Quote:
NAME OF CLASS: Arts and Crafts 101
PROFESSOR NAME: Professor Zixil Braxton

General information:
The Arts and Crafts room is tucked away in the corner - one way in and out, which is just how the teacher likes it. The classroom looks normal enough from the outside, with its standard door and numberplate (with an added addendum by the teacher, his name and the class title added on a piece of Muck Tape). The inside, however, looks like someone found all of the weird, eclectic stuff within a five mile radius, ate it, and then vomited it all up. The teacher has either completely lost his mind, or is trying way, way too hard. The cabinets that line the walls are partially filled with beginner art supplies: slime-based paints, earwax crayons, and...glitter, a thing so evil that it can be known by no other name.

Mechanics:
Your Most Excellent Professor isn't going to fill your head with crazy ideas. That's all up to you!

Upon entering the class, roll 1d100 to determine your Muse Level (ML).

Muse Level 1-20

Woah, you can't make art with a Muse Level this low! Go stare longingly at your first crush, or listen to emotional music, or cry it out! We can't have you making anything that's worth less than 20 silver seeds beneath your actual capabilities.

Muse Level 21-50

Did you dip yourself in paint and roll your face over the canvas? That's not going to be acceptable. Nobody will want to buy this. Or look at it. Not even kind of.

Muse Level 51-80

Looks like you might have the right idea. Go ahead and give it a shot. I guess the worst thing that could happen is you ruin everything, but that's okay.

Muse Level 81-100

Got a real overachiever here! Creativity is oozing from your pores (seriously clean that stuff up please)!

If you roll 1-50, you will need to make another attempt. A roll of 51-100 allows you to proceed. The above information correlating to your ML gives you a good idea of how your student will be approaching this assignment.

If you succeeded in developing a passable Muse Level, you will then need to roll a 1d10 to determine to overall success of your drawing/painting/sculpture etc. Feel free to pick whatever medium you'd like!

1-3 You really poured yourself into this one, but the Professor isn't quite feeling it. Take it home and pin it on your wall, because that's all you're getting. (Fail. You'll have to make another attempt!)
4-9 You paid careful attention to details, color schemes, and - most importantly - marketability. Professor Braxton smashes a sickly note to your body with a sloppy "A" written on it, because ruining the art would be a travesty. As far as you can tell, you've done a good thing. (Pass!)
10 You are a prodigy! This thing belongs in a museum! Or the home of the highest bidder! Your artwork will be displayed in front of the entire class. Hope you're not shy. (SUPER-PASS!)

You must RP your student creating their...well, whatever they make.

Bonus Mechanics:
•If you include a DRAWN representation of the piece of art that your student creates, you can automatically add 2 to your success roll, ultimately bringing up their final score. These drawings do not have to be anything fantastic, and can be as detailed or non-detailed as you want.

•Any student who is able to use magic to create illusions can roll 1d4 to determine how amazing their artwork appears. Which is what matters. If you roll even, you can add 1 point. If you roll odd, no points can be added. This can not be combined with the 2 points you can add when including an image.

•Any student who lacks dexterity (lookin' at you, claw-handed monsters) can roll 1d4 to determine their ability to talk Professor Braxton into believing that the piece of art's concept is going over his head and is, in fact, a true masterpiece. If you roll even, you can add 1 point. If you roll odd, no points can be added. This can not be combined with the 2 points you can add when including an image.

Each visit to the classroom has the potential to span multiple posts due to the amount of dice rolls. You can interact with other students, try to steal their concepts - whatever you'd like to play out!

YOU COMPLETE THE CLASS WHEN

You pass the class!

Freya was more than a little excited to go try out some arts and crafts. It was the kind of class that did not electrocute or kill you. That was reason alone to be thrilled! But more importantly, she had no idea if she was good with things like crafts at all. Kettil made her play with beads once, but she'd never tried to paint or sculpt anything. And she knew, as soon as she walked in and started touching all the things, she was going to have fun finding out whether she was any good at anything yet.

She started to fiddle with the paints, to see if the colors inspired her. They did not. So instead she squirted them up into the air messily.

"I don't thinks I am a painter." Freya announced out loud, as the splatter covered the desk she was working on. She might not have been good at it, but damn, that was fun.

Kettil wandered with Freya to the classroom and had settled in to do some art. He didn't know what art he wanted to do but still he tried to paint with Freya and got more of it on himself than he did on his intended canvas. Kettil smeared some blue paint over his chest rather than clearing it away, "Mmm. Not sure I am a painter either. It is not somethin' I am real used to workin' with y'know?"

He reached over and brushed some paint across the bridge of Freya's nose so she could match him.

That and shenanigans.

"Warrior Queen Freya~," he grinned cheerfully.

Freya let him paint her down the nose, and grinned when he called her a warrior. She dipped her fingers into the same color paint he used, and painted a line down each of his cheeks. Now he, too, was a warrior.

That inspired her. Oh yes, that definitely inspired her.

"Let's go puts our hands in things." She growled out fiercely, wiping her hands clean and looking for the first bowl of muck she could find. Sculpting clay! Hurray! She dove in, her fingers just getting the feel of the muck between them.

"Is so messy and mushy." She announced, trying to pull out gobs of it and make them stick together. "I wants teh makes something with this!"

Inspiration complete.

Kettil let her paint his face with a short chuckle passing his lips as she did so. When she seemed to suddenly become inspired, with a growl to her voice no less, Kettil was more than just a little intrigued. Thus he got up and followed her and when she found some clay he also dove in with her putting his hands in.

The earthy feel of the clay and their proximity - the idea of putting their hands in things together.

Suddenly he was inspired as well.

He wasn't sure if she had a similar plan though he was interested to see if she did.

"Let's create something wonderful together with this mushy messy stuff!" Kettil announced as he moved to make sure he got a good gob of it.

Freya felt around in the clay, until she could feel Kettil's hands too. Her fingers brushed against his, like a fish toying with its bait. Then she took her hands out of the clay, and grinned devilishly. She'd had exactly the same idea he had, and it meant needing absolutely no artistic abilities whatsoever. It just meant being creative.

"We needs.. plaster!" She wiped her hands clean and started to look around, until she found a big bag of the stuff. She tried to heave it up into her arms, and failed miserably. So Kettil got the job of carrying the plaster, and she just read the instructions.

"Adds.. water.. okays.." She dumped the bag into a bucket, and turned on the faucet for Kettil to add water. "It says one parts water two parts mixture. So. Okays." She didn't know exactly what that meant.. but made believe she did, and just waited for Kettil to figure it out himself.

"And mix.." This, too, she let Kettil too. Being a supervisor was fun. "Okays. Now we has teh.. I knows!" She grabbed two metal boxes, and turned them on their sides. "Yeh fills these up, and we'll sticks our hands in there and lets it dry. Ja?"

Kettil was a good obedient sort of boilfriend especially now that there was a task afoot. He focused in on it rather than causing a fuss or trying to playfully undermine the Warrior Queen as she bossed him around. He carried the bag of plaster to where it needed to be and then watched Freya curiously as she read the instructions and then proceeded to let him figure it out.

For the most part Kettil was semi-familiar with this sort of thing since he'd worked with his father when working on other homes. So he fiddled with the water and plaster ratio until they got a workable texture for them as he mixed it.

When she presented him with a container to put the mixture in he poured it in with no problems, "Okay! I think we did good."

She clapped her hands and threw away the instructions. "Okays! It takes a half hour teh get solid." She informed him, as she dunked her entire hand in, and positioned it in an artistic feeling way. Sort of like reaching out for another hand, she thought. It was all so avant garde.

"So." She hummed to herself, as she tapped her chin with one finger of her free hand. "Whaaat should we does teh pass the times for a half hour while we stands here..."

Her face was the picture of innocence, which was why it was so obvious what she was actually thinking.

Kettil laughed as he mimicked Freya by putting his hand in the gunk that they had made and fiddled around a bit until he got a 'gesture' that he felt was right and seemed like it might complete what Freya was doing.

Maybe.

His head tilted toward her as he observed the innocent look on her face and squinted a bit as he leaned toward her, "What could we do I wonder."

Kettil could pretend to be innocent and verbally beat around the bush but he had no patience for that at the moment as he just planted a light kiss upon her lips.

Freya could always count on Kettil to get the message.

A half hour and several kisses later, Freya's hand felt like it could slide out of the plaster without pulling any of it. It was firm, and hard, so she pulled out and went to get the clay. Filling the box with the clay was easy, and she even made a point of filling up Kettil's when his hand was out, too. Then she put the clay down, and packed it in as hard as possible, to get all the air bubbles out. Once she was satisfied, she set a timer and sat down on a seat. Her hand got wiped clean with a cloth, as she sighed dramatically.

"Art is hard work. Twenty more minutes, then we can take it out and bake it, for another twenty."

Her hands reached up for him. "Okays, back teh works on me now."

If art was consistently pleasant like this? Kettil wouldn't mind becoming an artist full time - that much was certain. He almost pouted when it was time to get his hand out of the plaster because that meant they had to focus on the actual work again.

He helped with the clay and making sure all the nooks and crannies got completely filled.

"I don't know. I'm enjoying some of the work," he grinned over at her.

She didn't have to wait long because he soon lifted her up for another kiss.

Despite how much time they were spending making their clay hand molds, Freya felt like time was speeding by too quickly, so that when the timer popped up, she audibly screamed into his kiss and then worked to calm her heart down. The hands were in the oven before she could speak, and she was back in his arms within mere seconds.

The second timer must have been even faster. She could have sworn it was only a minute or two. She let out a frustrating groan, and slammed her hand against it, knocking the alarm off of the desk and as far away as possible. She wasn't done yeeet..

To say he was a little alarmed when she initially screamed into the kiss was probably an understatement, but he soon figured out the cause with his brain hazed over from just all the kissing they'd been doing. It wouldn't take long for them to resume after the sculptures were in the oven but it seemed an even shorter amount of time after they started kissing again.

The alarm got knocked off the table and he stubbornly kept kissing her and just holding onto her until he felt as if he was being glared at from somewhere outside of the little world he had created for himself and Freya.

He pulled away with a small sigh, "We better finish up before we get kicked out," he murmured to her lightly. "We'll .. Resume back in our room," he grinned at her.

As soon as Kettil pulled away, however, it knocked her back into reality, and she didn't even wait for him to finish talking. She made a strangled sound and shimmied away, running for the oven and opening it. She used some weird wooden giant spatula thing to pull their two hands out, and settled them carefully down on a table. Then she closed, and turned off the oven, before actually looking at their handiwork.

"Awww," She coo'd out, walking over to hold his hand. The two imprints of their hands looked like they were going to fit perfectly together. She used a hand cover to push hers closer, and closer, until her clay hand fitted neatly into his.

Kettil grinned proudly, "Not bad for not being able to see how the other was forming the hand in the plaster," he said cheerfully. "Perfect even." He squeezed her hand in approval as the sculptures fit neatly together.

"We did good work today," he said happily, adequately proud of what they had done - even if no one else would agree.

He glanced over at Freya, "We should do art more often~."
