Canon to every incarnation of the Digital World, File Mountain is the largest mountain range who's reach dominated most of the continent. Though Rocky, it is not completely perilous to travel as it displays high levels of digital trafficing that have more or less beaten out roads for traveling. What truly seperates this File Mountain from its other variations is its amazing range that practically touches each of the zones (minus zones 8 & 9) with its stoney embrace.

Locations within this area
-File Mountain
-File Peak [Quest-only]
-Mountain Olympus [Quest-only]
-GUI Gorge
-Hidden File Ridge [Temporary]

_Hazards_
-Strong gusts of wind, every other post roll 1 D10 if you roll a 3 or lower you are blown off the side of the Mountain!-

((OOC::Enter from New Network City))

Exiting the large gate Liam could see the glorious mountain's stretched before him like the termite mounts of giants. In the distance the snow glistened off the peaks like dew on a leaf in morning and even the clouds could not stop the penetration of the stone hard caps. Overall just one of his favorite sights, but first they had to cross this innocent looking field. Toucs explained that they would be traveling along the ridge of the mountains until the reached the village where his friend had been living the last few years, "The journey is a long a possibly traitorous one. I've also heard reports lately of Digimon attacking Humans so watch you step and we will do our best to protect you. Is everyone ready?" Liam and Faux nodded and the trio took off at a sprint. The faster they moved through this area the better, just because it look like there is no danger does not mean that it is so.

Fortunately they reached the base of the Mountain with no delays. Then they began the journey to the top, slow and daunting. A single missed footing could send them back down the path. The path grew steeper and it became clear that the best way up would be to do some rock climbing. Biyomon flew on a head to make sure the coast was clear as Gabumon and Liam began their unassisted climb. Hand over hand and foot over foot. Grabbing at whatever little rock of ledge seemed to be the most stable. Liam knew he would be fine but he was impressed about how well Gabumon was doing with his short arms and legs, he looked almost like a spider climbing that rock face. Biyomon yelled down from up top, "It's all clear up here, hurry up you guys.." Liam looked up, they had probably made it half way. This wasn't so bad, Liam had done way worse back in the Human world. Now it was just a matter of concentrating and finishing the assent.

Just a few more stretches to go, as the two were about the reach the top Liam realized that Faux had quit shouting down encouragement. The pit of his stomach fell as he reached the top and saw the reason for her silence. Liam and Toucs pulled themselves up to face a big ugly green troll creature. In one hand he held a massive club and in the other an unconscious Biyomon. He must have snuck up behind her and knocked her out. The creature was laughing ,"Oooh looks like I got myself an entree to go with my taste snack here. Always wanted to know what Humans taste like. Guess it's time to find out!" Liam ran at the monster yelling at him, "Give my friend back right now you big oaf, you can't eat either of us for dinner!" The monster swung his mighty club intended to flatten the tamer, Liam braced for impact. A thud echoed across the range but it wasn't from Liam being struck down. Realizing he was ok Liam opened his eyes to see Gabumon firmly holding the business end of the club protecting Liam form the impact.

"Toucs! You stopped him? Liam's mouth must have been open in disbelief because Gabumon rolled his eyes before speaking, "Liam I'm gonna need you help if we are gonna save Faux...this is Ogermon and he's not playing around....first pull out your digivice, select my name and push the button on the side again....then stand back and give me some room to move!" Liam figuring what did he have to lose went for it. Pulling out the green device he picked Toucs name from the list and hit the button on the side. A stream of light erupted from the device and wrapped itself around Gabumon. "Gabumon Spiiiriiit Digivolutiiiooon" The light began to bend and warp as a statue appeared from the Digivice and what looked almost like armor began to attach to Toucs. "Gabumon spirit evolve to Lobomon!" Suddenly Toucs looked like a whole new Digimon, more humanoid than wolf now but still will a few strips on his fur. It was just like when Theo's Digimon had Digivolved back in the gym. This was exciting, Liam couldn't wait to see what he could do now.

Lobomon pushed the club back toward Ogermon with ease making the big green digimon slide back and trip on the ground falling to his butt. Toucs jumped back and from two holsters on his left side he grabbed two handles which turned out to be duel lightsabers like from Star Wars. This was so freaking cool Liam was geeking out a bit and just knew that this battle was going to be over soon. "Alright, get him Lobomon, this joker doesn't stand a chance...also you owe me an explanation after this! Toucs gave a half cheeked grin and dashed toward the still seated Ogermon

Ogermon quickly recovered from the surprise of being overpowered, still clutching Biyomon in his meaty fist as he rose to his feet. "ugh...you think you're hot stuff huh?...." Toucs closed in the distance ready to strike with both blades from the monster's left side. Thinking fast the Beast brought up his club to intercept the blow. "You'll have to be faster than that ugly" As the blades hit the wood the wolf threw a knee into the big oaf's side. causing him to wince in pain from the unexpected attack.

Lobomon jumped back to perform another attack, this time making it look like he was going for the injured rib. When the Ogermon went to defend the attack Toucs changed direction and brought the hilts of the two blades down hard on the green arm that was still clutching Biyomon. Between the 2 attacks his grip was loosened enough to drop the unconscious pink bird. Lobomon seeing that she was free knew he no longed needed to hold back. He sent both blades on an arc toward his chest. Slow in reacting because of is injured and possibly broke rib Ogermon was sent flying into a nearby mountain face. "I think I've had just about enough of your smug mug attacking my friends...let's end this..." The Ogermon was trembling still in shock and pain from the last few minutes. Lobomon crossed both of his light blades across eachother allowing them to spark. Reaching the midway point the began to glow brightly, "This is it for you bud...Lobo Kendo!!!" With a quick slash from the blades the ball of light that had formed shot off the end of the blades and exploded into the screaming Ogermon. Data began to flow from the mountain face and Ogermon disappeared no longer able to hurt the group.

Liam ran over to where Biyomon was knocked out on the ground. "Faux...Faux! Are you ok? Faux wake up!" The tamer bend down and curled the Digimon up in his arms. Biyomon began to cough and opened her eyes, "Look out....there's and Oger...mon." Liam laughed glad she was ok but it scared him that once again he failed his friend. If it wasn't for Tuocs this battle would have gone the other way.

Lobomon sheathed both of his blades and turned to walk back to where Biyomon still lay on the ground slowly recovering from a good knock on the head. "How ya doing kid? Data began to flow as Lobomon turned back into Gabumon, "He knocked you out pretty good." Biyomon looked up at the two who defended her and struggled to get back to her feet. "I'm doing fine...my head's ringing a bit but other than that...it's a good thing ya'll made it to the top in time." She thought about what could have happened if they had been any later, although after the crunch she had felt from being knocked out there was a good chance she may have never even known that she was being eaten.

A cool wind wiped through as the group sat in silence. Liam was starting to realize how dangerous this place, that was twice now that he had felt helpless to help his friend and on top of that he very easily could have been hurt during the battle. He was starting to realize that he needed to get stronger, him and his Digimon. It was time for Tuocs to tell him about what he saw back there. "Ok so....what was that?...was that Digivolution? Or something else? I've seen one before but this one looked a little different." Gabumon thought for a second and then nodded and answered, "That was called Spirit Evolution, it's similar to Digivolution but rather than just using your own strength as a Digimon and in your case a Tamer and a Digimon, you use an ancient power. There are ten ancient powers; Light which is what I used, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Flame, Darkness, Water, Earth, Steel and Wood." He paused to see if the others were following him before he continued. It was getting dark and they really needed to set up camp and start a fire. "The spirit you saw was called Lobomon and I use his strength to Digivolve, it combines my strength and his and makes us a powerful force. Each of the spirits have a stone that contains their power. I found that one long ago and have been carrying ti around in my cloak ever since. There are others but I am not aware of where they are or who's power they contain. The only other thing I know about them is that their power comes from a group of Digimon called the Ancients. In the old world these Digimon were tasked with bringing balance to the Digital world, they governed it and made sure that it was in harmony. They have not been seen even in the old World for a very long time, no one seems to remember why they left and it's believed that only these stones remain of their power....I have faith though that the Ancients will return when they are needed."

As Tuocs finished his tale Biyomon began to shiver. Taking notice Liam took off his jacket and placed it around the bird. He wanted to talk about it some more, he had so many questions and he was intrigued by the fact that this world had been around for a long time. That meant that he had not helped create it by making the portal. He wasn't sure what the implications there where but he knew that he was not in a game. "Biyomon, call out to us if anything seems out of place. Tuocs let's get some fire wood and make camp, it's getting pretty late. The duo began to find some sticks and kindling building a pile until they had enough to build a decent fire. Liam pulled a lighter out of his backpack and lit the grass and small twigs that they had arranged inside the larger sticks and before long a nice warm fire had come to life. They had to be careful with the wind to keep the fire going.

As Faux began to warm up Liam began to ask the questions he had formulated, "Ok so there are other ways to Digivolve besides just Tamer-Digimon relationships and power then. That's interesting, so have you met any others who can spirit evolve? Or do you have any idea of where to look for some other stones? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I guess I'm just trying to figure out this place and how it all works." Tuocs shook his head, he had told Liam all he knew about the subject. Liam knew it was going to be another hard day tomorrow and the trio decided to call it a night. The two Digimon digitzed back into the digivice and Liam closed his eyes drifting into a lulling slumber.

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Start!~

There was an audible grunt as a human hand latched onto a ledge, not even a quarter of the way up the File Mountain range. With a concerted effort a Tamer pulled himself up and onto the ledge, clearly out of breath.
"C'mon folks... We'll ease up here for a while."
Reaching back down Kazu helped pull up his three traveling companions, Veemon, Agumon and Gabumon. Each Child Digimon scrabbled onto the ledge and lay down panting, the climb was proving harder for them and their stubby limbs, Kazu rubbed the back of his head and sighed. It was now day four of their excursion and it was already proving hazardous.
"Buraimon wasn't kidding huh? This is gonna be tough."

Four days prior to their mountain adventure, Kazu and his friends had been lazing around the Hostel, not really up to anything in particular, when the Manager, a stern Leomon, had burst in brandishing a fistful of paper. Slamming it down in front of Kazu he began ranting and raving about how he had found a clue for the Tamer, it had taken a good five minutes for Kazu to calm the owner down and make him speak clearly. He could remember his words clearly.
"Kazu! One of my old friends is an archeologist who specialises in ancient Digital Artifacts. I mentioned how you helped me out with the Shoutmon situation and he got curious. I described you to him and he got all excited and flustered, he gave me these! Look!"
Kazu could remember the Lion straightening out the papers and slamming a finger into a grainy photo. It was a picture of some kind of shrine and resting in the center a weird, yellow-ish box looking thing. But that was not what drew Kazu's attention; very faintly, surrounding the box-thing, was a silhouette of a human. A very familiar Human. The Manager had roared with laughter at Kazu's reaction before slapping him on the back.
"He thinks it looks like YOU boy! Can you imagine? He want's to meet up with you and discuss things further!"

Kazu unscrewed the top of his water flask and took a swig. Leomon had introduced them both all right and the discoveries they had made together had helped Kazu make some sense of the new Digital World. The Archeologist friend, an aged Jijimon, had explained that the box thing was what was called a Digi-Mental, a super-rare item that no-one in the current Digital World had seen. The photographs came from the Archeologist's friend who had sent the photographs to Jijimon moments before vanishing. That had been a week before Kazu had started this climb. He swallowed the cold water and wiped his brow, looking out over the vast plains of the Digital World below.

At the request of Jijimon he had packed up supplies and headed off to the mountain with Veemon, Agumon and Gabumon to try and discover what had happened to Jijimon's friend and to retrieve the DigiMental. Buraimon had tried to insist upon coming but Kazu had told him to stay back and relax. But that wasn't Kazu's only reason for asking Buraimon to remain at home, the samurai was an Adult level Digimon and the only one Kazu had access to at present, back before the Reset Kazu had been able to focus his power into his Digimon and allow them to Evolve into their Adult forms and beyond, but ever since his return he had been unable to accomplish that feat. He figured that if he and his three Child Digimon were together on an adventure then it might re-awaken their ability to Evolve.

Kazu stared vacantly out over the ever-reaching land below, something began tugging at his sleeve, he looked down to see some claws attached to an orange arm plucking at his jacket.
"What's up Agumon?"
The dinosaur Digimon raised a claw to his mouth and pointed above them. Kazu, understanding now to keep quiet, followed Agumon's claw up the rocky mountainside. On the ridge just above them walked a towering monster seemingly made out of the same rock as the mountain. Metal pins and bandages seemed to hold it's limbs together while a metal helmet covered its face. Kazu slowly moved towards the side of the mountain in order to stay hidden from the monster. He reached to his belt and pulled up his D3 Digivice and quickly cycled to the Digimon-Reader function.

"Golemon ~ Adult Level Rock Digimon. He is a simple-minded Digimon made almost entirely out of stone."

Kazu clipped the device back to his belt and looked across to his other partners. Both Veemon and Gabumon had their backs to the wall of the mountain while Agumon was huddled in a crouch near Kazu's feet. Silently his mind began to race, it was a wild Digimon and had no reason to attack them, yet if the Digimon-Reader was right and he was fairly simple it would be no small stretch to assume he might want to protect his territory.

As Kazu's mind continued to race a strong gust of wind blew across the mountainside, dislodging a number of loose rocks. Kazu heard the clacking of stone on stone and threw his arms up over his head just in time to block a few tennis-ball sized stones from hitting him on the head, Veemon was not so lucky as a piece of rock landed squarely on the top of his head.
"OWCH! OW--- Hmmf!?"
Veemon's cries of pain were muffled by Gabumon's hand clamping over his mouth. A few seconds of silence passed as the group realised what might now happen. Kazu peered above him, only to be met with the empty gaze of Golemon. The Tamer gave the rock monster a forced smile and waved slightly, both actions of which the living boulder did not seem to care for.
"Get...Off...M-My...MOUNTAIIIIIIN!!!"

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

Golemon's roar sent shivers down Kazu's spine. The beast's scream halted and the Golemon's eyes locked onto Kazu's, the rock golem launched itself surprisingly high into the air and began to hurtle towards the climbing group. After a few dumbfounded seconds, Kazu finally got his head back in the game. He snapped his head from side to side, his eyes finally landed on an outstretched ledge off to the group's left.
"There!"
All three of his Digimon followed Kazu's stare and immediately understood his intent. In a flash the three ran and leapt off of the ledge on which they had been standing and crashed down on the outcrop below. Kazu was soon after them, launching himself off of the rocky platform just as Golemon slammed down on the spot where he was standing not five seconds prior. Kazu threw himself into a shoddy combat roll as he landed, spinning out and ending up face-down and covered in dirt. He raised his head, looking out at where he was a few moments ago. The Golemon roared loudly once again and smashed his hand into the side of the mountain and clamped his hand around a huge section of rock. Kazu understood immediately what was coming and quickly pushed himself back to his feet,
"Agumon! Gabumon! Fire!"
Golemon tore the section of rock off of the cliff-face and screamed as he hurled it across the gap and towards the group, reacting to their Tamer's shout Agumon and Gabumon jumped in front of Kazu
"Pepper Breath!"
"Blue Blaster!"
The two flame attacks crashed into the oncoming boulder and exploded upon impact. Kazu and company were showered with rock fragments that clattered around them, thinking quickly Kazu scanned the rock-face to the group's right. Up above them seemed to be a plateau of sorts where the Golemon had come from, a number of smaller ledges and outcroppings led the way.
"You two! Climb!"

Agumon and Gabumon spared no time in following Kazu's command, hurling themselves at the mountain and stabbing their claws into the rock, scrabbling up as quickly as they could.
"So what about us..."
Veemon spoke what Kazu was thinking, he took a deep breath and glared at the Golemon opposite, who was coming back into view after the dust from the boulder began to dissipate.
"We're gonna have to fight him head on."
Veemon looked at his Tamer quizzically for a moment before shrugging and getting into a battle ready stance.
"I've never doubted you before, I'm not going to doubt you now!"
The pair extended their fists and touched them briefly before being interrupted by the monstrosity across from them.
"Get... Off... My... MOUNTAIIIIIIIN!!!"
The Digimon truly was simple, he was enraged that his attack had failed, furious that the trespassers were still crawling over his land and livid that they seemed to think that they could win. With a piecing howl Golemon launched itself into the air, poised to stamp down on Kazu and Veemon's ledge.
"Now!"
Veemon nodded and took two steps backwards before sprinting at full force towards the edge. With a kick, Veemon propelled himself into the air towards the oncoming Adult Digimon.
"V-Headbutt!"
The pair of Digimon rocketed towards one another, but Golemon had no time to waste on the puny dragon Digimon. With a deft sweep of his left arm he hammered Veemon to one side, firing him like a blue bolt into the mountain-side.
"Veemon!?"
A soft groan gently filtered out from the new crater that had been beaten into the side of the mountain. Kazu's sight flickered from the dusty hole Veemon had created and back to the rock golem. Golemon's legs slammed down on either side of Kazu, shaking and cracking the ledge beneath them so much that he fell onto his backside. The Tamer looked up at the heaving monster above him, it's breath was long and ragged, every exhalation sending a hot stream of air over Kazu's head, it's eyes showed nothing but primal rage at Kazu's very presence.

"Blue Cyclone!"
"Triple Baby Flame!"
A storm of fiery attacks rained from the plateau above Golemon and Kazu. Agumon and Gabumon had reached the area safely and were now peppering the monster looming over their Tamer with the strongest moves they could muster at range. Golemon roared and raised a hand above him to take the brunt of the Child Digimon's attacks. Kazu took advantage of the monster's distraction to claw himself some distance between himself and the Golemon.
"Heavy... Tackle!"
The beast lumbered towards the side of the mountain before slamming it's shoulder into the rock with as much force as a speeding truck. The shock-wave released from the impact fractured the cliff all the way up to Gabumon and Agumon's plateau, the pair wobbled for balance for a few seconds before a sheet of rock beneath them gave way and crumbled beneath them.
"Guys! Hang on!"
Kazu jumped at the side of the mountain and desperately began to climb towards his falling friends. The pair of Digimon began tumbling wildly, gaining speed and momentum before crashing in a heap atop one another on a small ledge. Kazu cried out, all his partners were down and he was stuck halfway up a cliff totally unprotected. A slow rumble beneath him sent a shiver all the way down his spine.
"Get... Off..."
Golemon had recovered from tackling the mountain and had re-focused his dead-gaze on Kazu. The Tamer scrambled for higher hand holds but in his panicked state he missed his grip and began to slide down the cliff, his fingers desperately grazed and scraped over rocks in hopes of finding a grip, they finally found purchase and Kazu came to a juddering halt. It wasn't until he felt the familiar hot breath on his back that he realised just how much trouble he was in. He glanced over his shoulder just in time to see Golemon winding back for a punch!
"Powerful... Punch!"
Kazu let go. He gave himself totally to gravity and plunged towards the rock ledge below. Golemon's fist whistled past his head as it obliterated the section of rock he had just been clinging to.

Kazu hit the ground hard, landing flat on his back and knocking all of the air from his lungs and blurring his vision. He rasped for breath as his sight began to slowly come back into focus, he could see the blue sky above, the peak of the mountain... And Golemon. The beast's fist was jammed into the side of the mountain, seemingly stuck after the mighty punch it had thrown. Kazu spluttered for air as his now weak limbs vied to get him moving again, but to no avail. Golemon's enraged howl deafened the Tamer, the monster's eyes locked to his own as it raised a foot ready to deliver the finishing blow... Kazu could hear the faint cries of his partners... They seemed to far away... Veemon's voice crept into his ears as Kazu's eyes shut, his attacker's foot poised to crush him...
"Veemon..."

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

"KAZU!!!"
Veemon's voice echoed off the mountainside, the woozy Tamer heard his closest friend's voice ring in his ears. He was still struggling to breathe, but he could see somewhat clearer now, his eyes moved from the huge foot hovering above him and across to a gaping hole in the mountain-side. Veemon was standing at the opening, his hand gripping the side of the crater he had caused by his impact. His breathing was heavy and one of his eyes was closed as he winced from the pain. Golemon slowly turned his rocky head towards the small Digimon, to the behemoth Veemon was no threat, so it turned it's attention back to the incapacitated Tamer below him. His craggy mouth jerked open once more, but before he could speak Kazu cut him off, his words ragged and forced as he tried to regain oxygen.
"Let... Me guess... Get off your mountain... Right?"
A wry smile crossed Kazu's lips as Golemon slammed his foot down...

~BGM: Brave Heart!~

A bright light erupted from Kazu's side. The light was warm and familiar, like an old friend welcoming Kazu in from a cold night, Veemon stared, his mouth agape as he realised what was about to happen. His skin began to glow and he could feel his energy being restored.
"This is... Evolution!?"
Golemon froze as the light stunned him, Kazu looked to the source and saw that it was coming from his D3. He moved his tired hand to grab the Digivice and held it towards Veemon!
"Let's do this partner!"
Veemon nodded and leaped from the crater, his whole body becoming wrapped in the warm white light.
"Veemon Shinka!"
Veemon's now total white form stretched and molded, growing bulkier and longer. A sharp horn protruded from his face and a pair of wings unfolded themselves gracefully from his back, the light intensified for a single, blinding second before the Digimon returned to his normal colours.
"Ex-Veemon!"

The humanoid-dragon Digimon's wings caught the air currents as he emerged from the evolution process. Golemon's eyes grew wide in awe as the new Digimon soared towards him, but he was not the only one staring, Kazu's mouth was wide as he watched his friend grow stronger and evolve. Up above, Agumon and Gabumon peered over the edge they were collapsed on and began to cheer as Ex-Veemon emerged.
"All right Veemon! You did it!"
"Show that boulder-brain who's boss!"
Ex-Veemon seemed far too focused to hear any of the chants from his friends, his eyes did not move from the rock Digimon standing over his partner. With a beat of his new found wings Ex-Veemon's speed increased, powering him towards his target at an incredible speed, he drew back his right arm and his claws began to glow with a golden light.
"Dramon Claw!"
His voice was deeper, more mature then that of Veemon's, and for good reason; as he threw his glowing fist forwards there was gigantic crunching noise as his attack landed squarely in the center of Golemon's forehead. The beast recoiled in pain, its fist becoming dislodged from the mountain-side and moving to hold his head. In his pain and confusion it staggered backwards, it's feet losing their grip as they came to the edge of the ledge. Unable to support the weight of the Goliath, the rock beneath him gave way and sent Golemon flying off the side of the mountain, the sound of rock on rock rang out a few times as the rock Digimon bounced his way down towards the base of the mountain.

Kazu finally regained his breath and hoisted himself into a sitting position, Ex-Veemon landed beside him with a thump.
"Kazu... I evolved!"
The Tamer nodded with a laugh. He placed one hand on his knee and with a grunt he got back onto his feet, he was covered in dust and dirt so he began to pat himself down, sending small clouds of dust into the air.
"Yeah... It looks like we managed to unlock it once again."
A big grin covered Kazu face as he admired Veemon's new form, it had been so long since Veemon had evolved. Ex-Veemon stretched out grinned back, holding out his fist, Kazu obliged with a light fist bump before turning his attention back to the cliff-face.
"How're you boys doing up there!?"
Agumon and Gabumon waved back to him to show that everything was a-ok, Kazu nodded to Ex-Veemon who in turn scooped his Tamer up and onto his shoulder, in a few deft wing-beats he had reached the other Digimon's perch and had grabbed each on in his arms, a few more flaps of his wings and they had reached the plateau that Agumon and Gabumon had spent all of half a minute on earlier.

~BGM: Time to Set up Camp!~

As everyone jumped down onto the plateau they gawked at how expansive it was. A huge flat area of rock that was as big as two football fields next to one another, Gabumon whistled, clearly impressed.
"Hey! Look over there!"
The group followed Agumon's claw and saw what he was excited about. On the far side of the rocky plain was a pool of water that was being fed into by a tiny waterfall poking out from between two gigantic rocks.
"Looks like we can camp here tonight."
Kazu and company nodded and made their way over to the pool. They sat around for a while, resting their weary bodies from the intense battle they had just been involved in, Kazu being in the worse state. He had to delve into his backpack and find some bandages for his cut and battered fingers. He pulled of his shirt asked how his torso and back looked.
"There's a nasty bruise where you landed on you back but aside from that and a few mild cuts and bruises you'll live."
Gabumon helped apply a rough bandage around the bruised area of Kazu's back. Kazu thanked him and pulled his clothes back on.
"Ok gang. Here's the plan. Me and Gabumon will go gather some firewood and bring it back here. Ex-Veemon and Agumon, you guys set up the tent, once it's all pegged up I'd like Agumon to dig out a fire-pit and start filling up our water bottles. While he does that, Ex-Veemon I'd like it if you could fly up and get a lay of the land. The temple we're looking for is apparently right in the heart of these mountains and at the end of a river. See what you can find out. Everyone know their jobs?"
All of Kazu's partners nodded and mumbled various affirmations. Kazu dropped his satchel onto the floor and help up his Digivice, in a flash a menu screen opened up and he was able to select the "Tent" option. A brief flash of light followed and the disassembled tent parts realised on the ground. With everything ready to go Kazu and Gabumon waved to Ex-Veemon and Agumon and set off towards an opening in the rock plain to search for firewood.

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

The silence across the mountain range was refreshing to say the least. Kazu and Gabumon had walked for a good 20 minutes before they had found suitable vegetation to collect firewood from, as they walked the sun had slowly arced it's way across the sky and cast a glorious orange glow throughout the range. Kazu didn't often admit it, but it was nice to be with one of his less talkative partners for a change, compared to Agumon and Veemon, Gabumon was a mute! He had his moments of excitement, but often he would prefer to sit alone with a book and bask in silence. The reptile in wolf's clothing had piled up a stack of wood and bound it with some vines that the pair had found dangling from a crack in one of the cliff-faces.

Kazu had gathered the last of his firewood and was busy wrapping the vines around it when Gabumon spoke up properly for the first time on their walk together.
"Hey Kazu... Are you glad to be back here?"
The question caught the Tamer off guard. He stopped tying up his sticks and turned to face his friend, a concerned eyebrow raised at him.
"Of course I am. I couldn't be more thankful to have this chance to see you all again. Why do you ask?"
Gabumon refused to make eye-contact, instead fiddling with his vines while he spoke.
"I mean... You were gone for so long. We all fought through the Reset and waited for you. But you didn't even remember us until a short time ago. What if you have a new life? What if you being here is an accident like it was the first time you arrived?"
Gabumon's voice began to sound more distressed as he began to voice his inner fears. Kazu stretched to his feet and walked over to his partner; crouching down he wrapped his arms around Gabumon's back and embraced his friend in a hug from behind.
"Gabumon... For whatever meaning, the first time I came to the Digital World, back when I was 16, was for a reason. It moulded me into the man I am today and it introduced me to all of my best friends."
Kazu took a deep breath, now was the difficult part of the story, the part he hated having to re-live.
"Yes I went away. That decision was not mine to make, it was forced upon me by a higher power within the Digital World. I woke up out of a coma with nothing but dream-like memories. But those tendrils of memory hung on for dear life and didn't let go! They surfaced when they could until finally I knew what I had to do. I had to make it back; to the Digital World, to Tamer Island, to you guys... My friends... That was my only choice."
Kazu could feel his eyes dampening as he pressed his face against Gabumon's soft fur. A minute or so of silence passed between the pair before Gabumon piqued up, his voice shaky as though he was fighting down tears.
"Idiot, you'll get my fur wet..."
Kazu leaned back and smiled, Gabumon turned around and wiped a paw across his eyes and returned a toothy grin.

"Oh Yggdrasil! I think I'm gonna barf!"
Kazu and Gabumon's heads snapped towards the nasally and mocking voice. Up above them on a jagged outcrop stood three figures, the setting sun glinting off the studs in their ears. Kazu reached for his Digivice and hit the Digimon-Reader button.

"Fugamon ~ An Adult Level Oni Digimon of the Ogremon species that wears clothing with a tiger stripe design. It lives and rushes wildly within its habitat."

Kazu ground his teeth together, another set of Adult level Digimon, but this time there were three of them and only himself and Gabumon to face off against them. Kazu took a nervous step backwards while Gabumon took a protective step forwards. The three Fugamon were cackling and jibing with one another, pointing and waving at the Tamer and his partner.
"Don't worry Kazu. I will protect you."
To that comment the Ogres silenced and fixed Gabumon with a vicious glare.
"Oh really you wannabe mutt?"
The center oaf jumped off of the outcrop and landed squarely on top of Kazu's bundle of firewood, splintering the wood and scattering the debris across the floor.
"And how're you gonna do that?!"

In a flash the Fugamon had crossed the gap between them and had pulled his club back in preparation to swing. In an instant, Gabumon had lashed out and pushed Kazu squarely in the chest, knocking the Tamer onto his backside, but just out of reach of the incoming bone-club. There was a sickening crack as Gabumon took the full brunt of the blow straight to the gut and was fired into a rock behind Kazu.
"Gabumon no!"
Kazu's expression changed from panic and fear to unadulterated rage. He got back to his feet and glared at the back of Fugamon's head, the ogre Digimon had turned around and was showing off to the other two who had perched on the outcrop above. Kazu wound back his fist, the red mist decending, he didn't care about the aftermath, all he cared about was hurting the one who had sucker-punched his friend. But from the corner of his eye a yellow-blue blur appeared, eyes just as full of anger as Kazu's.

~BGM: Brave Heart!~

A bright light shone from Kazu's Digivice once again as Gabumon's skin began to turn into a white light.
"Gabumon! Shinka!!"
The reptilian body began to elongate, hunching over and it's legs growing into a more quadrupedal form. The horn retracted and a mane of hair began to grow out around the scruff of the neck, the tail became fully connected to the body and spiraled out. As the totally white body flared one last time, the Fugamon turned back around, confused by the sudden shouting and light show. His eyes grew wide in fear as Gabumon's evolved form regained it's usual colours and emerged mid-pounce.
"Garurumon! Mega-Napalm!"
At point-blank range the wolf Digimon opened it's wide jaws and unleashed an explosive torrent of brilliant blue flames. The Fugamon had not time to react other then a meek scream as the flames engulfed the top-half of his body. The flame-torrent shot high into the sky before petering out and fading. As the flames died out the Fugamon's screams became the loudest sound to be heard, it looked on in horror as it's now charred right arm and the bone it had been holding turned to data. It staggered backwards and collapsed at the base of the outcrop where his friends stood, clasping the stump where his arm used to be.
"You... b*****d! I'll kill you! Get them!"

The other two Fugamon looked somewhat hesitant, looking at their screaming friend and then over to Kazu and Garurumon. However, Garurumon was panting heavily, looking out of breath and sweating. Kazu placed a hand on his friends flank,
"You gonna be ok against those two?"
Kazu knew why he was so worn out, the fight with Golemon earlier and the letting rip of so much power in his first properly evolved attack were taking their toll on Garurumon. It was amazing that he was even able to maintain his evolved state at all. Garurumon growled and took a shaky step forwards. Seeing Garurumon's weakened state the Fugamon were filled with a new confidence, bounding down to face the guys who had maimed their friend.
"Sorry Kazu... If I hadn't have missed the leader's head..."
Kazu put on his best game-face and grinned.
"No sweat buddy. We work best under pressure right?"
The wolf shut his eyes and smiled for a second before snapping them open again and launching himself at the assailants. The first Fugamon ducked and then jumped, digging his shoulder into Garurumon's underbelly, while the second swung it's club and knocked the wolf flying to the side. Garurumon slammed into the ground and shone brightly for a second before reverting back into his Gabumon form, face-down and dazed on the ground. Kazu had no time to cry out before the shoulder-barging ogre had crossed the gap and made a second swing for him...

~BGM: EVO!~

"Ex-Laser!"
A burst of energy exploded into the ground between Kazu and the attacking Fugamon, Kazu threw up his arms to shield his eyes from the ensuing dust cloud while the ogre Digimon was knocked onto his backside from the force of the blast.
"Kazu! We saw the blue fire! Are you guys ok!?"
Kazu looked up to see the cavalry arrive. Ex-Veemon was in the air above with Agumon perched on his shoulder. A familiar glow burst from Kazu's side, he grabbed his Digivice and pointed it towards the orange dinosaur Digimon.
"C'mon buddy!"
With a nod, Agumon threw himself from Ex-Veemon's shoulder, as he fell his skin turned white and he began to grow, larger and larger.
"Agumon! Shinka!!"
As the light intensified for the final second of his Evolution the Fugamon on the floor would gulp in fear.
"Greymon!"
The tyrano Digimon landed squarely on top of the ogre, crushing him into data immediately. Ex-Veemon flapped his wings as he descended and came to a landing next to his fallen friend Gabumon. Greymon roared, scaring the remaining Fugamon into turning tail and running back towards the one-armed ogre.
"No you idiot! Fight! Stop! Arrgh!"
Greymon and Ex-Veemon exchanged the briefest of looks before the orange dinosaur's mouth filled with flames and the humanoid-dragon's chest began to glow brightly.
"Ex-Laser!"
"Nova Blast!"
The two attacks melded together as they engulfed the two remaining Fugamon in an enormous explosion that lit up the entire mountainside turning the attackers into data almost immediately. As the light from the explosion faded Kazu sighed deeply in relief before running over to Gabumon...

~BGM: A Well Earned Rest Under the Stars~

Back at the group camp a few hours later, a cozy fire flickered and cracked, illuminating the dark plateau that Kazu and his friends now resided upon. The rock formations blocked out most of the wind, providing the camping friends an eerie calm. Ex-Veemon and Greymon had reverted to their Child forms in order to conserve energy and Gabumon had been bandaged up by Kazu. The four partners lay near the fire, staring up at the sky above, the light from the moon bathing them in a pale glow. Each star seemed to be a pin-p***k in the black cloth that was the night sky, glinting and dancing before them.
"Crazy day, huh?"
The group affirmed quietly. But despite the dangers and fears the day had presented them they had also grown, both in terms of their attitude towards the Digital World and in terms of their re-discovered evolutionary talent. The world was more harsh then they had even dreamed, but at the same time, if the events of the evening had taught them anything, it was that if they worked together, they could overcome anything...
"Good night guys... Sleep well..."
The group made their way inside the tent and zipped up the outside, they would need all the rest they could muster if they were to make it to the temple in one piece...

~Mission Continue!~

~BGM: Hiking With Friends!~

The sky was a bright blue as the group made their way across File Mountain's arcing peaks. It had been two days since their fight with Golemon and the Fugamon and a similar incident had not presented itself to them yet. While still in his Ex-Veemon form, the dragon Digimon had located a small river running through the mountains, deciding that it was their best lead Kazu and company decided to follow the waterway. The sun was high in the sky and the group were in high spirits as they traversed a narrow pathway.
"Man this place goes on forever!"
"I know what you mean, when you were flying how far did it stretch out?"
Agumon and Veemon busied themselves with idle conversation, Gabumon occasionally chimed in as the more sensible voice of reason,
"It doesn't matter. We have food and a whole river of water. Think of how good the exercise is for us."
Kazu chuckled, after his training alongside Buraimon he was quite done with exercise for some time, however their hike through the mountains was proving more enjoyable then he would have thought. The river was crystal clear, and small schools of fish could be seen darting around, the occasional tree held birdsong and the road was clear of debris and rubble. Compared to the vicious battles prior this area of the mountain seemed like a totally different world. Kazu took in a deep breath, letting the clan air fill his lungs, he exhaled happily and thought about what had been and what was lying ahead for them.

The most striking thought was of what was inside the temple. The architect Jijimon claimed that the DigiMental was an incredibly rare and powerful artifact, but at the same time Jijimon's friend had claimed that this ancient item had a relation to Kazu, the picture was enough to justify that.
"Kazu! Let's take a break! Me and Veemon'll go catch some fish. Gabumon could you whip up a small fire?"
The reptilian-fur-wearer would sigh and nod before trudging off to fetch some sticks. Kazu smiled;
"Haha, sure thing guys. But we can't stop for long ok?"
Agumon and Veemon shared an excited look, hi-fived and ran laughing down to the riverbank. Kazu strolled after them and sat down on a rock near the babbling water. His mind wandered back to the picture Jijimon had shown him, the strange silhouette definitely looked human, the question now was whether it was in-fact a projection of him. Kazu shut his eyes and rubbed them with his thumb and index finger, straining to think of what it could all mean. A sharp fizzing noise made him look up, only to see Agumon shooting tiny flames into the water and Veemon pouncing on the fish that jumped out of harms way. It was nice to see them so peaceful after all the fighting. Kazu looked up at the huge blue sky above and remembered the varying emotions that had flooded through him during the fighting; fear, anger, excitement, celebration. The last two unnerved him, did he really enjoy fighting? Or was it just that he was happy to have won without there being any major casualties? He looked back to his carefree partners, who were now being scolded by Gabumon. Kazu couldn't hear what they were saying but he watched as Veemon splashed the fur-wearing Digimon and Agumon playfully tackled him, much to his annoyance. The Tamer laughed and hopped down off of the rock, heading over to help with the snacks.

A few hours later and the group had arrived at a dead end. The narrow path they had been walking along had come to a halt and stretching out before them was the river bordered on both sides by unclimbable rock-faces. Kazu scratched the back of his head, the river curved away about 200 meters away from them so there was no way to tell how far it would be to fly with Ex-Veemon. Besides Ex-Veemon was strong but he couldn't carry Kazu, Agumon and Gabumon for long before he would get tired. Looking to the top of the rock-faces Kazu could see small rocks and stones being tossed about.
"It's too dangerous to get up there and walk... The wind would blow us away before we have a chance to react."
Kazu folded one arm across his chest and rested his other arm on top of it while holding his chin.
"Why don't we swim?"
Gabumon tugged at Kazu's sleeve and then pointed to his Tamers Digivice. Kazu stared at him for a second before clapping his hands together and ruffling his partner's head.
"Genius! Ok, Evolve Gabumon!"

~BGM: Brave Heart!~

"Gabumon! Shinka!!"
Gabumon's skin began to turn into a white light as he stretched out and warped into his true wolf-like form. As he burst forth he gave a triumphant howl and shook himself down.
"Garurumon!"
Kazu patted his muzzle and hoisted himself up and onto the huge wolf's back.
"Whoo! Free ride!"
Veemon jumped onto Garurumon's side and scrambled up onto his back, sitting behind Kazu. The Tamer held his hand out to Agumon who jumped and grabbed on, Kazu swung him around so he was sat behind Veemon and then tapped on Garurumon's side.
"Let's go!"

Garurumon jumped into the water with a splash, spraying his riders with clear droplets. The current was nothing to the huge wolf and he sliced through the water like it was paper, paddling merrily down the valley and towards the bend in the river. Agumon and Veemon cheered and pretended to play as pirates behind Kazu, who was now excitedly anticipating what awaited them at the end of the river...

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

The wind above the valley Kazu and his friends were surfing through was picking up. Kazu held an arm above his eyes to shield him from the spray and the dust.
"How we hanging in guys!?"
He was forced to raise his voice over the sudden roaring of the wind. The replies were muffled as everyone clung to Garurumon's fur desperately trying not to be blown away. The Tamer ground his teeth together as his finger weaved into the wolf's fur.
"Kazu... I can't... Arrgh!""
The wolf howled as the wind plucked him from the water and tossed him into the air. The group's screams were muffled as the wind roared around them, Kazu reached for his Digivice and pointed it at Veemon,
"Veemon! Fly!"
A bright light shone from the D3 and illuminated Veemon's face.
"Veemon! Shinka!!"
His body warped and elongated, his wings folding out and spreading wide, fighting against the raging winds. In a burst of light Ex-Veemon emerged.
"Ex-Veemon!"
The Dragon-Man wrapped his strong arms around Kazu and Agumon, Garurumon was still spinning in the air, hearing the new evolution he glowed brightly and dropped into his Gabumon form, grabbing onto Ex-Veemon's shoulder. The wind hammered into his wings, forcing the group high into the air, usually Ex-Veemon wouldn't be able to hold all three of his friends, but the massive cross winds were keeping him aloft with no effort but stabilisation.
"Kazu! What do we do!?"
Kazu looked around desperately, they were far too exposed in this wind and at this rate they were going to be blown off the mountain-side and into the abyss below. His eyes scanned the river they were just swimming through and he finally laid eyes upon what they had been searching for. Tucked away at the start of the river, just round the corner from where Kazu and company had been pulled from the water, was what looked like the entrance to a cave. Kazu waved and pointed towards the entrance, to which Ex-Veemon nodded.

After struggling against the ferocious winds, the group finally came to land at the mouth of the cave. Ex-Veemon collapsed the ground, the effort of navigating the gargantuan winds with three passengers catching up with him. His skin turned into while light and he shrank back down into his Veemon form, panting from the effort. Kazu patted his partner's head and helped him to his feet.
"You did good buddy. Rest up."
Veemon smiled and stretched out. Meanwhile Gabumon had found a stick and had blown some blue fire onto it's tip in order to light up the dingy interior of the cave. Kazu peered into the depths, his eyes straining from the dark, the vague outlines of civilized structures presented themselves to the Tamer's eyes.
"It smells like old in here."
Everyone turned to Agumon with a puzzled look.
"Smells like..."
"Old?"
Kazu stared for a moment before being overcome by laughter at his partners statement. Even in the middle of a raging storm and in a dank cave his friends could always find a way to make him smile and appreciate the little things. Together they all began to walk into the ruins, as they wandered the light from Gabumon's torch illuminated incomprehensible symbols and runes. Kazu gawked in awe of the ancient writings and structures, taken aback by their beauty. Their walking continued for a good ten minutes, the scenery changing from that of a cave peppered with scrawling to a fully formed corridor, hanging from the walls were long extinguished lanterns that Agumon and Gabumon took care to spew tiny fireballs at, granting the group more light. After 15 minutes of solid walking and opening presented itself to the group.

The group emerged into a chamber that was huge beyond belief, torches all over the walls lit themselves and audible gasp escaped Kazu's lips as they stepped into the room. In the very center of the chamber was a pedestal which was bathed in the glow of the torches on the walls, almost inviting the visitors to come towards it. Kazu looked around the chamber, it looked to be 100ft squared, insanely big considering the relatively small entrance they had walked through.
"I wonder why it's so big..."
Kazu was cut short by a low rumbling noise that filled the chamber around them.
"Kazu! The doors!"
The Tamer snapped his head around just in time to see Agumon collide with a stone door that slammed into place, blocking the route they had just entered from. Kazu, Veemon and Gabumon joined Agumon in pounding on the solid rock that had sealed them inside.
"Bugger!"
Kazu slammed his fist into the rock and rested his head against it. They were locked in, his mind raced for solutions, maybe if they all evolved to Adult stage then they could blow the door apart? A glinting light caught Kazu's eye, he looked across, past his partners who were still beating on the door. A gleaming lock glinted in the dull torch-glow, surrounded by a pile of rags, Kazu gulped and moved towards it, ignoring his partners cries as they hammered on the door. The Tamer bent down and picked up the source of the glinting, it was a book. The lock had been prised open and it was open on a page containing the very same pictures that Jijimon had shown him.
"That means that these rags..."
As it dawned on Kazu, his pupils shrunk to dots of fear. Jijimon's friend was dead, and all that remained were the tattered remains of his clothes and this book...

Almost in sync with his revelation, a chilling wind blasted through the chamber, extinguishing all of the magically lit torches and leaving the group in total darkness.
"Agumon! Gabumon! Give us light!"
Instantly his partners loosed fireballs towards the extinguished torches and managed to relight a few and shed some light against the door that had blocked them in. Kazu snapped the book closed and shoved it into his satchel, if nothing else he would make sure Jijimon got his friend's final heirloom. Kazu's partners gathered around him as they all scanned the ill-lit area they stood in, the slow rumbling picked up once more and a pin-p***k of light shone from the center pedestal. The pin-p***k expanded and grew out from the center of the room. Kazu and his friends threw their arms up the shield their eyes as the light encompassed the whole room. Lowering their arms the group was met with an entirely illuminated room, with no visible light source. The rumbling stopped and a few seconds of silence greeted the confused adventurers, the only noise was their own breathing and the occasional hiss of wind from the outside creeping through gaps in the ruins. Finally a voice drawled across the chamber, monotone but with a palpable force behind it.

"Who... Dares... Disturb the crypt... Of my Tamer..."

"I will return to this world...

Kazu Matsumoto

... To fight for this new future."

~Mission Continue!~

The voice resonated throughout the chamber, rooting Kazu and the Digimon to the spot. Kazu's eyes veered wildly around the room, searching for the source of the ominous voice.
"Kazu! There!"
Kazu followed Veemon's outstretched finger his gaze falling upon the center pedestal, something was rising out of the middle of the room, it's light bright even for what the group had experienced so far. Kazu raised his hand against the new light source and peered through his fingers. What arose from the pedestal was cuboid in nature and seemed to be made of gold, the penny finally dropped for Kazu,
"Guys! That's it! That's the DigiMental Jijimon was talking about!"
Kazu's partners squinted to get a proper view of the rising artifact, their astonishment and amazement vocalised with "ooh's" and "ahh's". The DigiMental stopped moving, now fully visible to the whole chamber, it's light now dimming as it came to rest. The voice rang out once more, somehow more pressing than before,
""Why... Are you... Here?"

The voice rung in Kazu's ears, somehow familiar to him, but he couldn't place it. Kazu swallowed, gathering his courage, and took a few bold steps towards the center pedestal.
"I said... Why are you here!?"
The voice was becoming more coherent, getting used to talking after presumably not being used in a while. Kazu halted for a moment before steeling his resolve and continuing towards the artifact.
"I'm here for the DigiMental!"
Apparently that was the wrong answer. The entire room shook, knocking Kazu to his knees. He grunted and shot a look up at the ceiling, dust and rubble began to fall from up high as something began to emerge. The item or object floated down slowly, coming to a rest just above the shiny golden DigiMental. The object, no, it was more of a figure hunched over and looking as though it were made of stone, The rumbling voice responded to Kazu, it's origin booming forth from the stone-like figure hanging in the air.
"You want... The DigiMental? No... No! It is not for you!"
The suspended figure juddered, cracking and breaking as it shook off the stone encasing it.
"Arrrrghhhh!!!"
The scream filled the chamber, Kazu looked back at his partners, all coving their ears and recoiling from the primal roar. Kazu clamped his teeth together and re-focused on the figure, the stone had fallen away to reveal a golden armour accompanied by patches of cream-coloured fur. In place of it's hands there were what looked like cannons, and it's thighs were adorned with two golden rings with more of the incomprehensible runes scrawled across them. The being huffed and panted as it broke free, it's eyes wildly observing it's environment before settling on the human Tamer before it. Kazu stared back, his memories of this Digimon flowing back to him like water into a container.
"Rapidmon..."

The golden armour Digimon stared at Kazu, his eyes not breaking for an instant. Kazu looked back, a feeling of dread filling him, this was another partner that he had lost during the Reset, another partner that had suffered because of him. Rapidmon raised an arm and pointed it towards the Tamer, Kazu raised his own arm, reaching out to his old friend...
"Kazu look out!"
Kazu snapped out of it just in time to be tackled by Gabumon. As the pair flew through the air from the force of Gabumon's tackle Kazu watched a missile burst from the tip of Rapidmon's hand and detonate in the space he had occupied just moments before. The ensuing explosion launched Kazu and Gabumon through the air, the hot air singing their hairs and inflicting minor burns. They hit the ground hard, rolling away to one side, Kazu raised his head to see the guardian pointing his arm at him and Gabumon once again, he lashed out, plucking the Digivice from his side he roared;
"Guys! Evolve!"

~BGM: Slash!~

All of Kazu's team began to shine, their skin glowing and their bodies beginning to mould and warp into new, bigger shapes and sizes.
"Veemon! Shinka!!"
"Gabumon! Shinka!!"
"Agumon! Shinka!!"
Veemon became more humanoid, his wings bursting forth from his back as his bladed horn erupted from his head. Agumon hunched over, becoming more reptile-like, a helmet of sorts forming over his head as he towered above the others. Gabumon dropped to all fours, becoming more and more like a canine, his fur becoming a part of his body and a mane of hair sprouting from his neck.
"Ex-Veemon!"
"Garurumon!"
"Greymon!"
The new adult level Digimon burst forth, each growling and ready to fight. Rapidmon seemed not to care, the closest Digimon in his sights were Greymon and Ex-Veemon, so he leveled his arms at them before launching two missiles into their direction.

"Ka--"
The explosion rocked the chamber, Kazu's cries of protest drowned by the flaming eruptions that Rapidmon caused. Sparing not a single second Garurumon pounced forwards, blue flames spilling from his jaw;
"Fox Fire!"
The blue inferno ripped through the air towards the golden rabbit, but Rapidmon reacted too quickly, swiping his arm to one side he deflected the flames with ease and locked both arms onto the air-borne wolf.
"Rapid Fire!"
Two missiles burst from the rabbit's arms and smashed directly into Garurumon. Kazu screamed and was lifted from his feet and hurled against the wall from the blow-back of the explosion.

~BGM: My Friend...~

Dizzy, the Tamer looked across the chamber and the three billowing smoke clouds. He gripped his Digivice tight in his hand and yelled at the top of his lungs.
""Rapidmon! Why are you doing this!?"
The Golden Armour Digimon halted for a moment, taking in the sight of Kazu. The Tamer stared into the shining Digimon's eyes, they looked sad, like they were pleading for something. Kazu tried to understand, tried to see what it was that Rapidmon wanted, but his thoughts were interrupted by his partner Digimon bursting out of the smoke;
"Nova Blast!"
"Ex-Laser!"
"Fox Fire!"
The three attacks simultaneously collided with the Armour Digimon shaking the chamber and covering the center pedestal with smoke. Kazu wobbled to his feet and made his way over to his partners, who had formed an offensive line near the door they had entered from. He placed a shaky hand on Greymon's shin to support himself. The T-Rex Digimon lowered his head to nuzzle his Tamer.
"Are you ok Kazu?"
Kazu nodded and stroked his partners chin. He'd live, but on the other hand he still needed to understand Rapidmon. Greymon let out a low-pitched growl and looked back towards the fading smoke-cloud in the middle of the chamber. Rapidmon hovered in front of the DigiMental, arms crossed and struggling for breath after the triple attack upon him. Greymon's growls got louder and more aggressive and Garurumon and Ex-Veemon stepped in front of their Tamer in order to protect him.
"Kazu... I won't let these thieves take the DigiMental..."

Everyone froze. Rapidmon's words were meant for Kazu, but clearly not for the human who stood before him. Confusion reigned for a few seconds before Kazu pushed through his partners and towards the Golden Digimon, totally unprotected. Rapidmon locked his eyes upon the Tamer as he waled towards the center pedestal. Kazu's partners all started forwards after their Tamer but he halted them with an outstretched arm.
"Rapidmon! You know it's me! You know that I'm Kazu! Kaz Matsumoto! The Tamer who Bio-Merged with you in the Old World! The Tamer who fought with you in the underworld! The Tamer who was your friend!"
Rapidmon simply watched as Kazu made his way to the Golden DigiMental. The Tamer stopped right before it and looked above him at the radiant Digimon above him. He slowly reached his hand out towards the artifact, never once breaking his line of sight from the Golden Rapidmon above him. His partners looked on, treading on eggshells, ready to pounce at a moment's notice. Rapidmon sank to the ground, standing taller then Kazu but so close that the Tamer could feel the heat radiating off of his Golden armour.

"Is it... You?"
Rapidmon looked from Kazu to the DigiMental, reaching out himself towards it. A flickering image began to form above the DigiMental, a humanoid silhouette fading in and out above the ancient artifact. Kazu stared, bewildered by what he saw. It was him, it was Kazu Matsumoto, but not in the form he was now. The flickering hologram wore a black shirt with a leather jacket, blue jeans and a pair of glasses adorned his face. The biggest difference was the flickering figure's hair, it was a messy brown tangle, flopping down over his eye in a disorganized fringe.

Kazu stared at the image projecting above the DigiMental, unable to muster words, Garurumon and Greymon looked on in confusion but Ex-Veemon had seen this version of the Tamer before;
"Kazu... That's... You..."
Kazu nodded. It was him... It was Kazu just after he had arrived in the Digital World. Kazu reached out and placed a hand on the DigiMental. An explosion of activity erupted around him: Rapidmon lurched towards him, his partners all jumped towards the seemingly offensive Digimon while the DigiMental exploded with light. Everyone in the chamber was blinded by the sudden explosion of white light... Kazu's mind was over-run, over-worked... Darkness consumed him.

Kazu awoke, untold hours later. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling above, his whole body felt tingly, like every centimeter of his skin was being hit by pins-and-needles at the same time. He groaned, attempting to sit up, something tugged at his hands, keeping him pinned to the floor for now. Kazu groaned and looked to his right hand.
"This is... Miracles"
Kazu turned to his left hand, something was perched in his left hand as well, weighing him down.
"D-Destiny?..."
The two DigiMental's rested in his palms, Kazu was speechless, staring at the golden artifacts with equal parts confusion and nostalgia. As if on cue, the DigiMental's shone brightly and turned into balls of light, warping into the D3 at Kazu's side. The Tamer let out a long sigh of relief and groggily pushed himself into a sitting position, looking around the now dark chamber he picked out his partners, Veemon was lying face-down groaning, Agumon not far away on his back, snoring as if he was taking a regular nap. Kazu looked up towards the pedestal in the middle of the room and spotted Gabumon, on his side and whimpering, but there was another heaped figure, laying not too far from Kazu that caught his attention.
"No way... Terriermon?"

~Mission Continue!~

The wind roared at the entrance to the cave. Agumon, Gabumon and Veemon sat around a small fire they had managed to salvage from the various torches throughout the old temple. Kazu stood apart from them, cradling a small and pale figure in his arms, he stared at the raging winds outside, there was no way that they would be able to walk or swim back. The Tamer sighed and looked down at the furry heap in his arms, the Terriermon was sleeping softly, nuzzling into Kazu's arms and holding it's head close to the young man's chest. He looked peaceful.

Back in the chamber the group had all come around to find the lights extinguished and the door open. Despite his companions protests, Kazu had opted to bring Terriermon with them, to try and explain what had happened and to figure out why he had been made the guardian of this place, and why there was a figure of the old Kazu floating above the DigiMental. The group had made their way back towards the entrance, but the winds had forced them to make a mock-up camp.
"We'll have to head back soon Kazu... What's our plan?"
Veemon walked over and peered into Kazu's arms, reaching up and poking the fluffy rabbit. Kazu clicked his tongue at the blue Digimon and pulled Terriermon out of poking range.
"Well, once we have a chat with Terriermon we'll probably use your Ex-Veemon form and let the wind carry us off the mountain. Sound good?"
Veemon nodded and made his way back to the other two, mumbling about wings and effort. Kazu shook his head with a smile, Terriermon squirmed in his arms and his eyes opened groggily.
"Ka... Zu?"
The Tamer smiled at the rabbit, gently ruffling the top of his head.
"How ya doing buddy? Had a good sleep?"

The group sat around their make-shift fire, expectantly looking towards Kazu. Terriermon sat in his lap, looking down uncomfortably. Finally the awkward silence was broken.
"So Terriermon... Care to explain what's been going on?"
The rabbit squirmed before Kazu reassured him by stroking his ears.
"I... I'm the guardian of this crypt... I don't remember how I got here or why. The last thing I remember before being here was being alongside Kazu, down in the Underworld... Then everything changed. I woke up here with nothing but the two DigiMental's. Whispers about a Reset reached me and I wanted to explore, but I couldn't pick up the DigiMental of Miracles, when I did... The image of you appeared..."
Terriermon's eyes began to quiver as tears rolled down them. Gabumon couldn't bear to look and looked away, Agumon and Veemon gripped one another's hands, their own eyes welling up. Terriermon sniffed before carrying on.
"I tried my best to lift the DigiMental... But I couldn't. I could pick up my one, the DigiMental of Destiny, so I figured if I used the power of that one I might be able to remove the Miracle DigiMental and leave this place. So I forced myself to Armour Evolve... It... It hurt, but I managed it. I protected this chamber from people who came to steal the DigiMental... But I couldn't move the artifact. That's when you all came along. It's been so long I just couldn't recognise my own friends!"

There was silence. Agumon and Veemon were sobbing at Terriermon's story while Gabumon was running his claws around in circles in the dirt. Kazu could feel his eyes dampening, a few tears escaping and plopping down on top of Terriermon. The little guy looked up, his own tears flowing freely.
"I'm so sorry buddy... It'll never happen again. I will not leave you."
Kazu squeezed his partner tight. That was the final straw, tears flowed openly from all his partners as everyone piled in in a giant group hug. A few minutes of group-sobbing passed before everyone straightened themselves out. Kazu got to his feet and brushed himself down, wiping away the tears from his reddened eyes.
"Ok guys... We're heading home."

~Two Days Later~

The hostel bustled with life as usual. Kazu sat in the common room, staring intently at a hand of cards.
"Got any... Three's?"
Agumon sighed and handed over one of his cards, Kazu grinned as he set his pair down. Their escape from the mountain had been relatively easy, Veemon had evolved to Ex-Veemon and let the intense mountain winds blow them off the mountain. From there it was just a case of allowing his wings to glide the group as far as he could, using this strategy they had cut a whole 3 days off of their travel time and made it back to New Network City in record time. Terriermon instantly hit it off with the rest of Kazu's partners and had taken to playing tag with Veemon around the hostel. Kazu smiled as he leaned back, allowing Gabumon to take his turn in the card game.
"Looks like our family is growing bigger by the day... Welcome back Terriermon..."

As morning dawned over the mountains Liam was awakened by the beams dancing across his face. His eyes slowly flickered as the dreams of the night faded away into vague memories. The Young man had slept well under the stars but it was time to get underway, so much to still explore. Liam rolled to his stomach and push up off the ground and began gathering up his supplies and breaking down camp. He had to catch his jacket as it tried to blow away in the wind. "Ok guys, are ya'll ready?" His Digivice lit up as a his team responded. "Yep let's do this thing!" "I'm all rested up and ready to go, let's head out Liam!" Liam smiled as they both emerged from the device.

Toucs took lead again as the group moved along the ridge toward their next point of interest. Along the way Liam could make out some of the lands laid out below them, making a mental note of where he might want to visit later. Liam turned his attention back to his friends, Biyomon was humming a tune and switching between flying and walking depending on how the path was. Toucs looked very focused like an expert tracker following a scent. "So Toucs, how far is this place?" Toucs looked up for a second, "Not far, we should be almost there actually. We should be able to see it just around.....this...what is that!?!?" As Liam and Faux cam around the corner they could see what he was talking about, billowing smoke rising up out of a small village in the distance, screams could be heard. Toucs took off at a sprint with Liam and Faux on his heels. "Liam be ready, I don't know what is going on but whatever it is they will probably need our help. Liam and Faux nodded and sprinted forward.

As they made their way up to the village they could see what was going on, "Ahhh...there, those are my friends" A group of small Digimon could be seen tied up and surrounded by a few Ogermon as well as some Digimon Liam hasn't seen yet. "I don't know who the big guys are but it seems they have taken over the village...well that just won't do, Liam, let's do this thing! We should start from the rock face over there and move toward the cliff, better chance to not fall off." Liam nodded and the trio slowly made their way to the face.

As they made it behind a rock Liam looked out and came up with a click plan. "Toucs, looks like there's only one guy right there, let's take him out and we should be able to make it to the first hut. Biyomon, you and I will run distraction for him. Everyone good?" Toucs nodded, Biyomon looked ready to help take down an Ogermon after her last encounter.

On Liam's signal they moved, The Digivice glowed as Toucs became Lobomon again and Liam and Biyomon both took off in different directions distracting the Ogermon guarding the side of the village. As the green beast wend for Biyomon Lobomon snuck behind him an hit him over the head with a roundhouse kick. The Oger dropped to his knees. Toucs turned and smiled at the other two, "Ha ha, that worked pretty well!" Liam and Faux starting laughing. Suddenly four more Ogermon and a Blue Ogermon all showed up, the blue one seemed to be leading the group and it wasn't long before he had Liam and his team, it was clear that they were in trouble and outmatched....
