She did not belong in here.
She had done an okay job of looking the part, Serafina thought, with a star-patterned athletic tank top, white surgical mask and a tennis skirt to match, but even as her fashion looked on point, she felt like she was floundering a little and she wasn't even fighting yet.
Sure, it was a requirement to graduate, and she wanted to do that eventually, but...
Serafina levitated off the ground a tad, glancing around over obstacles to see if anyone was entering the gym. Maybe someone would approach her. Or not. That was fine too. It wasn't like she really wanted to beat people up. Or get beaten up.
(That one was more likely, considering her track record wasn't the most favourable. She had managed to defeat an adorable first year? That wasn't exactly hard though...)

Serafina wasn't the only ghost with thoughts in mind of hitting the gym, though Seuji was probably a little more enthusiastic about it. He'd been a member of the fitness club for years, started his day early with a long run, boxed in his spar time. Athleticism wasn't usually something a ghost had to worry much about, but Seiji wasn't your average ghost. He couldn't float, and passing through walls were out if the questuon. The boil was considerably more substatial than his spectral brethren, but than that was just how hungry ghosts operated.
He was also dressed for a work out, blood red tank top and black shorts. Dark hair was pulled back into a messy bun at the back of his head, and he'd taken out the snake bite piercings, cause those smarted a bit when you got popped in the lip.
The gym was a fair bit emptier than he'd hoped, but there was at least one student hanging around. Seiji smiled as he headed in her direction, lashing sharp teeth as he offered a wave in greeting. "Hey, you looking for an opponent, maybe?"
There was an easy confidence to him, a friendlyness meant to soften what height and athletic build presented.

Great, he was eager. She was most definitely going to be beaten into the ground. For a moment, she chanced a glance at that ground.
Gym floors didn't seem comfortable.
Her eyes darted back up to Seiji, noting once again that he had quite the teeth. And quite the smile. Why was he so happy? Did he like sparring this much? Don't show fear, Serafina!
"Serafina Arai, third year too," she offered, before attempting a punch. It turned out Serafina didn't quite realize her own strength and actually swung for a decent hit. Instinctively, she opened her mouth to say sorry but quickly shut it.
This is a spar Serafina, hitting creeple is expected...

It wasn't so much that he enjoyed sparring, though he did. It was that his graduation was right around the corner, and after that came getting a house, his wedding to Junko, and starting a family. He had good reasons to be eager! It was time to say goodbye to Amity, and hello to the rest of his life.
"It's nice to meet you, Serafina." Even if she packed a hell of a punch. That dainty gist connected, knocking Seiji back a step, and he gave her surprised look before chuckling and smiling. "Damn ghoul." Maybe he shouldn't have been so chivalrous!
Rubbing the spot she'd hit, he gave her a gauging sort of look, vaguely challenging. "Let's see you do that again."

Jack he looked surprised. She was a little surprised herself. That wouldn't happen again.
Honestly, she felt bad about it, and winced a bit when he rubbed at his arm. Oops. Maybe she should watch her flailing. This was a spar. No point in bruising him or anything.
"Nice to meet you too Seiji, and thanks," she murmured, sounding more sheepish more than anything else. She shook her head out of it, held up her fists, and tried for another swing.
A little more to her expectations, the second swing was a glancing blow at best.

At the slow swing, Serafina ducked down a bit to avoid it, and seemed more surprised than anything that such a move had actually worked.
Was he being slow on purpose? There was no way Serafina could actually be this good at this, right? She certainly hadn't been in the past and she didn't really enjoy sparring either.
For graduation, though, she repositioned herself and tried to swing at Seiji again. Tried was perhaps being too polite, though, as she definitely swung at him, and immediately winced.
"Sorry!" She couldn't stop the apology this time.

He wasn't exactly taking it easy on her. He was mostly just not going all out on her. Winning didn't matter as much to him, he would rather have fun with it. This was fun, and if it helped her get a little confidence, maybe it'd make her a little more comfortable with spars in the future.
He made a move, trying to duck away from the incoming punch, but she got him in the arm anyways, bony little knuckles digging in. it actually stung a little, but nothing serious. He gave a soft grunt, turning the arm away from her as he made a swipe at her arm in turn, knuckles barely brushing her.
"So how long have you been at the school, Serafina?"

She had hurt him! Serafina felt bad. This was a spar and she was supposed to be doing these things but it never quite sat properly...
Ugh.
Serafina shook her arm out where it was (barely) swiped at, shifting herself once again in an attempt to gain some kind of respectable battle form. Of course, she supposed it didn't matter. It was probably obvious she was nervous by now, considering she had apologized.
Wait, that was a good question. How long had she been at Amityville. "Ah, a while now." She paused. "A bit over three years, actually."
Considering she was a third year, she was actually making better graduation time then she thought...
When she swung again, she tried to be a bit lighter. She failed.

He was a hardy ghost, it was going to take a little more than that to actually hurt him. Hopefully the return of that easy smile would help to put her worries at ease. her wicked little punches smarted a bit, but he wasn't worried about them. Any bruises would heal later.
Besides, he'd sighed up for this when he asked if she wanted to spar.
That didn't mean he was going to just sit still and let her beat on him, not if she was going to continue to hammer on him. It was time to even things up a bit.
With a quick step to the left, the ghost boil came at her with a quick jab to the right, followed by another on the opposite side. Not terribly hard on their own, but back to back, there was a little bite to the attack.

Serafina attempted to defend herself from the oncoming onslaught, but she wasn't very good at it, placing her arms in front of her chest as opposed to where he was going to hit. At the first hit, she flailed a bit, giving the second a chance to hit her.
Okay, get it together Serafina. This was what she was expecting when she came in here anyway, right? Seiji looked like he was that good.
Once she managed to get herself back to her carefully crafted fighting stance, she swallowed and attempted another hit. A little more uneasy this time, her swing did not contain nearly the same bite as it had before.
