[PRP] walk on vanity ruins (algie & jeremiah & pride)

The first place they would check was Blackfriars in other ashdown. It was why they appeared there, Jeremiah's arm curled around Algie's (though not necessary for bringing him with him) as he looked around.

"I believe Preacher spoke with Pride in the past few weeks but it's likely best to start here looking for him." He glanced towards Algie with a small smile, looking towards the building and heading inside.

... and, yes, he had left Algie with the clothing gathering for Pride, though he had offered his opinions (it was tucked away in the same space that he thought those bear arms came from).

Any trip that was preceded by shopping was good in Alg's book. Their purpose of course was gravely important to both of them.. but being able to attach shopping tipped the scales slightly.

"I haven't been here..." Alg mused aloud, giving their surroundings a glance. "Let's hope we aren't in for any ugly surprises..." His free hand settled on Jeremiah's arm in his and squeezed.

There was nothing untoward, though the books had been further shredded, and there was some kind of faint crashing off in the distance. It was getting closer; as they approached the stairs, the smallish silhouette of Pride could be seen: dark hair flying about his face as he clutched his head.

He didn't seem to notice they were there.

"Aside that Pride's magic is unstable-" Jeremiah cut off as they heard the crashing sound and came to the stairs. His eyes were bright, focused sharply on the smaller form of Pride.

A glance was given to Algie before he called out. "Pride?" It wasn't a yell, no need to do so, but his voice carried itself well.

Was this the effects of having been disconnected from the previous world and it's magic and cycles?

The sound of crashing, especially in a library, hit very specific areas of worry for the Professor. Pride looked wild from what they could see and he gave his husband a glance. His arm loosened, unsure what may be coming with the triplet's unstable abilities.

There was no need for him to call out as well, but he made sure they continued towards the racket and movement.

Pride noticed them then, glancing over wide-eyed and panicking. "Don't come any closer," he said, voice even higher with worry. "I don't know if I can control it, just stay--stay over there, okay? I can talk just fine from here--"

A window shattered nearby and Pride flinched.

"Alright," Jeremiah called back, looking sharply as the window shattered. He looked back towards Pride and then once to Algie. This is worse than before, the thought was spoken to Algie (still not quite used to the fact that he could do that.

"We came to talk to you and Alg picked some things up for you."

"Clothes," Alg piped up finally, though he did pause in walking forward as requested. "Decent clothes."

Sometimes one only needed some small gesture of normalcy to feel even slightly better. It didn't fix things but he knew that he never felt quite together without the right clothes. Perhaps for someone called 'Pride' that also wasn't so far from the truth.

Let's be careful, Alg sent back to his husband with a glance.

Pride's stare flickered from Jeremiah to Algie and back again. He seemed to relax as the two older men spoke to him, and he eased down from a standing position to sit on the floor. "Okay," he said. "Keep talking? It helps to have something to focus on."

An errant breeze (hopefully it was a breeze) fluttered some torn pages about. Pride tangled his hands in his hair.

"Has it been getting worse?" Jeremiah asked, concerned that this was the case. With a flick of his hand the small parcel of clothing that had been brought along dropped into his hands and was offered over to Algie.

The last time he had used magic to carry his jacket over to Pride, so as to not approach and honor what had been asked (to not come close). Jeremiah glanced towards the fluttering pages and the breeze (was it just a breeze? his eyes were focused on them looking for errant magic).

Alg got the bag and set it down. Instead of approaching he crouched to rummage lightly and produce a finely cut shirt and pants.

"I eyeballed the sizes.." With enough slender young people in his life he was able to figure it out. A jacket was also produced, more casual than at the ball but in a similar stylish military design. Maybe Jeremiah could reclaim his own jacket. "But I think you'll like them.."

He normally wasn't one to interrupt important conversation but Pride had asked them to keep talking. To save him from approaching, a pair of bear arms seemed to emerge from nowhere with a warm aura and hold the clothes, very delicately pinched in claws, up for inspection.

Pride wasn't exactly slender, but he brightened so much at the clothes that it was hard to imagine he would give a s**t if they didn't fit perfectly. He took them from the bear arms, but didn't change then and there. (Why wouldn't he be shy about his body, anyway? The tits themselves were a dead giveaway as to the source of his discomfort.)

"Thank you," he said. "It's... not going well, no."

It was hard to not smile himself when Pride lit up like that. "There's some more as well for you." The entire bag was for Pride to have with a wide assortment of things within. Still, he frowned slightly at the mention of it not going well.

"Is it hurting you?" Since Pride had been clutching his head. A glance was given to Algie before he looked back. "We're in the process of working out a method of destruction for the old Charter, as well as creating a new one. Hopefully that will help you in the process." As well as Pax and Noeh.

Alg held the bag up and waggled it in the crook of his thumb. There were a variety of things in all cuts and colors. All of it was, of course, tasteful (in the opinion of the men who bought them of course).

His brow furrowed, not like seeing Pride in such obvious distress, "I may be able to help you focus.." He held out his free hand, "I've a knack for it."

The Professor's hands could help calm or focus him, but only if he felt it was safe to do so. If not, if the magical contact wasn't acceptable, they would simply continue to be careful.

"We were hoping to just speak with you a while."

Pride climbed to his feet and inched closer to Algernon, finally putting his hand in Algie's. He took a deep breath, relieved, and... sat back down.

"It's tiring more than anything," said Pride. "And mudras sometimes help with focusing magic. It's like... since Pax and the Hermione Granger girl are out of commission, the magic has nowhere to go but through me."

He sighed.
