For the most part, Yua is a cheerful and friendly woman. She never gets angry and if she has, no one has seen it. At least, no one that can recognize her. Despite her open and social nature, Yua has a hard time showing her faults to others. If she can't appear collected, she would rather not appear at all. This stems from her desire to be strong; which she is. She's a courageous woman, willing to look scrutiny in the eyes, and is unafraid to give her opinions. But, she's also rather passive. Yua isn't going to go out of her way to confront people unless they're giving her a reason to. Usually pertaining to her son or those she's taken under her wings like the Kaiba boys.
Yua is an average woman born in your typical family and raised in Tokyo where her childhood and teenage years were normal. She did well in school, had plenty of extracurricular activities to keep herself busy, and volunteered her time on Sundays to build up a diverse resume. There was nothing particularly exciting about her early years. She was able to sign up for a foreign exchange program that took her overseas to the United States. But, things didn't go as she planned and within a year, her life was turned inside out and she was cut off from her family. The reason? Early on in her first year of university, Yua was assaulted by another student. It wasn't the assault that cost her family; they were ready and willing to fight tooth and nail for in her that regard.
What they wouldn't fight for and accept, however, was the baby Yua chose to keep.
The pregnancy, despite her acceptance of it, wasn't very welcome by her family. They'd always been an odd mix of progressive and traditional; their disinterest and lack of support wasn't much of a surprise. To say their opinions on what to do with it were made clear would be an understatement. But, Yua didn't feel that way about the baby. Though the circumstances of its conception were traumatic and unfortunate, she felt nothing but love for it. It put a lot of tension between her and her family, but she stuck by her decision to have the baby and be a mother. And, she had never once regretted it. Not even when her family disowned her and she had to live in a poor apartment in a bad area with a less than decent job at a corner store that barely paid her enough to afford rent and essentials.
This was her and Ninjin's life for seven long years. Years she did her best to make happy ones. She knew she wasn't doing a very good job of it; Ninjin was an angry little tyrant and it was hard keeping babysitters. Even teachers grew intolerant quickly. It wasn't his fault she couldn't provide him what he needed and despite his behavior with outside caretakers, he was was a sweet and gentle boy when he was with her. They somehow made things work, though, but eventually she knew they couldn't stay where they were if she wanted any chance of giving her son a better life. Yua never intended to make the move back to Japan. She would've been happy to find an apartment in a better area. But, that changed when Ninjin's father got in contact with her.
As the kids would say these days, that was a huge nope for her.
Yua wasn't willing to let him have any contact with her and her son. Maybe she acted greedily or maybe she had good instinct; she doesn't know. All she knows is that she dug into their emergency funds and moved as quickly as she could back to her home country. Ironically, the unplanned move turned out to be the best thing that could've happened to them. Within a few years, their situation had turned around; she got a well-paying job working at Kaiba Corporations as a receptionist, Ninjin started working on his anger problems, and they were both happier for it. She doesn't regret a single moment of what she's been through because everything turned out worth it in the end. Her son is a wonderful young man despite his rough start in life and she couldn't be prouder.

▸ Yua is a vegetarian. She doesn't mind if others eat meat around her and she'll prepare meat, but she won't eat it herself. ▸ Ninjin looks a lot like the man that assaulted her, but that has never bothered her. She knows Ninjin is a good man. ▸ Many of her family try to reconnect with her, especially around the holidays and birthdays, but they want nothing to do with Ninjin. She makes it a point to tell them she'll welcome them back into her life when they're ready to welcome Ninjin into theirs. ▸ She doesn't hate her family. There's not a single part of her that's capable of hate. On the contrary, she loves them very much. But, she's stubbornly refusing to reconnect for Ninjin's sake. There's no reason to accept a family that denies her son's existence. ▸ The university she attended was Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Yua majored in engineering. ▸ She's well aware of the influence she has on Ninjin's life, so she does her best not to interfere too much. But, sometimes, she'll take full advantage of it if she feels he's associating with someone that isn't good for him. It doesn't happen very often; in fact, it's only happened once so far. Does she regret it? No. Yua doesn't claim to be a saint, after all. ▸ Yua has an Kaibagram, which is also the only social media she has. While she'll upload pictures of herself or just interesting things that she sees throughout her day on occasion, most of the pictures (and videos) are of Ninjin. It's usually always pictures of him in natural situations like studying, housekeeping, working, etc. She even got away with uploading a picture of him sleeping. It's not popular as the only people that tend to follow the page are Yua and Ninjin's friends, but she's still very proud of it. And, yes. Ninjin knows about it. ▸ While Yua started as a receptionist at the old Kaiba Corporations, she now works directly as Seto Kaiba's secretary. She doesn't really know what compelled Seto to keep her around, even promote her to his personal secretary, but she's grateful he did. It gave her a pay raise she was in desperate need of and she got to know sides of the Kaiba brothers most don't get to see.

Yua has known Mokuba and his brother since their adoption, having been working for Gozaburo for about a year before they were brought into the family. As such, she has seen her fair share of how they were mistreated. Regrettably, as she had her own son to worry about and knew better than to cross the most powerful man in Domino City at the time, Yua kept her head down. From time to time, she did find herself entertaining the youngest Kaiba as he was mostly neglected by Gozaburo. She adores Mokuba as much as she adores her own and is proud of the person he's growing to be.

Yua never got to see much of Seto when Gozaburo was around. The only times she did was when he was coming and going from the building for school or social events he was being dragged to. The first real conversation with him she ever had with him was after he inherited the company after Gozaburo's death. For whatever reason, perhaps due to Mokuba's influence, she was kept on as an employee and even promoted to his personal secretary. She's been serving that position since. Like Mokuba, she has nothing but love for the eldest Kaiba brother and can get rather frustrated when she hears rumors about him despite knowing none of it bothers the man himself. He's come a long way from the angry, violent boy he was and though she knows he'll never be the way he deserves to be, Yua can't help but feel nothing but pride for how far he's come so far.
Yua knows all about Maximillion and his prior scheme to usurp Kaiba Corporation. While she is incapable of hate, it doesn't get much closer to it than it does with him. If she never has to take another call from the man that abducted her boys again, it'll be too soon.

Mai is a frequent enough face to pass through Yua's lounge. As a product tester, it's only natural. Vain and materialistic as she can be, Yua can tell she is a good person. Wherever she goes in life, she has nothing but wishes for good fortune for her.
Yua's opinion of Eros comes from meeting him briefly when he was called in by Seto for matters she is unaware of. From that short encounter, she gathered he is a very charming young man.

Yua's son. Her pride and joy. The spark that gives her unending happiness. If there is one thing about her that people can agree on, it's how much she absolutely adores Ninjin. While things were rocky during the early years of his life, Yua managed to raise a wonderful young man almost entirely on her own. He's away at university now, studying at Japan's top medical school. She misses him more than she could ever describe, but she'll never let that darken just how proud of him she is.

Yua has known Issey since the day she enrolled Ninjin at his dojo as a way of managing his temper. Over the years, they bonded over their shared pride and love for her son. She was never blind to Issey's affection for her nor was she oblivious to all the times Ninjin tried to hint about the two of them; she was just interested in seeing her son to adulthood. This is something Issey understood very well and respected even without her having to tell him, which may have been the catalyst for her own feelings towards him. It was only recently that she was able to muster the courage to ask Issey to dinner. It went well and though they aren't dating, it's clear to them and everyone else that they may as well be.

Isono and Yua have known each other since she began working at Kaiba Corporation under Gozaburo, but they rarely interacted as their paths didn't really cross. After Seto took over the business, their friendship practically skyrocketed; believe it or not, they have a lot of shared interests, including baking. She supposes it's also hard not to connect with someone who is as dedicated to the safety and care of two young boys as she is.
Unlike Isono, Yua had more contact with Fuguta since he was Mokuba's personal security from day one. While they don't have much in common in the way of hobbies, Fuguta has always appreciated her baked treats. He's also very easy to talk to, though most wouldn't think he is, and they've shared their troubles with each other over the years. Something most people don't know about Fuguta is that he's married. Yua attended his wedding alongside Seto and Mokuba a few years back.
