Biography tab• • 》Born as, Kazuhira Saito, despite preferring his self-entitled stage name; "Ichiro Sato", Ichiro lives on the second floor of a fabric store in Ecruteak City along with his mother; who owned the family run store, and his father; who was a woodworker that worked outside of the city. Ichiro loved his family and enjoyed helping his mother at the store whenever she needed him after school. Mainly, six-year-old Ichiro helped his mother by acting as a human armature, allowing her to make adjustments to any clothes she made from the patterns she had illustrated. Ichiro preferred working with his mother as he loved wearing the clothes she created, no matter how big they were on him, as it gave him a chance to dress up and play pretend. His mother also kept a small female Skitty around the store that Ichiro loved to play with, as it also happened to be the family pet and loved the balls of yarn that were kept around the shop.
When Ichiro wasn’t around his mother’s store, he’d write plays and short stories in his spare time, and would perform them alongside his father’s spare pokemon in the backyard. His mother had a history of playwrights on her side of the family, so she was the one that actively encouraged Ichiro to pursue the actively and had even convinced his father to build a small stage – which was more like a glorified deck at the back of the small yard – for Ichiro to perform his skits upon. She’d even create costumes for him and the three pokemon (Skitty included) that he played with. His father’s Scyther and Magby often took on easy character roles or provided simple special effects for each scene (such as Scyther slicing up ice cubes for snow), while Skitty remained a cute extra on stage, filling no real role in particular, but simply liked following along with whatever was happening on stage. Proud of his work, Ichiro was eager to show neighbourhood kids his plays, which they enjoyed to a small extent, but had more fun participating in as well. At one point, eight-year-old Ichiro began putting more effort into his work, going as far as having his father help him with creating props and sets for his plays and even began charging other kids 100 to watch. His father was even kind enough to create benches for a tiny audience to be seated.
Always searching for new inspiration, Ichiro one day found it at the local Kimono Dance Theatre. When his mother took him to see the performance one night, Ichiro instantly fell in love with the Kimono girl’s beautiful attire and graceful dancing, and knew he wanted to do something similar. Though, upon presenting the idea to his friends, he was met with instant ridicule. They laughed and scoffed at the idea, labeling it as a girly activity and that he had to be a girl in order to pull it off. Determined to prove his friends wrong, Ichiro collaborated with his mother and came up with a design for his own Kimono. However, he wasn't satisfied with the material at his mother’s shop since it wasn't as beautiful as the patterns that the Kimono girls wore. Ichiro begged his father to take him to the next city over, Olivine, in the hopes of finding better material, but his father refused. Persistent and feeling rebellious, Ichiro packed up his allowance, got out his bike and headed off on his own to Olivine. Being nervous, had decided to bring the family Skitty along with him, since it was the first time he had ever left his home city on his own.
He ended up making it to his destination and soon found a fabric store with all sorts of intricate materials to choose from. Unable to decided, the blonde energetic kid ended up spending all his allowance on six bolts of silk material before heading back home. He was grounded for about a week for disobeying his father's wishes, but Ichiro considered it worth it. As a small thank you to Skitty for coming along with him on his journey, Ichiro had decided to create a small Kimono-like outfit for his little companion, while his mother worked on bringing Ichiro's child-drawn kimono patterns to fruition. The project took almost two weeks to complete, as his mother could only work on his commission during her spare time. Though, one benefit from forfeiting that time, was that she was able to bond with her son while she also taught him to sew and create clothing from patterns. The Kimono she had completed was perfect in Ichiro's eyes (maybe not 100% his ideas, as his mother put some of her unique touches into it as well), and he couldn't wait to try it on. Sort of blessed with androgynous features, the outfit looked stunning on him, and Ichiro couldn't help but veraciously thank his mother for her work.Over the next couple days, he got to work practising his own variation of the Kimono girls' dance.
When the day of his performance arrived, the neighbourhood kids hated his act, and ended up mercilessly teasing him, even more this time around, for dressing himself up like a Kimono girl. When Ichiro tried to detest their rude statements, some of the older kids decided to get rough with him and had pushed him down in some dirt, tearing his costume while they beat up on him for being... different. Luckily this had all taken place right when his father had returned home from work and he ended up chasing off the kids. Ichiro's father didn't much understand his son’s interests in dressing up like he did, he might have even wondered if it was his wife's doing, but had tried to convince his son that if he continued the act and dress the way he did, the kids would only continue to be mean to him. Unfortunately, Ichiro didn't take his father's words to heart and only continued doing what he enjoyed, regardless of what his 'friends' thought of him. Even when he was teased at school increasingly with each new grade he entered, Ichiro didn't let their bullying get to him. He just sort of went along with their jokes and continued to act as though they were his friends, as it was his own way of shrugging it off. Ichiro knew he wanted to become some sort of entertainer, and so seemingly constant heckling never deterred him from his interests. Upon learning of the Ordell pokemon Academy, Ichiro knew he wanted to enrol. It would not only get him away from his current bullies, but the idea of learning how to become a respectable pokemon coordinator, fascinated him immensely. It's what he really wants to do with his life.
