[1v1] The Will To Fight On (Davyne/Kamakura)

Kamakura had come back to Halloween not long after being returned from the vine entangled tower. He’d been told he was carried out by someone before they vanished inside. The memories of the creeping haze-like fog still haunted him, as did the plant horrors and violent shadowlings.

He'd been inexperienced in the combat situation; the demon hadn’t felt confident in the slightest. If anything it had inspired the nekomata to improve on his fighting skills. It wasn't enough to be stuck behind a book at all times, if he didn't refine his fires, or even just his physical prowess…where in Jack's name would he be now if there hadn't been someone looking out for him?

It was disturbing to think he'd failed somehow. Kamakura wanted to be better than that. Truthfully, he couldn't help but wonder if he'd just been stronger if he could have protected his human better, and namely himself. As he pushed his way past the doors leading into the gym, he shoved these helpless thoughts and feelings behind him for now. Most of the details and memories surrounding the event were still hazy, and for now best left alone.

His feline iris scanned the room, reluctant to just approach the first boil or ghoul he made eye contact with. Scowling, the demon went to put his bag down in the locker room, before returning to the main gym area.

The catboil almost missed the reaper, although she certainly seemed to be scanning those who came in and out of the gym he noted. Curious, he gave her a pointed look, narrowing his eyes slightly at the other. He wasn't sure what exactly to ask, and for a moment stood rooted in place.

"Hey." Kama blurted finally, rubbing the back of his neck. "Would...you be up for a sparring match or something?" After the hell he'd been through, something like this perhaps would be a great way to channel his frustrations.

Davyne had evenly stared back at the boil during his stare-down, not the least bit perturbed.

When he finally spoke, she brightened slightly at the words, "yes, that would most agreeable!" Truth be told she had been on the lookout for a sparring partner herself, so to have one present himself quite of his own accord was rather great.

"Do you have any particular wishes for the rules and who would you prefer to start?"

Kamakura's ears perked up as she spoke. The catboil gave her a curious look as she readily agreed with him without missing a beat. Placing a hand on his hip, the demon looked thoughtful at her inquiry.

"No restrictions, or wishes otherwise. Just keep it clean, and no face shots. I've never done a sparring match before..so let's just see how it goes." Kama answered truthfully with a small smirk pulling at his lips.

"I use fire, hopefully that won't be an issue?" She seemed assured in herself, he had a feeling she wasn't about to go down easily. Raising his gloved hands, a flickering of flames starting as he stood at the ready. "You may start, if you wish." He offered with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

She nodded, readily agreeing with the terms - they were nothing out of the ordinary, after all.

In response to his question of whether or not she was alright with him using fire, she raised a hand, palm upwards, and let her signature blue fire manifest on the glove. That should be answer enough.

"Very well," another nod and then the blue fire was gone and she had summoned her whip, quickly lashing out at him.

Kamakura watched as the blue fire crackled with life around her glove. He most certainly understood, and gave a nod of his head.

There was absolutely nothing to worry about. So be it then.

The red and yellow flames roared with new life, Kama threw it like one might a ball. However, the quick appearance of the whip and it's quick swipe was just enough to make it harder to aim, but he'd manage.

She'd been in the of maneuvering for another attack when the flames hit her and what should have been a well-aimed strike at her opponent instead turned into her whip cracking uselessly at the air.

The crack of the whip in the air made his eyes go wide, shifting his weight he willed another flame orb to manifest.

With a gesture of his hand, the orb appeared beside her, swooping in for an attack before vanishing upon making contact.

The orb caught her off guard but she didn't wince at the attack, instead keeping her focus on the fight and choosing to counter-attack. She lashed out with her whip, aiming for his midsection as best she could - she was still getting used to this whole fighting thing.

Hissing from the sharp sting he felt in his mid section, he only made a few noises of discomfort. Shrugging off the weapons bite, the demon felt like he was getting the hang of this at least in part. Kama took the opportunity to counter with another quick volley.

He was still new at this, but for now he was keeping pace with her.

Deciding that the time was ripe for using her Fear attack, Davyne summoned cyan flames to coat her whip before attacking him once again.

In response to her Fear assault, Kamakura reached for the powers of his own Fear. The flames began to flicker and dance, unlike before when they seemed to have a purpose. An eerie smile crossed the demons face as he willed the burning flames closer, in attempts to apply their heat to his sparring partner.

"Hm, you're fortune favors you..this time." He replied ominously as the strange dancing orbs flickered. Despite it's heat, there was a chilling, almost living quality to the three orbs before they blew out like one would a candle in the wind. Directing the lingering burn was harder than just a regular fireball, and he showed his annoyance when they failed to produce results.

She slid into her best defensive stance, but couldn't help watching the dancing orbs with more interest than trepidation - truly, it was fascinating to watch other creeple's magic at work.

And then she waited. And waited a bit longer, before finally the orbs flickered out of existence and still, to the best of her knowledge nothing had happened besides the light show. Perhaps it gave him a fighting buff in some way? She had thought it an offensive attack, but a buff was not unthinkable.

"Indeed," she said, still not entirely clear on what had happened. Whatever it was however, there was no reason waste further time - dancing closer to her opponent, she lashed out with her whip two times in quick succession. She was still getting the hang of this 'moving and attacking at the same time'-business, though.

At least the attack had actually connected this time, some small progress.

Kamakura gave her a weird look, knowing well enough he'd messed up that attempt. Come next year, he'd go for something a little more like wildfire, he just didn't have the control over his magics outside extreme concentration and battle. Shapeshifting had been his main priority.

The whip struck him, and this time instead of his fire magic he reached out to claw at her in response saving his reserves for the entirety of their combat.

She hissed, clutching at the spot where he'd clawed her before remembering herself and striking with her whip once again.

Or trying to. The attack was about a meter off the mark though.

Her hiss startled him just enough when he went to take another swipe at her, it fell short of connecting.

Alright, so they weren't' the best at fight, no matter at least they were just practicing after all. He cracked a small smile as he eye'd the reapers weapon of choice. "Seems handy to have a weapon, but it's a bit particular." Kama added with a small shrug. "My fires are the same way right now.." He admitted with a grumble to his tone.
