Strider couldn't believe this. Of all the days to fall unlucky, it had to be this one. It had started out good, oh yes. He'd stared into his mirror for hours, kissed his reflection since it was so damn good looking. He'd done a few laps around the pool built into his room; not a giant thing by any means, modest for a true rockstar but enough for a shark boy to swim around in. Certainly his charm with the dorm designer had helped. After that it was breakfast, a few hunks of meat and he was back out the door. Skipping his first class of course because it was math and he was a rock star and rock stars didn't need math. Thankfully he'd had music class in the morning, which he excelled at and wooed everyone.
And now for crossing paths with a particularly angry professor, he was on pumpkin carving duty with the village idiot. It was a tiny stroke of bad luck, and now his whole schedule of loafing off and being pretty was totally thrown off track.
"Ugh. Don't harsh my mellow," Strider said, moving away from the hulking beast. Pumpkin decorating was already boring enough (seriously, this was a duty for scarelings at best. Everyone knew how to carve a jacking pumpkin in Halloween), but now he had to do it with a guy who was probably going to eat the final result.

Wrex, for his part, had been happily napping for most of the afternoon. Classes had been interesting--certainly nothing like the rough and tumble world he had grown up in, if a little too stiff for his tastes all the same--but it made his head hurt. Or his body. Sometimes both. The reading portions were what really gave him a hard time: writing was vaguely possible, no doubt do to his almost stereotypically painful monstrous visage, but actually reading crap was hard on his eyes.
Unfortunately, it didn't quite excuse napping away instead of hitting one of those head-hurting lectures. A gnome had scurried in to tell him he was now served with the punishment of...wait, what? Pumpkin duty??
A rather confused boil showed up, long tail twitching and nostrils flared. Wrex knew very little about the scareling process, but he knew pumpkins had something to do with them. Were they scareling sitting?? Gross.
Oh. Wait. Decorating.
He stuck his tongue out at Strider as he sniffed out his own pumpkin. "Do what I want," he grumbled loudly as he eyed their resources, wondering if icing was on the menu.

Well, at least the shrieks and distressed accusations made him feel better. Wrex bared his teeth some more, which probably didn't help the situation; but hey, Strider was the second person at Amity to accuse him of either killing or being able to kill someone, and that was personally a good amount of praise to be had. He was far too used to being called weak to want to correct the guy.
The staff member, whose brows had long since been raised at the both of them for different reasons, made a shooing motion at Strider. "Just hurry it up so we can all leave, for Jack's sake."
Wrex stuck his tongue out for the second time.
"And if you don't stop doing that, I'll make you come back every day for the next two weeks!"
The tongue disappeared, though he growled softly to make up for it. Couldn't lose face and all that. Maybe he could chuck--right, probably not a good idea. Sigh.
"Whiney," he observed as he handled some glue and plastered piece of colorful paper on his pumpkin, for no real reason other than because of their colors. "Weaaaaaak."
