heedless of the wind and weather
It was the rainy season in the Amazon; whereas the upper half of the world suffered from the cold, it was a humid and comfortably warm atmosphere for most of South America. Water ran aplenty through the middle of their new home thanks to a well cut hole throughout the center, both forming a beautiful waterfall and providing them with a water source. They had chosen this particular tree because of its immense size and relative seclusion in an already dense rainforest, but what Shik liked most about it aside from its many available utilities was the smell. Nuts in particular, when roasted, gave off a delicious scent, and the very wood itself had an aroma that finally sated what he had ignored for years: his homesickness.
In the midst of investigating where best to leave their trophies, as what War horseman could live without a room to enshrine their conquests, he had insisted Shaheen go out hunting as they had been working for most of the day. While she was out, he quickly moved about and added the decorations he had been keeping in secret: skulls both human and hunter were spiked and fingerpainted with each individual's blood in both the Clans' spirals and in other familiar designs; furs were gathered from a hunt in Russia, used as a welcome rug as well as a testament to his favorite sort of game (bears) and in her honor (lions); the weapons rack had been polished to a healthy gleam, where even the bamboo shined as metal; and a healthy fire had been stoked where they had decided to place their kitchen, ready for the meal.
He waited as he busied himself and washed his hands periodically in the waterfall.

heedless of the wind and weather
Hunting in the rain was a miserable thing, and not for the first time, Shaheen found herself cursing Shikoba's name beneath her breath. While he was likely warm and cozy back within the lair, she was busy stalking prey, which normally would have been quite enjoyable if her wings had not been soaked to the bone.
Nobody liked to have soggy feathers, Shaheen least of all.
Of course, she had no idea of what her darling partner was busying himself with back in their new home. She only assumed he was having a nap. It was, after all, considered winter in other regions of the world. Surely the big bear would require his beauty sleep.
But she knew better, of course. When had she ever seen Shikoba fully at ease, peace, and restful? Still, when she returned to the lair proper, a six foot long and incredibly heavy jaguar draped across her shoulders, she was in a mood. Because she was wet. And Shaheen really, really despised being wet.
"SHIKOBA!" She hollered up at the massive tree at the center of their home. "I HAVE RETURNED!" But she couldn't fly. Not with this great beast in her arms, at least. "Get your a** down here." She grumbled, to herself of course since he was far too high up to hear her.

let it bleed, let it bleed, let it bleed
"How very fortunate for us." She practically purred in response, golden eyes fixated on the young, pale human who was currently imprisoned. "Stupid of him, of course, but fortunate for us." A manic grin spread across her face, her gaze lighting up as she tore her eyes away from their new toy and back towards Shikoba.
After the one she had let live, his offer of roasted hunter for dinner sounded rather delightful.
"Ah yes, them." Her eyes flickered to the side as his did, her wings twitching with a certain gleeful excitement. "Decisions, decisions."
Something in her gaze flickered then, darkening for a moment, and she licked her lips before she glanced back at him. "I should tell you, though, that his will not have been the first hunter blood spilled on this ground."

heedless of the wind and weather
A moment. A moment was too long, and he knew it. Still, she shifted the weight of the kill on her shoulders as she waited, a sour look on her face for when he arrived to help her out.
And damn him for being thoughtful.
She accepted the towel and warm pelts as she made her way inside, shifting the carcass again and practically throwing it's weight onto him instead, while letting out a small grunt in reply and turning to gesture at claw marks, already healing, on her side, overlapping the scars that Shik himself had given her, once upon a time, and then up towards the bite marks between her collarbone and shoulder, which were deeper, shredded, and healing slightly slower.
"Only to start with." She finally spoke, using the towel to dry herself with before wrapping the oh so toasty warm furs around herself. "He was, of course, no match for me." Especially not when she had turned into her lioness form to finish him off, which would be obvious from the way his jugular had been torn open, and the way her teeth were still stained with the creatures blood as she spoke.
