It is found worldwide and has both magical and non-magical uses. Powdered root of Asphodel is used in the creation of various potions, such as the Draught of Living Death, and the Wiggenweld Potion. Asphodel (Asphodelus ramosus) is native to Europe. The ancient Greeks associated it with the death and the underworld, believing there was a meadow of asphodel in Elysian Fields, and considered it sacred to Persephone, goddess of the spring and queen of the underworld. Asphodel was once believed to be a favourite food of the dead, and so was commonly planted near graves.
The nettle, also known as the stinging nettle (Urtica diocia) or burn hazel, is a widespread plant known for the stinging hairs that grows on its leaves. Nettles are used in potion-making: fresh nettles are used in the Boil-Cure Potion, whereas dried nettles are used in the Herbicide Potion. Nettles are presumably the main ingredients of beverages like nettle wine and nettle tea. Nettles can also be made into a soup, and are rumoured to improve the glossiness of one's hair.
Dittany is a magical plant used in Potion-Making, and is a powerful healing herb and restorative. Its use makes fresh skin grow over a wound, and after application, the wound seems several days old. In addition to its essence being applied topically, the raw plant can be consumed to heal shallow wounds. Shredded Dittany is an ingredient in the creation of the Wiggenweld Potion. Also known as Burning Bush, it sometimes releases flammable vapours. other suggested uses are for preventing scaring to help heal a person after they have splenched themselves and to heal from snake bites that have poison ditany is quite rare but a very small amount goes a long way
Wormwood is a very bitter herb, used in potion-making since ancient times. An Infusion of Wormwood is used in the concoction of the Draught of Living Death, Elixir to Induce Euphoria, and the Shrinking Solution in reality, wormwood is purported to have a wide range of uses (which may or may not hold true in the HP universe), including: antipyretic (febrifuge); anthelmintic; stomachic; tonic; hallucinogenic; and culinary. It is also believed to enhance psychic abilities in some religions
