Flydra was very excited. It was her first time to the YTMA and she was getting to share it with none other than the wonderful and perfect Lorata Gorgos. She trailed behind the purpleblood by a half step to show her respect but stuck close enough to make it clear to onlookers that they were together. She adored her seadweller friend more than words could articulate.

The two of them entered the classroom for the leadership novice lesson. It was Lorata's destiny to become a great leader so it made sense for them to start there. Flydra had shown up to pick up tips in case she would need any of this information on the battle field as a military doctor. Leadership skills might be useful when trying to command troops to safety where she could then treat them.

"Gerbil battles... interesting." She murmured upon seeing their first activity. It wasn't that the tealblood disliked animals but that she preferred to observe other trolls instead. But she would do her duty. Surveying the available choices, she picked out a strong but risky team in order to leave the best overall gerbils available for Lorata to use. It was important to ensure that the highblood looked the best no matter what.

"Attack, gerbils." She began the battle against an instructor, watching the wiggling animals flail about in heated combat.

"You can do it." Flydra said lamely, watching her gerbils roll around and weakly nibble on each other. It was difficult to understand how to properly command her soldiers when she couldn't communicate with them. The tealblood supposed that was part of the lesson. She decided to imitate the squeaking noises they made in hopes of coaxing them on in their own language. Surprisingly, one of her gerbils did manage to land a decent hit on the enemy.

"Lorata, I'm rooting for you." She glanced at her dear friend, balling her fists up into a "fight" pose to cheer the seadweller on.

"Thank you, Lora, I know we're both going to win. Isn't that right?" Lorata was doing well and Flydra did a small round of applause for her cherished leader. She glared at the rest of the classroom until they joined in. It was important to celebrate successes like these, especially for the extremely talented and gifted highbloods. And Lorata was the pinnacle of graceful and skillful seadwellers, almost on par with the Queen.

"Just a little more to go and then you can rest." Flydra encouraged her fuzzy little warriors. Were there extra treats to give the winners? She wasn't sure. Maybe she'd sneak them some of the sweet and sour gummies in her purse afterwards. Her gerbils continued to scrape by and earn a point.

"After this, we should celebrate with ice cream." A nice big sundae sounded good, almost as tasty as victory.

Flydra's gerbils were starting to get overly aggressive while the instructors began to wander around lost. The pigtailed scientist pouted as she watched them completely miss each other. It was starting to put her on edge how nervous she was about potentially losing. She knew she was one of the weaker sirens and wanted to make up for it with her strategy and intelligence.

"I think our gerbils are defective." She whispered to Lorata, very concerned about the quality of soldiers they had been provided with. If only she could enhance them with a couple of steroids to up their aggression and strength.

She had managed to do well until this point but her gerbils were starting to get confused and lose focus. She lost two points and barely managed to win one back. Flydra gripped the side of the desk and watched her gerbils with a very unhappy frown. Her eyes could've drilled holes into them for this pathetic performance. Way to make her look bad in front of Lorata and all the other pupils.

"Attack from the rear, you dogs!" Her temper rarely got the better of her but it was starting to come out. Ooh how she itched to just punch the instructor in the face instead of playing gerbil games.

Flydra wanted to cry. Her gerbils were not cooperating. Every time they managed to score a point, they also managed to lose it shortly afterwards. Her mood plummeted worse upon watching Lorata's progress. Some a*****e had clearly given Lorata the moronic gerbils to use which was a definite act of malice. A paranoid part of Flydra had her wondering if Lorata's enemies were some how involved in this act of disrespect. That couldn't be, right? They couldn't possibly be here watching or interfering.

"This is ridiculous. You must perform better than this, gerbils." Flydra could not hide the disappointment and frustration in her voice as she looked down at her warriors with obvious hatred.

Upon her next lost point, Flydra decided to try a different strategy. Maybe this was all much more meta than she thought. Maybe the gerbil game wasn't the leadership and strategy part. Maybe it was her interaction with the instructors and other students. She wrote down the instructor's name in a notepad, careful to spell it correctly. She also jotted down the a*****e battling Lorata. Later they could ask the other sirens to go with them to vandalize their hives or humiliate them in some other way. Flydra didn't care what the punishment was as long as they suffered for this.

"Is this reverse psychology night? No! You're supposed to win, not flop over and roll!"
