Amarus stood on the pool's clear cover, looking down into the water. It was there so that the gym could be a good sparring ground during the daytime, when the pool was closed, but it was kind of beautiful. She had never taken the time to admire it before.
Revenge's lock smoked and constricted, nestled on her sternum. She was trying not to feel its weight, not to feel the chains as they pressed against her skin. Even intangible, the lock remained. Part of her. Her mirror-silver eyes narrowed as she looked down at the water again, mesmerized.
She was listening: listening for a familiar sound, the Reaper she had been business partner to for quite some time. At least none of her memories of him had been twisted; some of her once-fond memories had really become dark, distorted beyond recognition. None of him, though, it seemed. The one time she didn't have to feel suffocated.
And she really missed fighting. The release of it was cathartic. She had her hands folded into a kuji-kiri, and merely waited, still, silent. Listening.
Preparing. She'd already stretched a while ago. It was showtime.

Enzo had been spending a lot of time in the gym as of late. He should probably have attended more classes. With everything that occasionally ripped its way through their schoolyard, it was clear to him he needed to start at least trying. There wouldn't always be a crony around to break legs FOR him. If he wanted to go anywhere, he had to tighten up his game.
He only heard the distant tinkle of bells in the back of his mind, eyes focused on the punching bag. Several rats watched him from up top, scrambling and clinging to it's slick fabric whenever he landed a blow and sent it swinging.
Bob and weave. Keep your fists up. His father's words echoed through his brain and his brows narrowed, eyes locked on the target.

Off at one of the punching bags, that was Enzo? Amarus wondered to herself, if she could approach him without him turning. She wasn't exactly one to attack unarmed individuals, but-- she wondered, wondered what it would be like if she tried to use her Lotus Wine on him.
She cut open one of her palms using the metal lotus charm attached to the end of her bound hair, and flicked the drops towards him so that they curled into a purple smoke. Its colour was inconsistent; sometimes it was pink, other times purple. "Hello, Enzo," she greeted him.
She was smiling, as her essence curled around them. Her eyes narrowed, in a sort of malevolent way. But she was pleased. Very pleased.
HP: Dmg: none; The Mind affects Enzo next turn, -1 to regular modifier. The feverish confusion and hallucinations are slightly more common effects of this ability in Y2; sensations of euphoria. FEARs: The Mind Y2; Tainted Fang Y1
He didn't notice the wisps of smoke curling up about his ankles and knees, lost in the heat of the blows. At the sound of his name, though, he whirled around sharply, his punch going wild to swipe at the air between them. Wobbling backward, he blinked a few times as his head spun at the now-familiar smile.
"Well, heeeeeey there, good-lookin'! What's a tall drinka' water like you doin' in a place like this?"

By the time he had noticed her arrival, her essence had affected him, though mildly-- it dissipated before she even really had a chance to enjoy the effect. Still, she shrugged one shoulder and smiled at him, silver eyes glinting. She was strangely happy to see him.
"I think you just complimented me, to which I must say thank you," she tried to reply. She reached out one hand, as if to get more of her essence onto him, but at the last second withdrew and clasped them in front of her in a kuji-kiri instead. "I must confess, Enzo, I wondered what it would be like to fight you, and I may have poisoned you. Just a little," she said, holding up her index and thumb to indicate a tiny amount. It was no big deal, the effects had already mostly worn off, right..?
"If you are training regardless, would you mind showing me your technique?" She slid into a defensive pose, clearly assuming he'd oblige her. She was smiling wide. This was exciting. She hoped he would not decline, somewhere deep within herself, though outwardly she assumed he would not.

"Poisoned me?" He wobbled, blinking a few times as the feeling of euphoria slowly deminished. "Ooooh, playin' dirty, huh? Ahehehe, well, don't think I'll go easy on you just cause you're a dame!" He smirked. The upper classman could easily school him anyway- that was why he was training so hard, right?
He grinned, shifting his stance to raise his hands in his boxing position before lunging- and then pulling back with a surprise upper cut. "Hah!"

That was certainly not the fighting style she was used to. She was used to grace, technique, pauses, breath-- like dancing. This was so straightforward. She was caught completely off-guard, and didn't even manage to hit back, surprised. She reached up and touched her chin, eyes widening a little, and then she burst into laughter, darting back to fold her hands into the kuji-kiri for Kai.
"I should have anticipated your, ah, style," she said, clearly enjoying herself, despite the fact that her jaw stung from the blow. It had been a good first strike, indeed!

"So we sparin' or what?" Enzo gave her a wink, bobbing and weaving around her in a circular motion. It had been a while since he had been in a ring- and one could hardly count pee-wee boxing as proper boxing. The fight against Nahm still stung, and yeah, so, his opponent was a girl, that didn't mean he didn't respect what he knew Amarus could do.
"Or you just bedazzled by my pretty face, Pidge?" He snickered before swinging another punch.

How rusty was she, in the end?! This was ridiculous! Perhaps she had grown complacent in her spare time, but she was certainly sobering up; the amused look was replaced by a sort of focus she had not quite displayed yet. She was taking their spar a little more seriously now. It was still enjoyable, of course, but she did want to be actual competition, not just his punching bag V.2.
"That was an excellent hit," she said, nodding her head, bells ringing, before she folded her hands instead into the kuji-kiri for Rin, her favourite, and surged forward suddenly, striking at his core with her palm before thrusting again towards his gut.

The sudden charging blow took the Reaper off guard, knocking the wind from his lungs, the second blow cementing that as he scrambling backward out of range. He made a fist, but instead of throwing it, The Boss who had been resting in the corner, sat upright at attention, thrumming a sudden back beat as Enzo gave a low whistle.
Several rats that had been milling about the place suddenly sat up right, also at attention, before leaping at the woman, sharp teeth ready to nibble at anything substantial while their commander took a moment to catch his breath. "You aint the only one with tricks up their sleeve," he wheezed with a laugh.
HP: 24/30 Damage: 9 Fear: swift strikes! First Level: 7d4 First Dice: xxxxx 1: Miss xxxxx 2 - 3: HIT however the resulting damage is divided by 2. "Even better..." she said said, between sucking in breaths of air to try to figure out what was happening. She flexed one hand into a fist and uncurled its fingers, still in pain from his last move: what was it about The Boss that had made that so unpleasant? It was really the stupid rats, and she had already disliked vermin to begin with. She darted towards Enzo as soon as she could.
Naturally, Enzo was a reaper, a fact Amarus sometimes neglected to remember. She licked the trickle of essence off her palm, tasting its sweet relief. She felt her usual sense of calm wash over her.
Pain or not, she was still able to fight.
She lashed out again, this time targeting various sensitive places on his arms.

Before he could gloat over the rodent minions actually responding to his call further, Amarus was on him, able hands landing key blows that for a moment left him immobilized. He staggered backward with a startled yelp, arms hanging full of pins and needles as he tried to shake the feeling back into them. "There's m'girl!"

"Tch," she managed, uncharacteristically, the corner of her mouth going up in a grin again when Enzo still seemed to cheer her on. That he'd managed to hurt her so much so fast impressed the ghoul, and she wished she had thought of fighting him earlier. And more often.
Because this was fun, and fascinating.
As an afterthought to the amusement, she started to re-focus on previous pressure points, emphasizing previous painful blows.

"Hey hey hey, I'm onta' you, toots!" He winced, gritting his teeth to fight back the yelps of pain each swift blow encouraged, side-stepping out of the way with a shake of his foot, as though this was nothing more than another type of Swing. The Boss's backbeat continued, centering him amidst the fight, at least, and gave them good background music. He stepped back with a shake of his foot, fist flying her direction in the middle.

A memory untainted, because it had not been sacrificed, rose to the surface; she instinctively touched the lock on her sternum as if afraid it would distort this precious memory too: Enzo pulling her into a dance, the stage at prom, how nice that had been, how much it had been a relief.
A relief from what, she could not quite remember. She merely had this sense she had been miserable, and afraid of something, and full of regret. Then it disappeared, and she only moved in time to make the blow less painful than it may have been, still sustaining it decently. She winced briefly, as she was becoming more and more tired.
"Shall we dance?" she teased, gesturing at The Boss and the music, recognizing Enzo's movements in a way.
Untz untz. KUJI KIRI ACTIVATE.
Nope.
Glancing hit, Amarus sad-- not really, though the glancing hit was accurate. Amarus underestimated Enzo's distance from her and barely managed to graze him with a blow.
