I've been on Gaia for a pretty long time and never before felt the urge to grab some Gaia cash.
I don't know. It's not like I am not willing to part with my money.
If Gaia ever messaged me saying 'we are running low on funds please save us' I would definitely donate.
I suppose what kept me from craving Gaia Cash like some of my friends is the fact I am usually satisfied with relatively cheap items. The more expensive items I have are all from back in the day when I bought them for 20k and crazy inflation. That or my friends give them to me. ^^;
Today, I was in the forums, and this girl had a super adorable avatar. The item that made me super excited was called Aria something. It's in the cash shop. I can have that item if I just threw ten bucks at Gaia. If I quested for it with gold, it would take forever. People who's only been here for two days have that adorable item and all they needed to do was throw in ten bucks so why shouldn't I?
I seriously wanted to do it for a second, guys. I seriously did.
Gaia really is getting better at making people want Gaia cash, I suppose. Or I've gotten more greedy and no longer satisfied with my pretty Cross stitch skirts.
Have you guys ever felt a super strong urge to get some Gaia Cash? What did you end up doing? Buying cash or stepping away? I'd love to hear people's opinions.
And oh, please don't judge me. U.U

I've bought cash, then saved it for impulse buys XD
Peyokon, Aria Dannata, Pandaista, Band of Bremen
Then the EI bundle that had Agape 3rd. Got it only for Agape XD
The tea party bundle
I have a few impulse buys. More on my alt as well, though hers are generally more themed to her

Because now I look at the same item again and that strong urge disappeared.

We would never judge you here, sweetheart, and we don't discourage anyone from doing what they enjoy here on Gaia. We just want Gaia to rethink and revise how they've chosen to make GC a part of every aspect of the site now.
I've never bought Gaia Cash, and I certainly never will, but that's my personal choice, just as you are free to exercise yours. Unfortunately, what you've described would be music to Gaia's ears: They've gone far out of their way to make it difficult to enjoy many facets of this site (including the pretties) without buying GC. If I had once been a cash buyer, I would stop buying on that basis alone, but again...that's just me. heart

I'm probably in the minority here, but none of their recent items have interested me whatsoever. Mainly because the only items I like are Were-Items, and they haven't released many of those recently. Even though they released a few Were-Items, none of them are the "right type," because I still prefer the older Were-Items. The most recent one I was tempted to buy was Fallon the Fox, which I bought from the Marketplace while it was still only four million or so.

Right after I swore off GC a couple of months ago, I had to fight the urge not to buy the newest EI, MC and my typical Superchargers for resale. I kept seeing the Supercharger prices climb higher and higher and I wanted to take advantage of it so bad. But I realized that I had myself a promise already and I know I had to keep it for the sake of others who are doing the same. I also realize that this situation is exactly what they wanted me to do, was take advantage of the climbing prices and continue purchasing. I felt like I would be buying into the abuse that they are subjecting the community to. It took about a month before that urge disappeared and now I just look at everything insulted by it all.

Believe it or not, I had the urge to buy FLYNN'S BOOTY the time they released 25 for $5. I had never bought GC, and I never have. They offered it strictly to people who didn't buy and made the deal extremely sweet. I never buy on impulse, so I made myself think about it a few days and realized it would only encourage Gaia to keep releasing it. I'm so glad I didn't buy it.
I will not buy anything for GC--not unless they shape up, change management and say straight up "WE NEED YOUR HELP". I would donate in a heartbeat if I knew it would save Gaia. If I donate now, I'm only helping to destroy it.
That's how I see it, anyway.

When GC first became a thing, I totally bought it fairly often, mostly for the Letters to save myself some trouble. It was fine and I had no qualms tossing money at Gaia back then, but due to financial and personal reasons I stopped sometime in 2010. I have yet to see anything tempting enough to make me want to purchase GC again, but even if such were the case, I wouldn't considering how things are now. I'd rather just earn the gold.

I'm tempted sometimes when I see something cute but you know... I remember when they first came out with the evolving items and stuff and it was like for every item out there that I like there are probably like 10 cheaper items that are pretty cute that are similar. If not there will probably be some item that will come out in the future that will devalue the item that is so expensive now. I just think about that and somehow I can often stop myself from wanting stuff from the cash shop. I mean like the cute hairs used to be so great when they first released some and now every other item has some cute hairstyle. I try to always keep that in mind when they tempt me.

I have -never- purchased any Gaia Cash using real money. Short of a GC gift card I received as a gift in my first year here, all the GC that I use is strictly what I've earned via the Daily Treats and the Cash Tree videos. It does take quite awhile for the free GC to build up, so the majority of the cash items I own were bought at MP prices using Gaia Gold.
