The Reign of Ushindi

Blood had been washed away, blood had stopped boiling, and now it was time to address the pride he had taken. The whispers were that he had taken down the previous Warlord harshly, but the rumors only made him more proud. He'd done away with the lioness that had plagued his home and now he had to announce the changes he intended to enforce immediately. Ushindi had decided to take up the den Zjarri had previously used as his own home had long been recycled for another. It was well lived in, and scattered items suggested that there had either been other occupants, or she had been robbed.

Thralls were tasked with preparing his living space and so the thought left his mind. "Rakan, and Xayah. It's time I speak with the pride." He had sent his ravens to spread the word to members all over the pride.

---

"Your Warlord Ushindi requests your presence." Jicho cried out at a volume that nearly produced a screech. Silma followed suit by screeching a repeat of her partners message.

---

Ushindi could hear their cries overhead and silently applauded their efforts. The pride would know that their leader had fallen and a new one would take her place. This year it wasn't about the Breytast Vindar, it was about rediscovering the prides core values even if that meant adapting them...

He arrived at the center of the pride and was astonished by the audience already present. Ushindi took to a podium like rock and seated himself there. When his ravens were satisfied that their job had been done they joined him. Behind him stood the band that had supported him from Reaver to Warlord.

"Welcome those born of the storm. Today is a good day to die."

The greeting was filled with warmth and invite. He wasn't the cruel lion that had just basically torn apart the lioness that had been leading them. His tone didn't change as he began to address the crowd that had grown before his very eyes. Silma hadn't been lying, the number of lions that gathered today were nearly doubling those that had gathered before he had left with Rakan. The pride wasn't failing completely, but how many of those were of true Stormborn blood? How many were thralls or rogues? His blood boiled once more at the ideas he was beginning to silently address, but he reeled it in.

"Under my guidance the Myrsky Syntynyt will be seeing changes." He spoke smoothly like he had been in front of an audience his entire life. "It seems that we have lost our way after years of misguided attempts to improve ourselves and things have become... tainted." Ushindi sneered as he spoke, he understood that what was done was indeed done, but it could improve with time.

[OOC] IC List of Changes Made by Ushindi

Introduction of the Thrall Brawl: This event was adopted by the band while out on their viking. That long of a time a Stormborn needs some entertainment that they can simply kick back and enjoy. The thralls are typically voluntold, but volunteering is not unheard of. This event is an opportunity for masters to show off their goods, but at the risk of losing ownership. Ushindi offers the top three thralls their freedom to the rank of freeborn. [This event will happen every 1-3 months depending on participation levels. This year it will take place during the Breytast Vindar, but all other years it will not.]

Introduction of two new female ranks: It is made clear in his descent upon Myrsky Syntynyt tha Ushindi has no intention of letting females share ranks with males. Ushindi expects there to be a flurry of females fuming about these changes, but they are indeed, final. The new ranks will be Valkyrie [Female Captain] and Shield Maiden [Female Reaver]. Please click the link to see the new hierarchy. These lionesses have been deemed capable enough to go on a viking, but lionesses as a whole are not seen as fit to go alone.
  • Ranks page will be updated shortly to include this rank.

Technically three new female ranks: History has shown that wives have always been a part of the Myrsky Syntynyt. Their purpose being to seek out a respectable Reaver or Captain, seduce them, and together they create the next generation of males and females that will do the same. This is how to breed strong, healthy Stormborn and it has worked for ages. Ushindi does respect women (though some might disagree) and believes that others should show them a touch more dignity. They also need to show themselves that same dignity. By selecting a husband the following will happen:
  • The lioness becomes ICly married to their husband and will become his Wife. A husband may only have one (1) wife each.
  • The lioness is able to breed with others, but that lioness's cubs will be claimed by her husband and thus take on a Freeborn rank. (You read this right, only lioness's with husbands may have their cubs claimed.)
  • The husband is also able to breed with others, but if that lioness is married to another lion then those cubs will be surrendered to her husband. If the cubs are born out of wedlock then they will be the rank of the mother - no ifs, ands, or buts.
  • All cubs born before/during his reign will be ranked following this new rank requirement. This can be used as plot fodder if you'd like to consider their timing to be seen as unlucky etc.
  • Ranks page will be updated shortly to include this rank.
  • Click me for a fun and simple explanation.

*As problems arise or questions come up I will be adjusting things. Please be advised that any changes I address will be made visible through announcements. There is a lot happening so you may be seeing a lot of announcements/changes.*

[OOC] What do you know?

  • Ushindi was welcomed by thunder, lightning and a duel! Monsoon, odd as it was, came and went with his arrival and win. How odd? Were the gods welcoming him? Or was it a warning?
  • There is a new Warlord, Zjarri'fol hasn't been seen since Ushindi came into power.
  • Ushindi showed an over the top amount of force taking her on in their duel. It was gory and he had no mercy for her. She didn't even deserve a final blow.
  • Zjarri'fols cubs (adopted or otherwise) have not been seen since the duel either. Her den was emptied and looked in a state of array before Ushindi took it over.
  • The gigantic viking band attacking Outlands is NOT present for the announcements. Unless a bird has sent them a message it is unlikely that they know of what has happened at home.
  • There are probably whisperings about what was or wasn't accomplished during the reign of Zjarri'fol. Feelings about that wouldn't be unusual to come up now.

Hila had been in her den, caring for her new thrall, who, while he had regained consciousness in brief stretches, still had a long recovery ahead of him (this had been how she seemed to spend most of her days, since returning from her second viking) - a viking that had left the adolescent a little more serious, and perhaps a little less inclined to assume things would always end well.

She was tired (who would have thought that caring for the injured was so exhausting?!), and the shrieking calls of the birds announcing the desire for an audience by their new warlord was encouragement enough to get her striding out of the den, curious as to what this might mean. After all, she had already heard rumors, rumors that his battle for the position had been...ruthless, and ended with the insult of his not even striking the final blow. However, that was not as immediately concerning to her as it may have been had she not been born and raised here - the pride respected strength, after all, and the more brutal a new warlord's fight for the position was...the less likely others were to challenge, if they didn't want to throw their lives away.

There was also the famine, recently ended, and other odd happenings that had had some whispering that the...well, previous warlord, now, had brought them nothing but misfortune. She wasn't sure she believed that, although there was no arguing that Zjarri'fol's reign (what parts of it Hila had lived through, anyway), seemed to have had more than its share of...bad luck.

And so she wove her way through the gathered crowd of lions, finding a place where she could see their new Warlord clearly, but not so close that she was likely to draw unnecessary attention to herself, either. She arrived just in time to hear him greet them, his tone...different than what she had expected, especially with all of the rumors already running rampant. She'd been expecting something harsher, and instead he sounded almost...cajoling, or welcoming. Hmm.

His next words, though, had her standing up a little straighter, her eyes narrowing slightly, with suspicion. Changes? That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, she reminded herself, trying to keep an open mind. Most new leaders probably changed some things when they assumed the role, after all...right? What did he mean by tainted, though?

Bjorn hadn't been gone long when she was awakened herself, summoned as it were by the impending destruction of a Warlord. She'd had the benefit of watching as the largely unknown Captain (to her) had descended upon the pride and made his displeasure known. Zjarr had succumbed and since then, had simply vanished. Not long after she found herself summoned again, this time by the cawing of ravens as they requested the presence of the pride.

...Ah, but it seemed the newest warlord had the need to address them.

She had intended to be rather unceremonious in waking up her brother, but by the time she had reached his den he was already awake and herding the three youngest cubs back towards his newest thrall. The indentured creature had already proven to be an enigma to the Priestess and she wasn't the greatest fan o such mysteries. Nevertheless the cubs seemed to enjoy her company and stayed out of trouble - suffice it to say that the lioness had quickly installed hersel comfortably in their lifes.

"He wasted no time," Tethys remarked as he strode towards his sister and they began to make their way towards the Warlord.

"He did what no other dared," She gave a wry smile. "He is to be recognised for that," she pointed out. His actions had meant that her intervention would no longer be required, the need to remove Zjarr through more nefarious means. Still, there remained a part of her that would have preferred for things to have been resolved more peacefully, or Zjarr not to have spat in the face of tradition because she was a 'strong and independent' lioness.

...She could have done so much, yet she achieved nothing.

"So he'll have your favour," Tethys made the statement rather than a query, his sister's expression indicated that Ushindi had her interest.

It wasn't long before the twins settled in the presence of the Warlord. Though rather than Tethys stepping forward, at this time it wasn't his place, this was a period in time where the High Priestess and all those in the highest echelons of civilised society made their presence known; he as a Captain, would wait...

Thus, it was Dione who strode forward with her head held high - she wouldn't necessarily be cowed by this new warlord in their lands, she acknowledged his prowess but that didn't mean she would kiss his paws. Respect had to be earned and while he had proven his merit in battle, Zjarr had done the same in a manner of speaking. Her true view of him would be painted after she had watched him conduct himself in this gathering, for now though, she would present herself and offer some congratulations.

"This will prove to be an invaluable opportunity," Thron spoke in calm and quiet tones as he led the pair of newly returned students to the point of summons. Both Gara and Nidus had expressed their interests in pursuing the role of Lawspeaker, yet they were still green and had much to learn. Thron in his continued pursuit to breathe new life into the Stormborn had been more than happy to educate them.

He'd created a particular structure for lessons though, ensuring that while they received lessons from him, they were also subject to the guidance and teachings of both Hakon and Simbi as well. This was, of course, done under his supervision, but he had long recognised the importance of ensuring that each individual was equipped with the skills they needed in life. While Hakon and Simbi were progressing well in their studies, they would also need to learn how to pass that on to new Lawspeakers too. Meanwhile, Nidus and Gara were learning the very basics of the pride and all it was - it had become an unintentionally tiered system and he was rather proud of it.

"Is this normal?" Gara asked.

"After a Breytast it would be," Thron shook his head. "However this is no Breytast, what has happened has -" he paused for a moment to consider. "It has been on the cards for some time," he said finally. While he wasn't privvy to the machinations of others, he'd heard the murmurings and the disgruntled views of some. They'd not had the chance to challenge her, or they had lacked the courage to under the assumption they might need an army to enforce their rule.

"Nevertheless all change must be documented and it is us who does this," he pointed out as he moved towards Ushindi and briefly paused to glance over his shoulder towards his two understudies. "Wait by the edge of the crowd," he instructed the pair and motioned towards the front, but a position that was just far enough back to allow more curious stormborn to take a better seat.

...Both Gara and Nidus had working ears after all and hearing the murmurings from the crowd would be very important for their development as speakers.

"All right," It was Nidus who spoke this time as he regarded the growing crowd. There had already been a significant number here, no doubt from the previous event which both he and Gara had missed. With that in mind both brothers slipped back towards the vantage point they had been instructed to remain at and Thron stepped forward to join the High Priestess.

For now he's wait, no doubt their new Warlord would have several things to say before he would turn his gaze towards those in the crowd to address the specifically, but at the very least he was here...

Tyche had been remarkably calm as chaos had followed her into the Stormborn - the ethereal priestess had gazed out towards the duel between Warlord and Captain with interest and then simply bowed her head as a winner was declared. This was what she had come to the Stormborn for, to guide the young lioness who had shown interest in walking the path of mysticism, and also to learn what it was to be one of these warriors. The path to understanding could often be pathed with fascinating adventures, some of which could have been dangerous had it not been for the arrangements she had made...

Nevertheless Lakshmi had been restless as the pride were summoned, on the one paw she hadn't sought to go into the crowd, yet another part of her wished to see the male who had beaten her cousin. She'd seen him from afar and admired his prowess, but the opportunity to get closer to him seemed like one she shouldn't pass up. She'd been positively vibrating when the striped lioness had fixed her calm gaze upon her and lifted a paw.

...Tyche could not go with her, she had cubs to tend to, but she could encourage Lakshmi to sate her curiosity.

"It is healthy to be curious and mindful of change," Tyche pointed out softly as she waved her paw again, one of the cubs soon mimicking her as they were often wont to do. "You are in a unique period of history. You stand upon the precipice of change. Your world fears the inevitable plunge into the Abyss..." She lifted a brow and gazed up towards the roaring storm above their heads, one that had already begun to erode the coast and display it's true power.

"When that moment comes you should never hesitate to leap, for it is only when you fall that you can learn whether you have the ability to fly," Her smile became warm as Lakshmi considered her words.

It wasn't long before Lakshmi nodded and offered a wave of her own before padding off towards the summoned crowds. She had wanted change hadn't she? She'd specifically said as much to her father and it had been her pleas that had ensured that she'd gotten what she wanted. To hide from this change would be hypocritical and it was with this in mind that the young lioness made her way towards the crowds to see this Ushindi for herself...

For all she saw, she could not change what had been written in the future. Her warnings were too late, her insight too poor. The Warlord she had tried to help had been defeated. Dead? Maybe, but she hoped that at least the last part of her vision would hold true. She believed that blue blur in the night made it towards a safe haven. Perhaps Zjarri'fol would recover and grow old with her children. It was not the way of the pride, to run away and hide from a challenge... but Sakari was not in the mood for more bloodshed.

Perhaps it was her outside blood that tainted her mindset, made her somehow weaker than her peers. Sakari bit her lip, and looked over the group of lions gathered for Ushindi only to notice someone making her way towards her.

The lioness was younger, though not by much. Her dark coat was bald in more than a few spots. The fur upon her lips had completely disappeared, and down her spine she could see the female's pale pink skin. Sickly, ill, but she moved with purpose that unsettled Sakari. "Ah, I was hoping to find you here," the younger lioness purred.

"Who are -"

"Shh!" Mitama raised a paw, beckoning Sakari to stop her meaningless question. "We do not have time to waste. After all, seer, this may be your final day." Mitama stepped up to Sakari, her eyes alight with a passion few could match. "I just want to speak with you before you go..."

Taken aback, both by the lioness' boldness and the words she spoke, Sakari growled low in her throat. "What do you mean?" she snapped. The threat in her response seemed to go over the young lioness' head, and the creature giggled sweetly.

"Please, it is no secret that you were at the late Warlord's beck and call. Both you and your sister made your allegiance to her clear. How many times did you help her? How many times did you run to her with your sight? You both squawked and squealed at anyone who would listen to you!" Mitama couldn't help but laugh. But, ah, she was getting distracted. There was no time for explanations! Surely if Zjarri'fol had been felled, those who supported her would fall as well.

"I served the pride, not the Warlord her -"

"You don't have to defend yourself to me. I don't care. I just have a request to make of you." Mitama felt an itch behind her ear, and cursing underneath her breath took a moment to scratch at it with her back leg. Ah, more fur fell out, but that was no surprise. She had taken a plunge into a fairly... acidic lake. It was too bad that it did not bring her closer to death - she had learned little from the experience.

"When you perish, can you be sure to tell me what it is like to be dead?"

"What?" Sakari hissed.

"When you die. Sa. Ka. Ri." Each syllable was punctuated with a mixture of distaste and excitement. "You are a seer, perhaps you will have more skill in explaining the experience of death to me when you go. I have tried to listen, I have tried to learn... the famine brought so much ripe opportunities. So many bodies! But none could speak to me."

Something clearly plagued this girl's mind, Sakari realized. But the last thing she needed was some deranged female making noise about her ties to Zjarri'fol. "I will not die. Shut up before I make you," the chocolate female threatened.

"Oh," Mitama gasped, the sound small. Was she not ready for death? Then why align herself with someone who had been destined for it so soon? Why had she remained in the pride when her allegiance to Zjarri'fol was no secret? So many questions, and yet she was sure she would receive an answer to none of them. "Well, I suppose we will see. Or, I guess you will before me. Do keep me in mind? When you die."

Creiddylad was nearly beside herself with sheer glee when she learned that Zjarr had been overthrown. Her traditional heart only screamed finally as she ushered her daughters out of their den. None of them had been married off yet, although Creid had been trying. She herself was a mixture of success and failure, and she was going to do her damnest to set her daughters up as well as she could. More successful than her own marriage, at the least. Perhaps with this sudden shift of leadership, her husband would finally get his a** out there on a viking. She needed more thralls to help entice any offerings of marriage, as well as make her sons appear to offer more strength in bloodlines. Her father's bloodline was one of the old and strong ones, but with the fall of Aesir, it had fallen out of favor. Now? Now she felt like she had a chance of really gaining some political power, if she could only work the game correctly.

Ylva politely followed after her mother, though her heart sank. Another day of being paraded around, another day of being passed up for a more 'interesting' woman. It seemed like lighting would have to strike twice for anyone as powerful as a Captain to look at her, so why was her mother so insistent on dragging her out to see the new Warlord? Her olive eyes glanced around her, realizing that Creiddylad was seizing the moment to have any and all eyes look at Ylva. Her stomach shriveled at the thought of more offers being declined, but she kept her head held high. "Keep your back straight and shoulders up," Creid whispered out of the corner of her mouth, and Ylva responded appropriately.

"Good, good" Creid said with a warm smile as she greeted everyone around her. "While today is indeed a good day to die, it is also a good day to finally fetch yourself a husband."

"Yes, Mother," Ylva agreed, not even letting a whine slip from her voice. She was going to be pickier than her mother was, that was certain. As lazy as her father could be (and an awful influence on her brothers), it at least gave Ylva no illusions about love or devotion; she merely wanted a home she could run without having to deffer to her mother's decisions in every aspect of her life. If only she had something more to offer than having Thorgrim's blood running through her...and not the fact that her grandmother was just a saltwife to Gaved. Stormsblood, she would succeed without her mother's assistance.

Vigge shuffled into the crowd that had been gathering, feeling some stares on him as he appeared. He had barely shown himself for over a year, and now here he was again, acting as though he hadn't been a recluse most of the time. It was pathetic really. To call himself a Stormborn still even though he had done little to help the pride other than hunting down food. He hadn't even been in any fights! How could he possibly call himself Freeborn? He might as well have been lowered to the rank of a Thrall for all of the good he had done.

Still though, he had come, knowing that he had to come back into the crowd at some point. After all, this was an extremely important event. They finally had a new leader, and since he had never interacted with the old one, he might as well be seeing who was in charge of the pride now.

User Image
It was the same for Tamala. She hadn't really interacted with the pride too much, instead just going about her duties and fighting when she needed to, but otherwise staying out of all of the messy politics that seemingly changed day to day around the pride. That and she still didn't really have any friends here so she was often by herself.

But hey, there was a gathering now to see they new leader. Might as well see what it was about, right? Maybe she could even meet some other pride members! Though she knew she had to tone it down a bit. She probably seemed a bit too chipper for most of those who were in the pride, and she needed to look tougher and be willing to fight a bit more.

Bryndis had been lying at the mouth of her den in deep reflection, staring up at the sky, when the ravens had circled above and cried out their summons. After a brief pause, the dark lioness rose to her paws and headed off, eager for the formal address. Bryn hated to admit it, but lately, her efforts within the pride had been lackluster in her own opinion. She had worked hard with the hunting parties, had taken more than her turns assisting with the cubs, and had lent her paws wherever needed within the pride, but she had become disheartened that she had not yet achieved a higher rank within the pride and had pretty much stopped trying. She had only been on one viking, and it seemed all her other attempts had been thwarted. A part of the young lioness hoped that, perhaps, this new Warlord may usher in a new era and renew her motivation.

Upon reaching the group, Bryn chose a position near to the back of the small crowd, content with how close she was and knowing the rest of the pride would fill in the space behind her. A brief flash of admiration flashed through Bryn's thoughts; the new Warlord was actually quite attractive. Not one to swoon, the thought was more matter-of-fact than giggly, but a thought nonetheless, and quickly pushed aside as Ushindi spoke.

"Today is a good day to die." The shadow-blanketed lioness silently mouthed the greeting in return with a nod of her head, focused intently on the large male above her. Her ears perked forward and her eyes narrowed at the next statement. Trying to reign in a suspicious unease, Bryn settled back on her haunches and sat a little straighter, awaiting a more detailed explanation.

Sunnbein had already been hanging around near the center of the pride when the ravens began their rounds. As such, she was fairly close to the front of the crowd as it gathered, and was able to watch their new Warlord as he stalked proudly to his platform. She watched with great interest, taking in the details of his adornments, her favorite being the skull-clad cord that kept the pelt on his back from slipping. She personally wished that he wouldn't have covered his face, but admitted that the skull he wore had the intended affect of letting everyone know immediately what he was capable of.

Preferring to stand, Sunna gave her Warlord her full attention as was expected, dusty rose eyes trained on her leader. She was very aware that her sun-glow pelt and her position in the crowd may draw attention, but there wasn't much she could do about it now, as the crowd filled out behind her.

She stood in silence through Ushindi's words, though at the last, her ear flicked with minor irritation and concern. Sunnbein had heard the word before. Usually in reference to those with rogue blood. Like her mother. And her siblings and self. The sunfire lioness waiting impatiently for the follow-up.

As the ravens screeched above her, Kira's head swung up. Her ears flicked with uncertainty as she tried to decide if she should go to this meeting. Would Thralls even be allowed? Without her Tryggr in the vicinity, she needed to make a decision for herself, and the intimidating-looking lioness - who didn't have a malicious bone in her body or on her pelt - chose to attend.

She padded forward as confidently as she could muster, knowing from Tryggr's stories that not all the Captains, Reavers or even Freeborn were friendly with the Thralls. Kira was more relieved than she could explain when she reached the gathered lions and almost immediately spotted her daughter's golden pelt.

She padded over to Sunnbein quickly and brushed her muzzle against her daughter's flank. She dared not speak with their Warlord upon his dais, and sat close enough that her side rested against Sunna's as Ushindi started to speak. Never one to mind change, Kira also remained unnaffected until the final words, having been exposed to some cruel words - which likely would have been more than just words if not for Tryggr - that weren't too far off from the Warlord's own. Sensing her daughter's slight unrest, Kira forced her fear down and focused on maintaining her usual, calm smile.

As dutiful as ever, Rakan only nodded and followed his fearless leader in silence. He was his right paw, his loyal companion, and there wasn't anything that need be said between them now - Ushindi had come and he had conquered.

Rakan had never doubted him for a moment.

The wing-marked lion stepped to the side with a sidelong glance to his wife as he did, making room for Ushindi to stand at the center of attention as lions poured from every inch of the pride lands to hear him speak. His attention was as rapt as any other's; it was not chance that had bound him to the new Warlord, it was a lifelong friendship and a belief that this male was stronger and more capable than any of those that would stand up to him. As his pale blue eyes watched him, his passion and awe was as evident as a young cub's.

Where Ushindi went, Rakan would follow.

The first part of the dark male's speech came to a lull and Rakan took the moment to interject with his approval and admiration:

"Aye, Ushindi!" his voice was loud and melodic and a smirk had already begun curling at the edge of his lips, "hear, hear!"

It was only a small voice of approval, support of the changes that Ushindi was bringing and that Rakan had already known were coming. Yet, it mattered. Rakan's skills were not just sight but charm and he knew his vocal support would reach the ears of others, dissuade some of their fears on even the tiniest of levels. He was a gnat in the ear, whispering.

"Mitaaaama," a voice cried, low and whining, as a similar figure came into view. She was clearly of Mitama's ilk, though her fur lacked the bald spots that had resulted from a rather careless dip in a very nasty lake. Iza, for what is was worth, had stayed home. Like a good girl.

With that thought in mind, the dark lioness sidled up to her sister and leveled a stare on the pink-eyed female she could tell Mitama was harassing even from a distance. Iza would have liked to say that she had come to rescue her but, in truth, she hadn't. Iza only wanted to be at the center of attention and with her parents and most of their siblings gone away and a new Warlord rolling back in town - well, that meant that she was going to stick to Mitama like glue.

"Are you badgering others again?" she crooned, rolling her bloody eyes up to her sister's as she leaned into Mitama's shoulder dramatically and let her weight press into her. As their eyes met, her mouth formed a purse and her tongue clicked disapprovingly behind her teeth. "Tsk, tsk."

She had never paid much attention to the ongoing's of the pride. Perhaps she should have. Flicking her tail she followed the call of the ravens and spotted a familiar face. Moving close to her brother she took a seat. "What do you think of all this so far?" She said looking at him with a raised brow.

Valka gave a small sneer, this was just great. Turning to her sister and brother she let out a low growl. "This is great, so now I HAVE to go out with a male, just can't go on my own anymore. You think you'd be up for the challenge?" Njord gave her a sideways glance. He lifted a paw and laughed. "I HAVE NEVER gone on one of those yet. You expect me to now?" Though, IF she really needed someone might as well be him right? "Fine, I suppose since you've asked so nicely." Risa looked over towards her siblings and niece and gave a shrug. "Honestly I'm fine with sticking in the pride, my sights had always been set on priestess anyway." She wasn't really into the whole going out and taking names anyway. She tended to keep to herself for the most part, plus she had her kids, who seemed to want to do that so she could live through them vicariously. "You could always bring your daughter and mine along, though Melanthe only went because of Ernaline I think." Laughing at how bossy that girl was she watched as Valka rolled her eyes.

"THAT GIRL is something else......" It was true, her daughter was unlike most of their family but that was fine. She did what she thought was right for herself and that was all Valka cared about. "I bet I can become a priestess before you Auntie Risa." The black and orange female said with a laugh. "I think I'll take you up on that bet."

"You know your mother is quite the looker." Milas gave a look of disgust over towards Raizen as he said that. "Dude, don't talk about her like that too me please. Especially since we share the same father." Raizen gave a shrug, she was no relation to him, it was just fate that him and Milas shared the same dad. Raizen however knew she was single and un-attached and liked to tease Milas about that, even if he might never act upon it himself. Bhumi wasn't too far away from where her son stood and moved closer to the two males. "I'm not sure I'm liking most of what I'm hearing." The female was timid as it was and given how things were currently going she wasn't entirely sure she felt safe in the pride, especially since it was clear that Ragnvard wasn't interested in her for mate reasons. Which had upset her a great deal. "I'm sure everything will work out mom." Milas said leaning into her lightly.

Rana was concerned about this new warlord, though she had no say in anything for the most part. She knew Bastion would keep her safe, he was good like that, plus she had her kids. Raksha especially looked after her, she was the only mother he'd ever known and he loved her a great deal. "You won't have anything to worry about." He said looking over at her. He had recently come back from a viking with his father and they had some things to talk about it, but that could wait till later. Rana looked over towards him and the nerves in her stomach settled a little, still she was nervous. He didn't seem so nice and that had her concerned even if what he was doing was good for the pride, for the most part.

The albino thrall felt out of place and kept towards the back of the crowd. Giving a flick of his tail he watched and listened, wondering what might come next from the males mouth, especially when it came to what changes were going to take place. Though he spotted another thrall not far away and decided to approach her. Safety in numbers right? "Hello."

Another day, another new Warlord. Eir sat quietly among those gathered as Ushindi began his speech, keeping her thoughts strictly at the back of her mind for now. She was here to hear him out, learn his platform, and decide from there if it seemed sound or not. She knew the Stormborn was built on old traditions that had fallen out of fashion recently and from the way he was speaking it seemed that it was the route he was going to do. Being a Lawspeaker she knew the history of the pride and for a former Warlord's son to be in power wasn't the worst thing that could happen to a pride, but it would certainly stagnate with the same ideas being regurgitated over and over.

Still, she remained neutral for now, although she did raise a brow at the way he said 'tainted'. That would be something to keep an eye on.

---

Vidar sat in the crowd as well but he wasn't as relaxed as Eir was. He was watching and listening with a frown on his face, not fond of the way he'd gone about claiming the title. There was a time and a place to challenge the Warlord and he'd gone out of turn, deciding that now was the time rather than the Breytast Vindar. His reaction to the start of Ushindi's speech was much more visceral than Eir's as well, his lips pulling back in a silent laugh. Tainted? Misguided? How long had it been since this male had even had his paws in the pride? Vidar didn't remember seeing him anywhere, never heard his name before now. Who was he to come here and tell them their ways were misguided?

"This is gonna be great," he said to no one in particular, rolling his eyes ever so slightly as he waited to hear what else was going to change.

[Both are open for interaction! Eir is neutral, Vidar is not of the traditional mindset]

The red-maned lion nodded to his sister when she approached. "I'm not sure. I don't even know what he means by 'tainted'. Unless it's purely evil such as cult members, then I'm assuming it's something about the pride that has changed that he doesn't agree with. But until he tells us what the "things" are that have become tainted, then I can't say I agree or disagree." He murmured, as though he was still mulling over his thoughts. Though he would probably disagree. He was a lot more easygoing in terms of changes to the pride. Sure, he still did what he needed to as a Freeborn to help the pride, but otherwise he stayed out of the politics. "I will say I don't like how he immediately starts with that sort of talk though."

He turned his head to her. "I hope you've been good sister?" They hadn't talked in so long, it was amazing that he hadn't been considered dead from his inactivity with his own family.

Snorre was a lazy lion. He was well known to be a flower-blooded good-for-nothing layabout and he was perfectly fine with all the insults because he simply didn't care. He had a wife who cared and she hadn't done much to change his ways, though her tendency to blame him for their lazy sons and unmarried daughters was getting worse the older they all got.. he had a bad feeling when he heard the raven's screeching call to the Warlord, and when he heard Ushindi speak he knew he was screwed.

"Stormlords' balls," he muttered to himself, feeling a sudden squeeze around his leg as Nanna made her presence known. She was more amused by his distress than anything, but she was also technically his thrall around here.. the harder things got for him, the harder things would be for her, too. The snake could guess as well as him that their time was up.

"Over there," Nanna hissed, slithering away from Snorre a few feet to point him in the direction of Creiddylad. Snorre frowned and looked off to where his wife, looking happier than he had seen her in a long time, was leading around the most dutiful of their daughters.

Great.

He could ignore the crowd and their new Warlord.. the real question was could he avoid his wife? Snorre did not do himself any favours and simply watched his ladies from a distance, trying to figure out what poor Ylva must be thinking.
