1x1 for FaeryFae and Samantha Whitfield, if you are neither then do not post.

Setting
The setting will be Yorktown, a bustling city with a secret society. What is that society? Demons and monsters, many familiar from children's tales and the myths of various cultures. But in Yorktown, they have a haven. Established as part of a treaty twenty years ago between the Council on the Supernatural and the Demonic Court, demons are allowed to live within the boundaries of the metropolis, so long as they do not commit egregious crimes.

This is the tale of one unfortunate police woman.

Profiles
        Name: Alexa Rae Stark
        Age: Twenty-three
        Gender: Female
Personality: Outside of work, Alexa is usually pleasant and gregarious, and a bit sarcastic, though she tries not to make snide remarks when on duty. She is naturally curious and adventurous, which can lead to her being impulsive and leaping without looking first. At work, she is very serious, thorough, and commanding with those who are under her.
Backstory: Alexa grew up with her father and younger brother in a single-parent home. Her mother passed when she was seven due to health complications. She was always sporty and tomboyish, preferring to play with water guns and climbing trees to playing dress up with dolls, even though her father tried to raise her like a proper little girl. After graduating from high school and enrolling in college, she took a class in criminology, and decided to pursue a career in it. She enrolled in police academy and passed with high marks. She’s been on the field professionally for only a few months.
Skills: Expert in hand-to-hand combat, especially in jujitsu and in weapons training.

        Age: Twenty-four
        Gender: Male
Personality: Samael is cunning, devious, and willing to do anything to get what he wants. He's sadistic and prone to torturing others. He also enjoys dominating weaker souls, as he is known to frequent brothels and even simply force himself onto humans that catch his fancy.
Backstory: Samael is the son of a succubus and human male. The two were hunted. When cornered, Samael's mother, Lillis, was left dead but the boy survived. At the young age of seven, he was taken into the custody of the church and raised. He soon escaped, vowing to eventually bring the demons into the ruling class of Earth.
Skills: Hypnotic suggestion, limited telepathy, flight
        Played by: Samantha Whitfield

        Name: Ariadne Yahir
        Age: Thirty-one

Ah, another mundane Monday morning. Alexa sighed as she continued the short walk from the coffee shop on to the station. She took a sip of the warm chai tea from its cup and a bite of cheese danish, careful to not get anything on her top. She thought that being a police officer would be a bit more…exciting. As it turns out, Yorktown was not very high in moral decay. Serious crimes were not so common in the bustling city. The majority of calls were for small offenses, vandalism, B & E, and traffic stops. It wasn’t quite the glamorous and high octane profession that she envisioned, but, then again, she supposed that she should be thankful for that.

Alexa held the danish between her lips as she used her now free hand to open the station door and step inside. After saying a few ‘hellos’ and ‘good mornings’ to other officers in passing, she sat down at her desk. She quickly finished her pastry and set to work, going over some of yesterday’s reports and making sure that they are properly filled and filed.

Maybe today something will happen to liven things up a little bit.

Alexa indeed should have been happy for the calm work environment. However, as the young policewoman was going to learn Yorktown was not as peaceful as the calm surface might have indicated. No, there was a seedy underground. An underground that she would soon get caught in.

As the young woman made her way to her desk, she would hear in the background a woman arguing with another of the detectives. The argument was loud, but couldn’t be made out. It definitely sounded like she was upset about something one of her colleagues did. That dark-haired woman ended up storming out a few moments later. Besides that, the morning was rather boring as expected. It was only a few hours later that anything remotely interesting would happen.

Chief Dawson came down and made a bee line straight for her desk. He was a tall, square-jawed man with a face that just screamed ‘avoid me’. Indeed, most everyone quickly started to act busier than they really were, if only not to attract the man’s wrath. However, he was not making one of his normal rounds in the trenches. The chief had business with Alexa.

“Ms Stark?” he asked, stopping at her desk and sipping his coffee. “I need to see you in my office.”

With that, the dark-haired male immediately left her side and headed back to his office. Those at nearby desks looked her way with worried expressions. Getting asked into his office was never a good thing.

Blue eyes glanced up from her papers when the chief addressed her. What now? Why did the chief need to see her?

"Yes, Sir." Alexa stood up from her desk at her full height, her face being level with the daunting man's shoulders as she silently walked behind him to his office. She noticed the worried expressions her colleagues gave her, but she ignored them. She raked her fingers through her chin-length blonde bangs and short cropped hair, looking thoughtful and slightly annoyed as she tried to think of a suitable reason for Chief Dawson wanting her, but straightened up when she reached his office door.

Alexa waited until the chief sat down before she even dared to walk up to his desk to speak to him. "You wanted to see me, Sir?"

Dawson started flipping through some paper work as the woman entered his office. When she spoke, he looked up for only a moment before turning back to the papers before him. He seemed upset about what he was reading, but then again he always looked discontent. After a few moments, he sighed, put the papers aside and indicated she should sit down.

“Yes, I did Ms Stark,” he nodded and sipped his coffee before continuing. “As you know, the Yorktown PD is an exceptionally skilled group. Of course, our training rarely seems needed—thankfully.”

Another pause as he took a long sip from his mug. Putting it down, he stroked his chin. Contemplating what to say next, he exhaled and stood up. Walking over to the door, he shut it. Turning around, he slowly made his way back to his chair before sitting into it. As usual, when the chief has something to say, he took his time with saying it.

“We’ve recently had some... issues, however. You may be aware of this, but there have been a few murders over the past several months.”

It was hard not to know about them. However, all of them seemed to be robberies gone awry. A few, however, were without motives. Either way, the dozen of deaths over the last few months had not really raised many eyebrows. Dawson however seemed to be indicating there was something important about them.

“To put it bluntly, we think that they are connected somehow. The thing is, no one I’ve brought this too has seemed to piece it all together.” Leaning back, he stared at his officer with a somewhat uncertain feeling to him. “I’d like you to look into it. You passed with high marks, and you’ve been an immense help even with the boring stuff.”

He tried not to make it sound like it was a reward, but it ended up coming across as that anyway. It may have been the excitement Alexa was looking for, but that did not make it a happy time. It was hard to be happy about murders. Speaking of those murders, he slid across a folder to the woman. Inside were the details of each death. There were a variety of ages and an almost even gender ratio. Each person killed was, bluntly, unimportant. No politicians or wealthy businessmen. No heiresses or people with enemies. It seemed like a serial killer who just killed whoever they felt like.

The important thing, however, was a page on a man named Linus Jensen, a name she may have been familiar with. He was identified as an informant, usually helping out on small time burglaries and auto theft. Despite the cities sterling reputation and lack of big crime, there was still a small underground and a few small time thugs trying to make a living under the radar. People like Linus kept them from getting too big. This time, however, he had come forward with some information on the murders. It seemed that he wanted to be rewarded in a large way, however.

“I’m sure you can understand what I expect. He’s going to be hanging around with his boys near the old port area,” he explained after she finished reading. “I’d like you to show up and arrest him specifically. They aren’t doing anything, so you can make up some bogus charge. It’ll scare the others from staying around. Then get him to spill the beans on this killer.”

Another sip from the mug, as he kept his dull, grey eyes leveled at the woman.

Alexa sat down as she was instructed, her feet flat, knees together, and her hands resting upon them. Although she was still considered green in the force, she could tell that something was bothering the chief. He was dawdling, and it was irritating her. She wished that he would spit out whatever it was already, but thankfully, she did not voice that opinion.

She picked up the folder passed to her, opening it and quickly glancing over the reports. She looked up again when Dawson mentioned Linus Jensen, closing the folder and resting it in her lap.

“Yes, Sir.” Alexa replied with a single nod of her head. She started to stand when she noticed the way the chief stared at her. It made her slightly uneasy, though she was not sure if it was because she felt that he was possibly keeping something from her, or if it was simply the fact that he was her superior. She stood beside her seat, holding the folder in front of her with both hands and her eyes settled on Dawson. “Is that all, Sir?”

(I'm sorry. I would've replied sooner.)
