophelia introduced herself. Oliver wasn't sure what was going on but understood wanting to be called the right name. He noticed Ophelia's scared face at Jack's tone and was quick to offer his hand again as she apologized. She didn't need to as it wasn't her fault for the misunderstanding but that was just the way she was, too kind for her own good. Oliver was shocked with how harsh he was being towards the two after promising nothing but kindness unless negging was the way he intended on bedding Alosa tonight. Either way, it didn't excuse the way he was treating Ophelia.
"Ivan? I'm afraid you're mistaken this is Jack. Unless you've got a secret twin you've been hiding from me!" he joked, punching his friend in the arm feeling the temperature seemingly drop in that moment. He attempted to laugh it off, shooting a quick glare at Jack telling him to knock it off. He let Ophelia explain her companion, well he was less than happy about Orby's currently red aura he hoped it would soon lie and change to a green to lighten Ophelia's spirits.
“ We didn’t keep you waiting long, did we?”
Oliver smiled at Ophelia's attempt to lighten the mood, gripping her hand in his once more and squeezing it. "Not at all, Jack just got us the drinks for tonight." he said cheerfully, kissing Ophelia behind her ear and whispering, "You're doing great." before giving her another quick kiss on the cheek and returning to the conversation. "Speaking of, since you two don't really know each other I was thinking we could play a drinking game from one of our kingdoms. Alosa, Jack any fun suggestions?" He offered, attempting to break the deep barrier of ice that had been created.

"I knew you as Ivan, don't be rude about it." Ivan's gaze narrowed on Alosa, trying to remind her how small she was, a silent threat to keep her mouth shut. Though, as per usual with the ditzy girl he remembered, his warning seemed to go completely unnoted. " And I'm not self-righteous; don't be a p***k, you vyperdysh." As she snapped the insult back, the prince was forced to swallow the urge to wrap his hands around her slim throat for daring to speak his kingdom's language as though she had any right to it. But her childish sass was enough to quell the beast within him temporarily. At least she knew how to fight back; that would make for a fun chase later when no one was around. The punch to his arm was meant to be a friendly joke, but with his bubbling frustration and cold stomach, Ivan was forced to exchange his urge to throw his own punch back at Oliver with a deep pull of sweetened whisky into his mouth. The plummeting temperature turned the mixed liquor to slush on his tongue, forcing a grimace at how cheap the establishment Oliver picked really was. Watering down their high-priced liquor should be a death sentence. "Speaking of, since you two don't really know each other, I was thinking we could play a drinking game from one of our kingdoms. Alosa, Jack any fun suggestions?"Swallowing the snow, he leaned to the side and placed his empty bottle on the floor. A superstition in Hyouden to never leave open bottles on the table or bad fortune befall you. Cracking open the next, he requested a waiter leave three empty shot glasses on the table. "In my country, we must finish one bottle as a group before games start to bring good favor." he filled the shots and passed them out as he spoke. And once everyone held their drink to the sky. " За здоровье" The Hyouden call was a cheer before reaching out to tap his bottle against his drinking companion's glasses and swallow it down in a long fatal gulp. Disappointment washed over his features as he watched the other three cringe beneath the friendly whisky bite. Oliver appeared to fight the liquid in his throat, struggling to keep it down. Who's idea was it to drink if these three couldn't handle one shot? "Maybe, I finish bottle." He offered, though that meant only good fortune would come to him. Chugging what remained of the bottle, he took a moment to let the alcohol swirl in his stomach and spread into his bones. Relief from the warm friend seeped into his bloodstream as the alcohol settled, helping to lift his icy mood now that two bottles sat in his stomach. "Ve play, Truth or Drink. It is simple game; you ask the table a question to learn more about them. If you don't wish to answer." He held up his third bottle as though it was the same as the chilled glasses in their hands. "You drink whole glass." It was the fastest way Ivan knew he could get even more plastered. Not that he cared what these people thought; he just wanted to get as drunk as possible, and all he had to do was keep his secrets. The group only went through a few awkward rounds before the teasing and joking began, and the lightweights managed to keep pace with Ivan's bottle buzz each time they threw back their tiny half-shots. Somehow- Alosa managed to weasel her way closer to him without notice; in Ivan's drunken state, he became more apathetic, not taking as much offense as he typically would have. It wasn't like he could do anything about her forced proximity with the growing crowds in the room, much less with Oliver and Lolipop so close by. He would deal with her later; for now, he could allow himself to relax into her involuntary closeness, maybe even feed into it if he got enough bottles down. Opting to drink instead of answering the silly question Oliver waisted during his turn, Ivan's gaze slid to the side. His eyes trailed the silk black buttons on Alosa's dress that bled seamlessly into the drunken flush coating her pale skin, not failing to notice how well she had filled out since he last dealt with her. Shaking his head, he let the bottle fall from his lips to slam it on the table. " Alright, my turn." he called, Leaning back into his chair, his free hand lazily loosened the buttons at the top of his shirt before balancing his elbow on the bow of his chair. His long arm extended to brush his chilled fingers along Alosa's exposed shoulder on its descent to grip the back of her chair. " How many people have you all slept with since coming to the Academy?." A smirk pulled at his lips as he took his hand back from behind Alosa to hold up all five fingers, wiggling them in Oliver's direction as though to tease him for his small number. "I've got five under my belt. If you don't count the dutchesses." Even though the ice giant answered, he still treated himself to another long drink. tab Alosa looked over as Ophelia introduced her to Oliver and she flashed him a smile, waving her hand. " Hello! It's wonderful to meet you officially." she said in reply, her gaze moving back to Ivan, before her gaze hardened slightly. She knew the word he used, and it certainly wasn't a very nice one. "I knew you as Ivan, don't be rude about it." she started with, placing a hand on her hip softly. She let Ophelia move around her as she looked down at Ivan as he shot her a glare and despite the wave of fear she felt with his gaze it didn't stop her from snapping back at him. " And I'm not self-righteous; don't be a p***k, you vyperdysh." she could tell she had struck a nerve with him, but at this point she didn't care. She looked back to Oliver as he made his soft remark and she shook her head, allowing her smile to return to her face. " Oh no, that's my mistake. Jack used to go by another name when I knew him before, prior to the academy." she cleared it up, putting emphasis on the name that the ice prince wanted to go by at the time.
tab Alosa sat down next to Ophelia and as she listened to Oliver speaking of a drinking game, she took notice of Ivan, no Jack, setting the bottle on the ground. She vaguely remembered the superstition although she couldn't remember exactly what it was about. She listened to him speak about finishing a bottle for good favor. She smiled a little, holding the glass up in her hand and echoing his call able to say it with ease despite not having spoken the Hyouden language in many years. " За здоровье." she said it quietly, but loud enough. When the liquid hit her throat she made a face but swallowed it. She certainly hadn't gotten better at drinking since she had seen him last, her parents keeping her in the dark about quite a lot. When Jack described the game she agreed that it seemed simple enough, and she smiled over at Ophelia with excitement. She was happy she could come and support her friend in this double date, even if she was paired up with the one man that she actually had a history with.
tab A few rounds in, and Alosa found herself already a little flushed from the alcohol. She seemed to be handling it better than Oliver at least, but she was definitely feeling it. She found herself moving closer to Ivan, he still was as handsome as the last time she saw him and certainly grew up. She leaned in on her hand as she listened to Oliver asking a question, and while she answered it she answered a bit too honestly, already. She turned her head slightly as Ivan spoke about it being his turn and she felt her face heating up slightly as she saw him undoing the top few buttons of his shirt and she had to look away a moment later. She didn't know what was getting into her, the alcohol was obviously a major part of it but she certainly didn't imagine with his newfound attitude that she'd still find the man attractive like she used to. Man, was she wrong.
tab As Alosa was in her own mind, she suddenly felt a familiar cold touch on her shoulder. She tensed up for a moment, glancing over her shoulder as she saw Ivan's hand settling onto the chair behind her and she at first didn't hear his question. She knew at that point her face was a bright shade of red. Whether that was from the drinking, Ivan or both. She couldn't bring herself to look back up at him, but even a single glance one could see that she was struggling internally. She turned her head slightly watching as he held his hand up towards Oliver, seemingly teasing the other although she didn't process a single word he said. She found her gaze landing on the opening of his shirt, and she imagined what it would feel like to touch him again, like she had all those years ago. She knew even back then she was bold and now she wouldn't be as much so, but the drinks in her system were certainly not helping her now.
tab Alosa then suddenly seemed to process his question. " How many people have we slept with?" she echoed before she shook her head, she hadn't slept with anyone, ever nevermind since coming to the academy. She thought back to even just a moment ago as her brain finally processed his answer and she widened her eyes, her gaze moving up to his. " Not including-" she cut herself off before she sat up straight. " How have you even found time with classes and everything going on?" there was a little hint of jealousy in her voice, but she didn't seem to notice it before she sighed. She'd need another drink before the end of this madness. " Nobody. The only person I've ever even kissed is you." she said, directing the last part towards Ivan as she took another drink. This time it didn't go down as hard, either she was drunk at that point or she was adjusting to the taste.
tab Alosa couldn't help but become curious and in need of a distraction from the man beside her, she smiled at Oliver. " So what about you?" she was really hoping for her friend's sake that the reply would be nobody but she genuinely didn't know what it was going to be. Her mind kept running back to Ivan though as she struggled to push not only his answer but her thoughts out of her own mind. She had to be careful though, she might blurt them out, and that would be horrifying, even in her own state. As she waited to her the other two's reply, she found herself staring off, her mind stuck in memories of when she first met Ivan and she couldn't help but wonder what happened because she didn't think she did anything wrong. And for him to call her such names now... " Yoptel-mopsel... why am I thinking of that?" she grumbled to herself, slipping into the Hyouden language again unconsciously. She was surprised how much had stuck with her, although she was pretty sure when she had last seen Ivan she had asked him for only the non-traditional words as she could come up with all the other words and terms from books. She wasn't sure how Oliver could do it, but the moment his fingers laced around hers, the steel ball of worry in her stomach shrunk. Even if she was making a mess of things, she hadn't managed to disappoint him. Naturally, she leaned into him as he dipped down to her, a shiver running down her spine at the sensation of his lips behind her ear. "You're doing great." The simple words and feel of his breath against her ear sent a blaze through her. Making her very aware of the fact she wouldn't need alcohol to make her head spin. The way Oliver was able to do that with just his honey words would make for a wild night. Suddenly feeling emboldened, she turned her head slightly to catch his attempted kiss on the cheek with the side of her lips. Then promptly worked to fan away the blush that crept over her skin as he turned back to the conversation, offering a game for them to play. " What a great Idea; games will lighten the mood." The thought was a breath of fresh air filtering through her. This night would go well- she would make sure of it.
☼☼☼☼ Couple Rounds and Drinks Later ☼☼☼☼
The plan was to make sure it went well... But that was before Ophelia learned why people drank hard liquor over the sweet wines that often passed her lips. The stuff clouded her brain quicker than the sunrise fog after a heavy storm, leaving any plans she had well submerged somewhere in the deep recesses of her mind. The taste, however... Well, Oliver was doing well enough for the table to showcase how bad it was. Each time his face twisted, she couldn't help but giggle at the scrunch of his nose. She'd never seen his face like that, but even under the influence, she memorized it. At first, she was sure her features were pinched just as badly. But now? the taste was really beginning to grow on her. Something about the heated bite and bitter sensation that settled on the back of her tongue was pleasing. It wouldn't ever be her first choice; she was a girl of class, after all... But she could enjoy an even mix of sweet and bitter from time to time. Broaden her horizons, as some people say. The stuff Jack seemed to favor though? REAL BITTER. Disgustingly so. Leaving her to wonder if he liked pain.
With nothing but liquid courage pulsing through her veins, Ophelia slid closer to Oliver as everyone else worked to answer his question. Moving their laced hands out from between them so she could guide his arm around her back to settle on her waist. Whatever fear she might have had with public displays of affection turned to ash beneath the burn in her belly. Desperate to be closer to him somehow. Resting her steaming head against his chest, she inhaled a slow, deep breath, savoring the crisp smell. Even with the tinge of whiskey layered over his scent, it remained fresh.
Peaking through her lashes, Phis's hazy eyes watched as Orby floated between Alosa and Jack, illuminating their colors for her. The flush of her cheeks darkened as she watched complex colors ebb and flow around Alosa, mostly Confused yellow and dark pink. She knew what that darkened shade of pink meant, at least... when she had seen it from Oliver. No part of her expected Alosa to still be attracted to the man after the first encounter, but she didn't know their history. Maybe it was always complex. Now, what was really strange was the deeper flurries of dark pink slipping into the multi-rage-colored hues of Jacks's aura... But at least that meant he was having a good time. Now. It only took him four bottles. Her gaze slid up to Oliver, watching dark pink and light violet hues shift around him. Clashing against the olive tones of his skin, and bright blue eyes-- He really was beautiful, and she hadn't told him that enough. All she wanted, with every fiber of her being, was to be close to him.
With Jack and Alosa busy stealing glances at each other, mixed with the colors she witnessed floating around them- It was safe to assume she could kiss Oliver without judgment, right? Her fingers were moving, acting on some primal need the alcohol pushed to the forefront of her mind before her brain could think better of it. Catching his chin, she tugged his face down to hers, stealing a slow kiss while she had the chance. Ophelia savored the soft feeling of his lips on hers, the heat blooming in her chest that spiraled down to her core, forcing her to cross her legs. What if they made an esca-
Jacks bottle slammed on the table, making her jump and break the kiss. She couldn't help but laugh as she buried her face into Olivers neck, attempting to hide the embarrassment behind her actions while Jack laid out his question, sending that ember of heat she'd been trying to contain into a full-on blaze. She hadn't ever verbalized to Oliver how she felt, and she wasn't exactly open to doing it in front of Alosa and Jack- so while Jack blundered about his prized, her head lifted from Oliver's neck, staring into the darkness behind them as Alosa commented on the man's number, Phi whispered an admission for only Oliver to hear. "None yet," Her tone honed in on the second word. hoping to portray her message. Pulling away, she peered up at him through hooded eyes, eager to gauge his reaction.
It was like being doused in Ice water. The vibrant hues of nervous teal, panicked ice blue, and red all wrapped around him vibrated dread through her. Her admission had upset him; it had been entirely one-sided.
Nervous laughter fluttered from her lips as she unwound herself from Oliver, the sound too hollow from the sudden dryness in her mouth while Alosa directed the same question towards Oliver. Lacing her fingers in front of her, she kept a well-practiced smile stitched onto her lips while her teeth gnawed against her cheek. Why were his colors so nervous and upset? Maybe she had been acting too scandalous; what if he was the type to wait for marriage? She could do that. I mean, she held off this long didn't she? Well- it wasn't like she had much of an option before now. Men had tried, but It had always been more important to have a genuine connection.
Movement out of her peripheral vision knocked Ophelia from her thoughts. Wide eyes watched in blurred slow motion as Oliver lifted his glass to his lips and promptly opted out of answering the question by downing his glass.
"But why?" She slammed down the question that clawed up her throat.
His answer should have been simple: None. Right? Was he just embarrassed to admit that because of Jack's count? The colors around Oliver seemed to deepen as Orby floated closer to him, screaming at her to pay attention to them, absorb them, and accept them. She didn't want to, but she couldn't ignore them now. He was nervous and upset—not with her, but with the question asked. How did that make sense? They had been together pretty much since day one, did that mean. "He's sleeping with other women." Something in her cracked at the thought, her smile faltering as she tried to shove these feelings into that hole deep in her stomach. Distraction, she needed distraction.
Her eyes flicked to Jack as he leaned over to Alosa. Watching as his hand threaded around her neck to tilt her head sideways so he could whisper something against the shell of her ear. God, no, she didn't want to see that. For the first time, she actually contemplated popping Orby herself.
Even though she had answered the question, Ophelia pulled another burning gulp down her throat, hoping to fill the hole that had ripped open in her stomach. It didn't help. It was still cold somehow. The finished drink only fogged her spinning world more. Dropping the empty glass to the table, she leaned forward, resting on her elbows as she turned to look at Oliver. Mask firmly latched into place despite the glossy look in her eye. "Was It o-o" SPIT IT OUT. She sat back, running a frustrated hand through her hair that retaliated by ripping against her tight curls. "It was only once?"

"Talk." 'Thoughts.' The idea of having to drink the whole glass of this disgusting tonic seemed less than ideal. After only two glasses he had already started to feel out of it. Watching Jack down the remainder of the bottle, the prince couldn’t imagine having a tolerance like Jack’s, the man was a legend. Sure, it was hard to understand him at times, but for the most part, he seemed well-meaning. He had no idea why the ice prince had been so aggressive to Alosa’s seemingly simple mistake.
After a few rounds of their game, Oliver was having a hard time figuring out what anyone was saying. The only thing that kept him grounded was having Ophelia so close to him. It would be embarrassing when he would be wobbling later as he walked. Drinking wasn’t exactly a popular pastime of his, his parents often checking his drinks for poison or potions took the fun out of the idea. It was nice to finally get out and spread his wings, even if the feeling tasted like burning bitterness.
As the night continued on, the glow from Orby made it seem like Oliver was in a dream. It was admittedly confusing what was going on between Alosa and Jack but both parties seemed into it so he wasn’t going to step in. Even if he did there wasn’t much he would be able to do against the ice prince, in terms of combat Oliver would be lucky to last 10 seconds against the man. 'When did he start unbuttoning his shirt?' still recoiling from another shot before focusing his attention back on Ophelia.
It was surprising how well she was able to handle her alcohol. He could barely tell the taste bothered her as opposed to his obvious reaction. Still, her slightly scrunched-up nose after downing each shot was so cute he felt himself falling harder and harder for her. Orby’s glows seemed to just enhance her looks in the cheap bar’s light. It was getting harder and harder to keep his hands off her, thankfully she welcomed this allowing him to hold her closer to him, gripping her side so she could rest her head on his chest.
Feeling her gentle fingers brush against his face once more, gravity was not the only thing keeping him tied to this Earth. It was surprising to see this side of the duchess, but a welcomed one. Their lips locked together, he could taste the alcohol on her breath but the burning was a welcome sensation as he pushed deeper no longer caring if their mates saw them. He moved his hands to grip her waist tighter, ready to leave the world behind until the dream was brought back into reality by Jack slamming another bottle down.
Oliver rubbed her back to comfort her, as she seemed embarrassed and startled by the prince’s sudden action. Meanwhile, Oliver was peeved by the sudden discourse. What was he trying to prove by asking this question? Did he just want to show that he was the greater man compared to him? It seemed like Alosa was already fully invested in spending her time with Jack so why need to flaunt his past conquests? The duchess comment felt targeted as Jack knew what he had done with the Duchess of Stilicidium his first night.
Hoping for an out he looked over at Alosa who was seemingly fumbling her way through an answer. Hearing Ophelia’s whisper in his ear only taunted him more for a response. He feared that she was a virgin like he was just two weeks ago before falling into his insecurity and spending the night with Bonnie. Was she expecting him to have more experience like Jack? He was no Casanova but he thought she knew that. There was a time he was planning to tell her and talk about it but this wasn’t the time or place. As everyone’s eyes seemingly fell on him, he panicked, grabbed the glass in front of him, and swallowed it down. The burning feeling felt karmic given his cowardly response to the question.
Thankfully now most eyes seemed to fall off him, except one person’s; Ophelia’s. She had moved herself away from him, opting to take a drink herself. Was she lying to him just now? Or was it that she was looking for an escape too? "Was It o-o. It was only once?" Looking back at the poor girl’s orbs it felt like she had been just stabbed in the gut. Words seemed to fail him for the time being, unsure of what he was supposed to say. Was she hoping he was more experienced than just the once or did she think that-
”No. Just no.” attempting to shut down any misconceptions of him sleeping with other girls behind her back. Alosa brought up a great point about not having the time, between spending time with her and going to class when would he have the time to be with anyone else? It just seemed silly. Still, he could feel a rift starting to form between the two of them. It was best to settle this now.
” Ophelia, you’re the only one I want to be with.” His eyes were suddenly serious as he looked at her. It seemed like she was already unraveling in front of him, her hand compulsively pulling through her hair. It was hard to tell if she was even listening to what he had to say or had started drifting off again like she had a few times before. Unfortunately, this did not seem like the time or place to flick the girl’s forehead. He desperately wanted her to believe him but was unsure how especially when she looked so disgusted with him. ” You have to believe me.”

The longer this night dragged on, the more Ivan believed none of these people understood the heart-pounding blood lust that came with the chance of revenge. While he had been expecting a night of women and fun, every thread of proposed relaxation snapped the moment Alosa stepped through those doors. Beaming with her familiar bright eyes and sickeningly sweet smile. They said war often ended up on your doorstep when you least expect it and how surprising it was to have one of the masterminds behind his sibling's murder show up tonight. When the offer of drinking games fell into his lap, the Ice Prince quickly recommended his favored. Truth or Drink was often the most advantageous way to extract the information Ivan usually sought on undercover missions. It wasn’t even a trick, all of the enemy camps he snuck into unnoticed forfeited their most vulnerable secrets under the warm allure of alcohol and fun. There was a lot he did for the sake of fun, but betraying his country was never on the docket. Now, with the war seemingly over and in the presence of a murderer and two innocents, Ivan was quick to slip back into that head space as he poured drink after drink for his companions. Though he didn’t need to pry information from Alosa, It was deplorable how openly she wore her emotions, whatever shield she kept around herself as opaque as glass. Each little movement was a blaring sign, from how her pink eyes lingered on the exposed flesh beneath his shirt to how quickly her skin darkened at the brush of his fingers. How cute it was for this plotter to think a diverted gaze would hide what an open book she had become, all sharp lines and stress used to disguise those open pages dripping with desire. Ivan wasn’t too proud a man to feed into her lust if it meant luring her into the shadows. It was apparent that Lollipop and Oliver were busy satisfying theirs. While it would be easy to slip Alosa from Lolly’s limited field of vision, Oliver's moral code could cause quite a problem for him. Not that he would ever admit to caring about what the Winderian prince thought of him or his dealings. The strange predicament had an odd story filtering across Ivan’s mind. Of a man plagued with love at first sight, but when his princess failed to meet him beyond the castle gates he fell into the deep sea of self hatred, where he followed a sirens call. No wait. That wasn’t a fairy tale story, was it? Ivan’s icy gaze slipped to Oliver as he deepened a kiss with Lolly, finally recalling the detailed venting session of the tanned man’s regrets. In the memory of Oliver's ramblings, Ivan found the apex of a snowstorm brewing between the lovers, one thick enough to shield their eyes from his dealings with Alosa. Dripping with feigned intoxication, Ivan pulled the final swig of his bottle into his mouth, letting one drop slip from his lip to trail down his jaw for added effect. Then slamming it down with thrumming force, he drew the Love Dove’s attention back to the game. Melting back into his chair, his question filtered out as a tease that failed to meet his eyes, his cold gaze directed at Oliver. There was no escape for the wind prince now. Honest answer or not, the snowflake at his side would dissolve for her impossible standards. Some deep, frozen part of Ivan felt a semblance of guilt for his friend. But as far as he could tell, the weight of loss had never settled on the mans shoulders, so he would never understand the pitless hunger for revenge or the will to flatten anyone who stood in his path to get it. Alosa’s answer didn’t surprise him, with her now-filled frame straightening uncomfortably as though the thought of his multiple partners was unnatural. Forcing a lazy smile onto chilled lips, he stared down at her through hooded eyes and arched a curious brow. ” Don’t tell me you do homevork after class.” The tease that slipped into his tone was well placed, meant to draw her back into their childhood where she could find comfort. Unsurprisingly she found her escape by turning her attention toward Oliver, neatly placing the spotlight directly on the frustrated prince, and setting him up for failure. As he predicted, Lollypop diminished at Oliver's lack of response, her blinding personality fading into darkness as she slipped away from her lover. Seizing his chance, Ivan coated his fingers in an unnatural chill meant to send even more gooseflesh over Alosa’s pretty skin. His hand slipped to cup the back of her neck. Thumb pressing against the hook of her jaw, he tilted her head to the side as he bent down to whisper against her ear. ”Get another drink vith me, and I show you more zhen kiss.” It was more of a demand than an option, but his teeth purposefully grazed the shell of her ear to drive the invite home. Her saltwater smell wrapped around his senses as he leaned into her and pressed his lips behind her ear, allowing a low rumble to reverberate through him as though he hungered for her. Setting the lure, Ivan slowly trailed his fingers beneath the color of her shirt, the slightest tease for what was to come before leaving the table. Like the starving guppy she was, Ivan knew the water princess had followed by the gentle scrape of her chair, leaving Oliver and Lolly alone to discuss their problems. Moving through the crowds that naturally parted for his massive frame, Ivan reached behind, his long reach catching Alosa's hand just as he made it to the bar and pulling her in front of him. Snaking his hands around her waist, he pulled her back into his chest, unwilling to look at her. The girl who lured him into the 'safety' of her kingdom just so they could rise from the depths below and strike while his family was vulnerable. It was his fault as much as theirs, which made his blood boil against naturally cool veins. Successfully, he trapped his little victim between his figure and the bar, trailing a cold line down the back of her exposed arms before catching her hands and holding them to the tabletop. Leaning down, he spoke into her ear once more. " Tell me vhat you want Alosa." Her name was as thick rolling off his tongue as the poisons from Corthyr. Still, he worked to honey them, letting her believe he wanted her, no, craved her right now. "Ze liqore here is poor though. ve could have a drink back at my place." The trap was laid; if she accepted, there was no way she would make it back to her kingdom, much less the school. OOC : ♛ Location: Bar xxx ♛ Social contact: Alosa. Oliver. tab Alosa was feeling the alcohol at this point and as she had distracted the attention from her and her answer to the question, but his response about doing homework after class didn't escape her. She wasn't able to help the semi annoyed huff that left her lips but she didn't actually answer his tease. When she had looked up she had noticed her friend's head buried into the other mans shoulder, it only taking her a moment to put together that they had kissed. Her pink eyes lit up but as she had taken in how tense the situation became she raised a hand to her mouth. Her eyes filled with concern for her friend as she drunkenly had asked him questions. It was hard for her to get the words out and even Alosa could see that in her hazy state.
tab Alosa wasn't paying attention to Ivan but when he touched the back of her neck she stiffened up, the cold touch of his hands sending a chill down her spine. Her hand that was on the table tightened slightly as she felt his lips against her ear and her pink eyes went wide. His words were like a promise that part of her couldn't pass up on. She knew that the failed engagement was probably for a valid reason, but she didn't know what it was and it couldn't have been that bad, right? Her mind went blank for a moment as his fingers grazed her skin beneath her collar and she immediately disregarded the voice in the back of her head saying this was a dangerous idea.
tab The voice was telling her to be careful, things had been tense with Hyouden after the break off and even though she didn't know why she should be cautious. Certainly not go to the bar with him in hopes of more than a kiss. No, that would be stupid. And yet...that's exactly what she did. With a gentle noise of the chair, she looked up at Ophelia and Oliver, hoping her friend wouldn't mind if she headed to the bar. She figured that Phi wanted to have time with Oliver and even though they weren't doing so well it wasn't her business what they were fighting about. What was it again? she turned and saw the shadow of Ivan headed to the bar, his large back standing out against the crowd. The princess hadn't stood since they started drinking so she had to balance herself out on the table before she got her bearings and followed behind him.
tab What she wasn't expecting was for him to reach back and take her hand, pulling her in front of him. The fast movement compared to how she was cautiously moving made her head spin and she had to close her eyes for a moment. She felt his strong arms moving around her waist which made her feel both safe and secure yet there was an underlying feeling behind the motion that she wasn't able to ascertain. She felt a cold chill run down her back that she figured was produced by the ice prince holding her against his chest. She had forgotten how small she was compared to him, as he took her hands and placed them against the counter her pink eyes widened again and for a moment she stared at his hands over her own. She made no effort to pull her hands away, her mind only running to what more he could do with those hands that so effortlessly held her own down.
tab His cold breath met her neck before his words, and she tensed up for a moment before putting thought into his question. She looked up at the alcohol that lined the back of the bar, her eyes unsure of what she was seeing, she wasn't much of a drinking in the first place. And it didn't help that his words were making her brain even more fuzzy. At the offer of going to his place, she both felt confusion because didn't he stay at the school like her? And the warning bells started to go off in the back of her head, as if something was telling her this wouldn't end well, it wouldn't be safe. " I don't know....I don't really know what there is to drink-" her mind was finally letting her make a comment about what she wanted, but she blushed at a thought in her head before she closed her eyes, a shy smile forming over her face.
tab All thoughts of danger left, the alcohol seemed to hit her again as she leaned her head back against him and relaxed completely. " Y'know....I might take you up on that." her voice was soft, drawled out a little bit as she opened her eyes again. " Besides I'd like to know what else your hands can do..." she didn't mean for that to come out of her mouth out loud, but her filter was entirely shut off, and she wasn't feeling any embarrassment from her words. A laugh escaped her lips as she widened her smile and her head lolled forward, looking down at the counter. " It's funny...seeing you again. All these years and you haven't changed, not that much. I'm glad." she wasn't sure if it was the alcohol clouding her mind or the rose-colored glasses that were making this hard for her to see that she was in danger, but the water princess was missing every sign. ”No. Just no.”
No what? No, it wasn't just once? Had he slept with multiple women since they started talking? The thought had Ophelia's mouth dropping open, then abruptly smacking shut. What could she say? How could she be surprised? If Jack could find the time, why couldn't Oliver?
Ophelia tried her best not to let the pain of her shattering confidence bleed onto her features, but her face was numb, the alcohol making it harder to hide the hurt. Wide eyes flicked over to Orby, who fluttered just beyond the man she'd been falling for to expose ribbons of vibrant red filtering through Oliver's aura. Unknown to her, Orby was manipulating the situation now, forcing Ophelia to think that the Winderian prince was upset with her reaction.
The warning red sent a current of worry shooting over the duchess' spine. He was mad at her... and why shouldn't he be? She needed to get better control of herself, but her head was spinning, and she couldn't tell if it was the alcohol or the onslaught of confusing emotions swirling inside her that caused it. Pressing the pads of her hands into her eyes, she tried desperately to yank her sinking heart back up. What was she expecting? It was naive of her to believe she was something important to a prince. No wonder he never tried to put a label on their relationship. He wasn't hers to claim, so what right did she have to be upset?
” Ophelia, you’re the only one I want to be with. You have to believe me.”
There were the words she wanted to hear. And if he had said them thirty seconds prior, the duchess would have continued being lovable putty melting in his hands. But now she was forced to wonder, how true was it? Actions and emotions spoke so much louder than words… Wiping away the moisture from her eyes, Ophelia looked back to the man she so selfishly wanted to call her own to see the hues of red shifting into icy blue worry and dark green disgust.
Oliver's eyes had hardened, the expression foreign to his usually kind features. He wanted her to believe him; he was worried she wouldn't. But was the disgust with himself or with her? One of her hands reached up to cradle his cheek in a silent beg to bring back the softness she was so fond of.
“ It's fine, it's Okay. You don't have to try and convince me.”
The lie sounded hollow to her trained ears, but she knew how to expertly weave in a soft, breathy tone strong enough to soothe Oliver. His complex emotional blend was familiar, at least, one she knew how to handle since her mother used to make the same hues when she was caught in a bald-faced lie. Pride was her mother's pitfall, though, always too arrogant to admit her wrongdoings. However, the worst part was when she would expertly flip the situation and somehow make Ophelia out to be the bad guy whenever she tried to plead her case or beg for an apology. She didn't think she could handle something like that coming from Oliver as well.
It was better just to accept the truth for what it was. She must have not been interesting enough. Mother always said she would need to work hard to gain a man's interest. Apparently, that was the easy part for someone like Ophelia. Maybe her personality just wasn't enough to satiate Oliver. Or, Maybe that was all he was interested in, so he fed his physical needs elswear. She couldn't blame him, there were so many beautiful women at the school. Women like Alosa, taller and thinner, wouldn't always be something he would need to worry about or take care of. She was a burden, and she knew it. It was only a matter of time until he got tired of it.
Pulling her hand back to wring her fingers together, Ophelia looked down at the empty glass sitting before her. She couldn't help but be jealous of the inanimate object. How could she empty herself that way?
Closing her eyes and taking in a final calming breath, she decided it was best to move on from the topic completely. Phi wasn’t about to let this evening take such an awkward turn, determined not to be the reason it went up in flames. Turning her attention to Alosa, she opened her mouth in an attempt to change the subject. It was her friend's turn to ask a question, wasn't it? But she could only watch as the duo across from them scurried away. Receiving a look of pitty from Alosa before the shadows absorbed her completely. Effectivly leaving Phi no other option but to focus on the problem at hand.
Damn it.
Grabbing another half-filled bottle, Ophelia quickly poured another shot and threw it down her throat. Hoping to drown the bubbling jealousy and hurt beneath the acidic sensation. Her nose still crinkled against the burn, drawing a shiver from her.
“I’m sorry. It seems I’ve ruined the mood..”
Her words were too thick with emotion. Clearing her throat, she knitted together the most genuine smile and forced the light back into her eyes.
“We don’t have to talk about your other partners at school. Don’t worry, Oliver. I was just surprised. I wouldn’t have expected-" Pooring another shot for herself, her reach arched over to Oliver's glass, intending to pour one for him when the bottle slipped from her trembling fingers. Shattering as it smacked onto the table. " Mother sun! Can nothing go right?" Sholders tensing with her rising frustration, Ophelia tried to laugh off her embarrassment as she worked desperately to gather the pieces. Shards of glass bit into her busy fingers, but Phi's whole body had gone numb by this point—physically, mentally, and emotionally. The pain wasn't something the dutchess could register as she defeatedly swiped at the shards, needing to keep this evening together, needing to pick up all the pieces. How could she let herself- no, not her- the bottle slip from her fingers to shatter like that?
Unknown to her, tears began to slip over the dutchess' lashes, trailing a heated line down her smiling cheeks as she cleaned up the mess she'd made.

"Talk." 'Thoughts.' The tension between Ophelia and Oliver was so thick one would need a chainsaw to break through it. Her responses only made that so much more clear. It seemed like no matter what he said it was wrong. The prince knew he needed to explain himself more but how was he supposed to do that when it felt like she wasn’t willing to listen? It wasn’t her fault, he was the weak one but how could he be the one for her if he wasn’t brave enough to have one tough conversation?
But what was he supposed to say to convince her that she was the one for him? Would that seem too forward considering how little time they had gotten to know each other? His mind started to spiral with hypothetical “what-ifs” as he looked over to the two who had made their departure from the table. ' How does he manage to sweep every girl off her feet?' He wondered as he watched Ivan whisper nothings into Alosa’s ear.
A sigh left his body as he thought about how they were just minutes ago before this minor misstep had occurred. The silence between the two was deafening, but Oliver felt too afraid to break it. Still trying to figure out what to say, he was shocked to hear Ophelia’s voice break the silence instead as she downed another shot. Maybe it was best to follow her lead. Oliver tried not to chuckle at her half-joke, but it was hard when everything about her seemed to make him smile.
Looking over at her, however, halted his smile as she looked like she was barely able to hold it together. And in all fairness, why should she? ” No, I fear it was me that ruined the mood.” Biting his lip after he spoke, a small nervous twitch of his that was just now forming, unable to hold his hand in hers to help calm his nerves now. He wanted to help her as she started to pour a drink for him too, not that he wanted any more liquor unless she was trying to make him forget the night entirely and start over. Then he would have gladly accepted.
Instead, her nerves appeared to be just as bad as Oliver’s, dropping the bottle. The shattering of the glass surprised him but not as much as Ophelia’s heartbreaking reaction. He attempted to assist her in picking up the glass pieces and wanted to reassure her that things were going to be all right but how could he when things felt so tense between the two? Lying felt like the worst possible option, plus her wannabe lie detector would immediately out him only causing more tension.
” It’s going to be… fine.” The last word was difficult to leave his lips. He wanted to tell her everything would be fine. That this night was nothing but a mere bump in their story but how was he supposed to know? Clearly thinking with his heart instead of his head was leading him to nothing but heartbreak and it wasn’t just his own he was breaking. Was it better for him to just call it now and then try and continue pushing and risk hurting more than they already were?
Looking over at the crying girl’s face broke the prince. This was the last thing he wanted to see. All he wanted to do was make her smile; here he was being the direct cause of the distress. Attempting to pick up the neck of the bottle, Oliver felt a small pain crawl through his hand. ”Oh ******** this.” he called to himself, looking at the cut, grabbing a cocktail napkin to cover it for the time being. It wasn’t anything to complain about or worry Ophelia over. Or worse make her think he did this for pity.
Ophelia's statement was an understatement. Everything was imploding it felt like any attempt Oliver made to fix it only managed to hurt the other. Maybe it would be better if he just left her alone. It was clear that he was the source of all the negative energy here. Once he was away then maybe her smile, her real one, would eventually return. Plus, he needed to get a bandage for his hand, there was no way in hell he was asking Ophelia for anything else tonight. He had taken enough from her, the best he could do for now was take the rest of the broken garbage with him.
" I'm sorry," He said, feeling terrible for all the events that had transpired this evening, " I should go." He felt his eyes stinging as he held back tears but there was no way he was letting Ophelia know he was upset. Her kind heart would take him back on the spot and he didn't deserve that. He was selfish and hurt the one girl he thought he had the chance of forever with.

The hazy tremble in Alosa's eyes told him how incapacitated she was—making this endeavor all the easier. Getting her alone to watch the life drain from her eyes as he snapped that pretty little neck was as likely as snowfall in his kingdom. Keeping the predatory expression from his gaze, Ivan tilted his head to catch her eyes as she leaned against him. " Y'know....I might take you up on that. Besides, I'd like to know what else your hands can do..." Oh he planned on it. How cute that the princess had loosened up so much since their childhood. Why not give her a final hurrah to her pathetic existence? Before he sent her to Join her sister. If she were that lucky, Ivan fully believed with what her kingdom had done to his family- That he would be meeting her in the deepest layers of frozen hell the red god offered. " It's funny...seeing you again. All these years and you haven't changed, not that much. I'm glad." It was hard not to scowl, the force of it sending Ivan tilting his head back so she didn't catch it. Oh, he had changed; what she had done to him had changed him. Forced him to believe there was a chance at life outside of his uncle's grasp that the emptiness of war could melt away beneath a woman who could greet him when he returned. In all honesty, he should be thanking her for extinguishing that naive idea. Everything he gained along the ride of his horrendous life led him straight to this moment. Leaning down, he pushed humor into his tone. "And now I am looking for a change in scenery." Catching her wrist, he forcefully turned her to face him. Dropping her wrist to catch her chin while the other snaked around her waist, pulling her against him so his mouth could easily meet hers. Salt coated his lips, the flavor sending a growl rattling out of his chest. Not in pleasure, no. In disdain at the ruse he had to play to get her to follow him. Pulling back, he breathed into her ear. "Vith me princess." Ivan led the way, putting on a show of giggles and teasing as he lured Alosa out of the bar with blinding reminiscing of their time together. Getting her to one of the random houses his uncle had planted in the city was easy enough. With no one left around to stop him. Seeing as Oliver came to his senses and abandoned his sinking ship, Lolipop. Ivan made sure to keep Alosa busy during that pathetic sight. He'd never seen someone knock into so many things in an attempt to leave. The house wasn't far, and Ivan was quick to usher the girl inside before any familiar eyes could spot them. A smile cracked over his lips at the click of the front door locking. The small entryway of the house bowed out into a wide living space. Worn wood gave the home warmth, one that reminded Ivan of his time in Yakutsk. The perfect memory to dredge up the hatred. Looking down at his recent victim of sweet revenge. Gentle fingers lifted to up the back of Alosa's head, arcing it up to meet his gaze. He stepped towards her, backing her into the living room until the couch pressed against her calves. " Do you vant another drink?" He questioned, leaning down so that when he spoke next his lips would brush against hers. "Or should I jump straight into the presentation?"
