[ 1v1 ] Let's have a training montage. (Kettil & Riley)

[Pales]

Kettil was at the gym and when he wasn't at the gym, he was outside the gym. Today he was inside the gym making use of some of the equipment made available there.

Weights. Punching bags. Whatever he had access to he was using it. Except it didn't seem to be putting an end to his stamina anytime soon.

Sure he was covered in sweat, he was panting but for the most part? Kettil was energetic. A brief pause caused Endzela to swoop down and land on a piece of equipment nearby

"Maybe a sparring partner?" The Owl suggested.

Kettil responded with a soft humming sound.  

[Nio Love]

Riley had only just snuck in at the tail end of Kettil's conversation with his owl, but it was the perfect moment. She seemed to be his wish fulfilled - walking over to look at the owl that perched on the equipment thoughtfully.

I don't recall ever fighting a reaper with a familiar. She murmured. She might have done so before her death, but certainly not after. Would you like to play?

She recognized him from her Fitness Club. This only meant good things.

Kettil knew Riley for various reasons. She was one of the people that ran Fitness, she was the former council president, and he'd done her a favor (but failed miserably at it toward the end).

He gave her a bit of a grin, "Her name is Endzela, she was with us when we went after a thing a while back."

It was only a little bit ago but he didn't expect her to recall him since they didn't interact that often.

Endzela gave a small bird-like bow with wings spread wide, "Pleasure to see you."

After that was done he clapped his hands together in an excited fashion, "Think that'd be awesome! Seems boring just trainin' up by my lonesome!"

He took a defensive stance, "Whenever you're ready!"

I remember. She nodded. I didn't get the chance to fight against her, and you, however. Let's rectify that.

She crouched, taking a long moment to read his stance. Strong arms. That was the first thing she noticed - likely from carrying an owl around. Best not to get too close. But how would the owl change gameplay, she wondered?

Best to test it out carefully, first. She lunged forward, aiming for Kettil but falling just short of slicing at him with her claws.

Kettil was getting ready to block the incoming attack until she stopped just short, "Ah, c'mon. I didn't think you were serious about the play part," Kettil replied in a playful tone.

With a short whistle there was soon a Familiar fluttering in front of Riley's face in an attempt to keep her distracted from where Kettil was currently bouncing off to.

One side? The other side? Was he still in front of her?

A distraction technique. That was a clever way to use a familiar. Riley carefully locked the information away, and then tried to brush the familiar away. When that did not work, she simply lashed out blindly, trying to find the boil who was so quick to disappear. Her hands reached out, and found nothing, over and over.

Dutifully Endzela didn't seem to let up at least not until she saw her Reaper had crouched down near Riley and then swept out a leg to try to unsettle her.

There was no warning from him as he did this.

Perhaps he felt that Riley needed to sit down and have a small rest.

A surprised sound left her as she tumbled to the ground, finally catching a glimpse of her attacker after he'd completed his sweep. She let out a sharp laugh, and hopped back up to her feet, giving him a friendly - if not really hard - punch to the chest.

Very, very clever. I like it.

He took the punch to the chest with a good natured grunt because it was too late for him to really dodge it. "I have my moments."

A moment that was quickly dissolved as he went to land a hit to Riley's midsection only to be reminded of her certain other qualities, this particular quality being a big hole in her midsection where he was punching at.

He did the only thing a upright young boil could think of doing mid-swing and turned it into a tackle as he launched himself at her with fist in the lead.

Kettil was not even apologetic about his mistake. Well...Maybe a little.

Riley looked down at the fist that went through the hole in her stomach, and then looked back up at Kettil, just in time to see him flying at her. She caught him, but still went down, hitting the ground hard. When she looked up at him again, her eyes were slit thin.

Ah. Kettil. I know we're sparring, but I just don't think we're that close yet.

She reached down and took his hand out of the hole in her chest, then patted him on the shoulder, before her leg was between his and he was flying over both their heads to tumble off of her.

Kettil went flying mostly because he was ingesting the words that Riley had said to him. It managed to catch him off guard and once he landed flat on his back he didn't move for a moment except to raise a hand to point at the ceiling.

"An anatomical miscalculation, Ma'am. Won't happen again," he assured with a grin that almost seemed a bit goofy, probably because he was trying to deal with having a bit of the wind knocked out of him amongst other things.

His body curled toward the side and suddenly Endzela was flying at Riley's face, talons intent on doing a bit of damage. Apparently the hand signal was a sign and not just a gesture of declaration.

Tricky.

Riley stood up, amused at his reaction, until the owl flung itself at her face, and started scratching. Her eyes closed instantly to protect them from damage, and her hands reached out, trying to grab the owl. She clamped down, and pulled it away, holding it in both hands while she opened her eyes and lunged forward at Kettil. She let go of Endzela just in time to drop down onto his prone body with her side, hard.

She took fighting seriously.

Endzela let out some rather furious screeches once captured and then tossed aside. She managed to tumble with minimal damage to herself though Kettil was flinching more than she was.

Then there was Riley who saw fit to take advantage of his prone form.

"Been watching some wrestling shows?" He gasped out as he gave her a hard push to get her off of him so he could get up.

Riley laughed as she was pushed off, rolling away a few times before stopping to lay on her back. No, not really. She answered. Perhaps the wrestling shows have been watching me.

She pushed herself up, back to her feet, and rolled her shoulders, before cracking her neck. Crouching back into defensive position, she urged him forward.

"If not, they probably should be." Once on his feet Kettil dusted himself off and adjusted his stance as he watched Riley a little ways away from him. He was trying to see if he could find holes in her defenses.

Well, other than the one obvious hole, but everyone's made that joke by now.

After a few second Kettil ran at Riley with his arm out to one side with an intent to clothesline her.
