"History Living"Eterna City is a city in the region of Sinnoh; it is an older city, showing the signs of history. There is a rather large statue of an ancient Pokémon (in Diamond, it is named as Dialga, in Pearl, Palkia, and in Platinum, it is a combination of both) on the east side of town. The statue was once the main center of festivals in the town, although signs of the town's culture and rituals have started to slip away. An old city that shows fading and almost-forgotten vestiges of ancient history. A Gym is indispensable in any town that has many people coming and going. This city is no exception. The Cycle Shop is located here. There is also a big building with a slightly sinister atmosphere. A statue of an ancient Pokémon is prominently and reverently displayed.◊Places Around Eterna ◊回 Eterna Condominiums回 Eterna Gym回 Rad Rickshaw's Cycle Shop◊Wild Pokemon ◊

“Bubba!” “Eyyy!” Marcus smiled as Lexie catapulted herself onto him, easily picking up his five-year-old sister and spinning her around a couple of times. He felt more than heard Harvey stifle and make some excuse about needing to use the restroom. The trip home had been… a bit weird, and that wasn’t just because of the concussion. First, there had been his father getting called away on a job or something, Marcus couldn't properly remember, and Harvey having to be the one to take him home. Marcus had almost offered to travel by himself at the look on his older brother’s face, but apparently, that wasn’t allowed. He needed an adult to travel with. ( which struck him as odd since he remembered a lot of students boarding the train with no family present, but then who was he to argue) And Harvey was an adult...and his only blood relative not at a construction job or a ranger meeting in Kanto ( which was where his mother had been) Then he had found Elijah and found out this was to be his first Christmas without his brother. Marcus had wanted to help and had wound up inviting him to spend the holiday with him. Elijah’s parents had been at the district to pick him up and after meetings and talks with the adults, an agreement had been made for the boys to spend the holiday together. Marcus had spent the ride back talking to his friend and glancing back at his brother.
After they had arrived Marcus had devoted himself to unpacking and answering questions a mile a minute from his baby sister. ( what were the other kids like? And did he get to see pokemon? Did he get to battle? What does the food taste like? Did they really eat Green Rice? What did That taste like?)
Marcus had answered the questions to the best of his abilities and with an ease that only came from being an older brother for as long as he had, keeping an eye on the door every now and then as he wondered when his mother would come home.
That year Hannukah and Christmas would fall on the same day, unlike last year when Hannukah had started 20 days before Christmas day and ended a full five days before it and Marcus had been able to attend both family gatherings.
He just knew his parents would be having words about just where he'd spend the 25th, and they wouldn't be nice ones.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- That next morning Marcus walked around Eterna forest feeling something like relief wash over him. It was crazy really, he hadn’t realized how much he missed the forest until he was back here. Sure there was a forest back in Ordell but well...it just wasn’t the same. His feet took him through logs and winding paths, paths he had learn through his walks through the forest since he and the neighborhood kids were able to make their way there. The canopy was high and threatening and a crisp chill permeated the forest but Marcus like all the children in Eterna had grown up with this as their backyard. He smiled when noticed a few oddish huddling together to ward off the cold. Above him, a few aipoms swing from trees Maybe I can get some pictures of them, he thought, send them to Eve. The thought of his friend brought a smile to his face, he’d have to see about getting her something for Christmas ( he didn’t celebrate it but he knew she did) and Tera too and- He felt something like worry when he thought of Ray. The first student to be his friend hadn’t contacted him ever since he and Kirsi had that shouting match. He had been too concussed to really ask about him after the dragon event but Elijah had said he had been with him and Harvey when the dragon attack had occurred. Next to him Valiant gave out a cry and ran off, Marcus smiled, keeping his distance from the herd of Slaking and slakoths that nested here. They were Valiant’s family and they were happy to see him welcoming the newly evolved ape pokemon with hoots and hollers and jumps of jubilation. Marcus smiled ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coming out of the forest he felt somewhat refreshed after the walk, Marcus was somewhat surprised to see his brother-half brother, he was very adamant about the ‘half’ part- standing outside the house with his bag and motorcycle. “You...you’re leaving” He wasn’t sure if he said it or asked it but he knew he was right.

And now you’ll lead the way Show the light of day Harvey Jay Bennet -Breeding Teacher- Harvey looked over at his brother, as always feeling something that made him grit his teeth when the boy’s brown eyes fixed on him. Just that morning, a woman with the same brown eyes had fixed him with such a stare of dislike, it had actually stopped him in his tracks. Yeah your welcome for bringing your kid home you- The rest of the sentence, even in his mind had had to be censored. With his luck when it came to this house, his step-mother would hear him somehow. Matilda Bennett had never like her stepson and Harvey had to admit he himself harbored little love for his father’s second wife. The woman had kicked him out when he was twelve just to make sure her son grew up in a healthy environment. ( and Harvey? Well Harvey had been left to his luck and a string of abusive stepfathers but who cared about him right?) From what he saw, Marcus hadn’t been spared much. Sure, it was hell of a nicer place than Harvey had grown up in-on account Marcus and his toddler sister had a mother who actually cared about them but still...the mutual dislike he had seen between his stepmother and father had been...pretty palpable. And from how quickly Marcus went upstairs he had been pretty aware of it too. It stirred something in him, to see the kid be in a place where the tension was so strong. Even more to see exactly why Marcus seemed to have a tendency to wander off. It made him angry. They had sent him off to the wolves, had cast him out and left him alone and all so that they could mess up again?! Really? “You know they don't like you wandering around like that” he said to the boy when Marcus asked if he was leaving. Yes, yes he was. Harvey had found that aside from visiting his grandparents, there wasn’t a single thing about Eterna that really called memories of a home for him. If anything, it was a stark reminder of everything his family had put him through. He had brought his brother home, like his father had asked of him. “I’m spending some time with Elly-with Ms. Myers” he said remembering Marcus wouldn’t know Elaine’s nickname. From the surprised look on his younger brother’s face, he wouldn’t even know that he and Elaine were friends. Not that it’s exactly the students’ business what the teacher’s do in their free time;. “I'll be back in Lamia by Christmas time. Got some people to visit. I’ll see you back in school” he said surprising himself by how...gentle he sounded “take care of yourself Mr.Bennett” Marcus made a face at the prefix before he seemed to remember something “Oh wait!” digging into the bag he had taken to the forest with him, he took out a few wrapped boxes “it’s...it’s for Ray..can you take ‘em? Since you’re going that way?” “Tch..now I’m Santa Claus?” he asked but took the presents nonetheless. I’m gonna have to get something for Elly, he thought as he mounted his bike, maybe Mike would have some ideas His brother’s home in Floraoma city, after all, wasn’t too far from here….maybe...maybe it’d be okay for Harvey to go see him. He hadn’t seen his older brother since they both were kids but… But….well he had already had a reunion with his father and stepmother what was one more estranged relative really? He could see Jubilife after that, head back to Celestic and visit the daycare couple that had put him up back when he had started school then head off to Snowpoint...shouldn’t delay him from more than a week. The bike took off and left Eterna in the dust, Harvey glanced at the mirror and barely caught Marcus waving him off before he was gone

Feeling: Company: Pokemon out :
Marcus had been peeling up potatoes to put into the crockpot for dinner and gave out a slow hiss as he nicked himself, having been distracted by his pokegear going off. He put down the peeler he had been using-he had learned not to take out the bigger knives after his mother had found him with one and yelled at his father for a good two hours. It wasn't his dad's fault. He had had to work late, and Marcus had known which way to cut and usually had his grandmother coming over to supervise and do the tough stuff...it was just she had been held up at the shop that day. But his mom had still blown a gasket. Marcus, who had been learning more and more just what measures he could take to keep his parents from fighting-although they weren't always effective- had made it a point to ask his grandmother for the peeler. His mother at least had looked somewhat pacified. After putting the peeler down he picked up his gear from where he had placed it on the counter and, after drying his hands, picked it up. It was a text from Eli. He glanced back into the living room where his parents were.."talking" and considered telling them he was going out "We had an agreement Nick!" "We never signed! It's not a goddammed contract Tilly just why-" "So you're keeping them?" "For Christmas? Yeah I'm keeping them! What makes you think you'd just be able to-" ...[Theeeeey seem busy. He thought before heading out through the backdoor in the kitchen. Eterna was build on nature and most every house had been build with little patch of land to be employed as a backyard. Marcus' father had started building a porch on it-it sat there half-fnished among other half-finished projects. Marcus felt some guilt over that. He had been helping his dad with it on weekends before going to Ordell. Marcus sat down on the stable part, taking care that it didn't woble-it shouldn't, he had been sitting out here since he was seven, back when he couldn't go to the forest by himself but still wanted to be out of the house. But it never hurt to be sure. Once he was situated he flipped open his gear and booped the little envelope icon which was glowing with a number next to it. A message from Eli. Marcus frowned at the mention of knives cutting tenstion, wincing when the screams inside got high enough to make it outside.
Quote: Yeah I can imagine, he typed out, we're gonna go get you tonight. Hope you're ready yourself XD
A calendar appeared in his mind. His mother would be leaving this afternoon-early this afternoon by the sound of the fight. They would get Elijah that night-Lexie would have to stay with his grandparents at the herb shop unless his mother took her with her ( although he didn't think...she wouldn't do that right? Split them up for Christmas? No way) Then they would spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at his uncle Cooper's right here in Eterna. Maybe he would show Elijah around the forest and the route he usually biked in where wild buizels could be found in the spring. They might even be able to go camping! Then fly again to Kanto for Hannukah and bring it all back here for New Year's and then back to the academy, the boy thought his spirits lifting.
Quote: You already got me the scarf thoooo, he typed out when Elijah mentioned presents. He knew he had gotten Ray and Harvey something. But well, Ray's gift had been just a journal from his grandfather's store and a book on photography he had found at his aunt's last year ( they were both in good condition) Lexie he knew he had covered with the Charizard plushie he had gotten from the lamia festival. His cousins Noah he was giving yet another of the plushies and some postcards from the district. Tera he had found a Charizard necklace for at one of the tourist attractions at the airport. The kind they sold for dimes and nickles. He had also snuck in something for Harvey...just cause of good faith. That left Eve and Elijah. The other two people he had gotten close to at Ordell. He couldn't had asked for too much money to spend. Marcus knew they his family wasn't exactly swimming in it. And he had worked out for the plane ticket to get Eli to be his Christmas present...and possibly his next birthday presents too. But he got to see Elijah and help him out, so Marcus figured it was fair. Maybe I can get some ideas on the way there. He thought. There wasn't a straight plane ride from Sinnoh to Hoenn after all, at least not from Eterna to Mauville. He knew he'd have to make a stop somewhere in between. ( it was the same way when he and the family traveled to Kanto). With this in mind, he jumped down from the half-finished porch and headed back inside. It was getting cold out and he really needed to finish up at the kitchen.
OutOfChillComments: do you mind if we skip to just Marcus getting Elijah or him being at Eterna just to speed things along? Or did you have plans for when Marcus and his dad got to Mauville? ( either way is fine with me) Word Count: 688 >>
