I wrote this poem a while ago. It's called the Lament of the Eternal, and is kind of sad and depressing... It is about a drow who is created using a form of evil magic which doesn't allow him to get hurt or die, and so he will live forever. He goes mad with grief when he sees all around him dying, because for him a year is an instant. Here it is, tell me what you think. ^^'
The Lament of the Eternal
The hands on the wheel of time
Keep passing by
Yet I remain unchanging
Immortal
Eternal
Part of the earth from which I was created.
Never aging, never dying.
And yet
Would I wish this life upon another?
To wander the earth, alone save for the beating of a heart?
And even that is empty.
My mind asks, "Why? Why is it my fate to walk the earth
Until the and of all things and the world's finish?"
To which my heart replies, "Why not?"
I am bound to my fate.
How long will I wander these lonely hills
Yearning for freedom, searching for an exit
Trying to escape.
It is futile.
No famine or disease can claim me
Nor sword or arrow take my life.
I am part of Forever.
How I long for my death.
To fade from existance and memory
And to wander no longer.
But it is not to be.
My life, my curse, continues.
Time still flows without me.
I remain Eternal.
The Lament of the Eternal
The hands on the wheel of time
Keep passing by
Yet I remain unchanging
Immortal
Eternal
Part of the earth from which I was created.
Never aging, never dying.
And yet

And even that is empty.
