He did not hate life, but right now he really, really, REALLY disliked it.
It was all, of course, thanks in no small part to their apparently now missing priestess, who had disappeared the moment they had all been taken in by the bogeymen.
Taken in by the bogeymen. Just the phrase alone sent shivers of disgust down Mengyao's spine. He had not asked for this, he had not ever asked to be treated as one of the lowly citizens of Halloween Town, and yet here he was, stuck pretending like he was a part of them.
It was outrageous. Preposterous.
And yet here he was.
He supposed he could have been grateful, though the idea of being indebted to anyone was beyond Mengyao's capability. He spent the better part of his morning arguing with himself over the possibility of bringing Lifen along with him, remembered that he was studiously trying to avoid her for obvious reasons, and thought better of it.
Perhaps Lan - no, she would just make fun of him, and it was not as though Mengyao had many male friends to consider bringing along. He was, sadly enough, severely lacking in any sort of relationships outside of the ones he already had.
Not that this had ever been a problem or a hindrance to Mengyao before, but lately it had cropped up more and it was rapidly becoming more obvious just how dependent he was on certain people. Certain people whom he was trying not think about at the current moment, but certain people nonetheless. And a part of Mengyao cared that he had little people to attend to.
And then another part, a bigger part, did not really care at all. He was Mengyao Miao, a noble horseman of Conquest. He did not have to submit himself to the whims of others, nor should he feel obligated to do so.
Unless, of course, Medea had caused problems like she had lately. How anyone could even trust that conniving, sweetly manipulative priestess was beyond him, but it seemed they were all in trouble now, thank you Medea.
Mengyao stomped (gracefully) off to act like he cared when really he didn't.

He was so close he could taste it.
Of course, it would only be natural for him now, to get to the end and fail miserably because that was just his luck.
Thankfully, however, despite Mengyao getting into a load of trouble near the end, he managed to get to the end of the disastrous road without too much hassle; though he dearly wished it had not involved getting so filthy. Perhaps he could go and see Senga, then it would not be half as bad if he could manage to shove some dirt down the colt's throat. He supposed it was childish, but his recent relationship with the horseman of War had rapidly deteriorated into something hardly salvageable, and so, he had decided, why try? He was not going to attempt to fix something that was neither broken, nor about to break.
It was merely the way things were.
This so-called class, as Mengyao was hesitant to call it, had not exactly given him the satisfaction he wanted, mostly because it was still grating on his nerves that he was being forced to act like a citizen of a place which made him disgusted. Not for the first time since arriving, he wished for the beautiful golden towers of the Isle of Conquest -
- and then was rudely reminded that such a place no longer existed.
Mengyao stomped off back to his current residence to get cleaned up.
