In her desperation to find a magic 'cure' for her mother, Na'ani had snuck out of the den again earlier that day. Her mother was too weak to notice or even stop her, and her father was so distracted by trying to find herbs for Yhe that it left the twins with a precarious amount of freedom. Na'ani did not want to rely on others for help, especially not after a black and bone-marked lion cub had told her that asking for help was weak. But, she had no other options left.
She had tried to get help for their mother, but had made no real progress. Some lions had advice for her that seemed based on superstition alone, and others just didn't care. A priestess had handed her herbs and told her that they would 'ease her mother's pain'... but she did not trust it. Those herbs had gotten scattered to the wind after just one curious sniff. They had smelled rotten.
So, without anything to show for her efforts, she made her way back home to the family den. Her head was bowed lowed and her tail hung limp behind her as she dragged herself towards Na'anu. Her pup, Nebu, had tried her best to cheer up her friend, and had even tried to engage her in play... but Na'ani was in no mood for playtime.
"I'm sorry," she announced to Na'anu, knowing that she had likely disappointed her twin along with her mother and father. "I haven't been able to figure anything out at all to help mother."
