DEUS EX MACHINA PERSONNEL FORM
The Hunter Name: Anta Mubarak(*) The last name is one Anta picked out of a book for purposes of redirecting blame when people asked for her real name while on jobs. Her real name is Anta Cameron Reis. Nicknames: Mouse Gender: Female Age: 25.
Category: Death
Personality Anta Untrusting Anta just doesn't trust people. She's been burned enough times by people who should, by her personal code of honor and ethics, have had her six. They didn't, and it left her on the streets and unable to go home. Without a great deal of wearing down, she has no interest in trusting others beyond the scope of necessity for missions. Stoic Outwardly, Anta reacts very rarely and only to a few key triggers. She can be stone-faced and serious, and prefers this act because it allows her to maintain a level of distance from others. Tempermental ...but she's not always stoic. There are certain triggers, things that set Anta off in a bad way, that bubble up all the fury and rage and hate she's burying down in her stomach. It makes her lash out at anyone in the area but especially the one who dared to piss her off in the first place. She'll feel guilty for it afterward, but not during her blind rage. Borderline Violent Anta is always at this very careful level of control because she's very aware that this is a problem for her. It's instinct to lash out and pop someone in the jaw, and it shouldn't be. But she can't seem to help herself, especially not when someone trips her temper button. Strong and silent Anta doesn't want to talk to you. She just doesn't. Talking is step one to trusting people and she doesn't like to do that. But that doesn't mean she won't listen; in fact, she does that very well! She has a good memory with conversations, and tends to cling to minute details that seem important. (Sometimes this results in her glossing over important things, like 'the keys are over there', but not usually). She also will especially shy from personal discussions that require her to open up about her history. Her baggage is her own; she doesn't want anyone else to carry it. A ticking time bomb She wears her personality like a suit of armor, and underneath the facade of a tough girl with no need for anyone else, she hurts. She was betrayed by someone she wanted approval from, and in choosing him over her squad, she alienated the bonds she had developed in Basic. This hurt has manifested into a carefully contained rage, and she holds this rage like a fire, clinging to it in a vain and unrealistic attempt at clinging to some shred of her father and what his betrayal took from her. And yet, underneath this armor... It is possible for her to wear down. It's even likely to happen, especially given the crucial elements of Deus Ex Machina's hunters working together against a common enemy. When she is worn down far enough, Anta is fiercely protective of those she considers friends, and can be a little possessive and afraid of losing them. This, however, takes a lot of wearing down, and more likely she'll stop giving you the cold shoulder, at least, if you're an acquaintance who doesn't piss her off.
Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter? Anta Reis spent the last two years of her life in Egypt on the streets, doing ocassional odd jobs thanks to friends she made in the city of Matareya. Prior to this, through a series of unfortunate happenstances, Anta worked with her father, a man she had not known growing up in the United States, on jobs he claimed were for the "cultural benefit" of Egypt.
He was a tomb raider, and his very nature meant that he only ever sought the next big treasure. It took three years before Anta realized where his priorities fell, but by that point the damage had been done. Previously enlisted in the marines, Anta was officially AWOL. Rather than return to the US to be persecuted, Anta arranged through a network of her father's friends a dummy to be found, in an attempt to relist her status as KIA, to ensure her mother received some benefit from her foolish decision.
After leaving her father's employment, Anta changed her last name through the use a few favors from one of her father's colleagues, gaining fake IDs to secure her travel from Cairo to Matareya. Since then, she's been living on the streets, ocassionally taking less than savory jobs but trying to keep straight and support herself. She's joining Deus Ex Machina as an attempt at pennance for deserting her squad in the first place, and regain some of the pride she'd lost in leaving the marines to be her father's puppet.
As to the sensitivity to Amityville forces, prior to her desertion Anta witnessed fear at its worst in Egypt. She saw... things. Things that came out of the sand, that were so terrifying people were afraid to leave their houses, wouldn't venture more than a foot into the desert for fear of never coming back. That fear was very, very real, but Anta had written it off as superstitious. Still, she could almost see them...
Physical Description: Eye Colour: Green-blue. Hair Colour/Style: Brown, short. Skin Colour: Tan. Clothing Style/Colours: Because of where she's from, Anta generally sticks with loose fitting clothes, cottony fabrics to keep her cool. This cold weather on the island bullshit? She's not thrilled with that. >:C Extra: See pic, basically? She has her utility belt and it's pretty much a necessary component to her outfit. She keeps all of her tictacs in there. You don't mess with a girl's tictacs. References: See pic above! :]
The Weapon
Name: Raith* I'm still checking if this is available or not, but am fairly certain it hasn't been taken. Nicknames: Pissant. Type of Weapon: Knuckle Weapon Former species of weapon: Wrath Demon Gender: Male
PersonalityProud and smug, Raith is a wrath demon well aware of his worth in life. He takes great fun in taunting and manipulating his host, and enjoys playing the devil's advocate when she tries so very hard to be good. In spite of this malicious teasing, Raith is very possessive of his host. He'd waited this long for one, and the anger in her is so soothing after being so long in the dark and silence. He'd protect her with all he has, because she's his only outlet to the world.
He just won't make it easy on her.
Weapon Ability Given the nature of Raith's kind, Anta's weapon FEAR ability focuses on affecting their opponent by making them angry. An ability of the mind, when attacking an opponent, Anta can use Raith's wrathful aura to, essentially, piss off her opponent into striking blindly, lowering their chance of accuracy due to rage set off by Raith's Wrath.
Sidenotes of Interest Because of the circumstances for her being in Egypt, primarily Anta speaks English, but she has picked up enough Arabic because of being in Egypt for 6ish years to follow some conversation. Not much, but some.
