Rockets and robots can save your life. ¦ΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞ¦
Hello. I'm new to the guild and very happy to be here, especially since there's a parenting forum here. I'm a new mother and I don't really have anyone to go to for opinions on certain things. Such as diapers.
My daughter is four months old and wears a size 1. I've tried pretty much all the name brand diapers and we haven't run into any trouble like rashes or redness from them. And I've found that one brand is as likely as another to leak or blowout. The real problem lies in the pricetag. sweatdrop Even on sale, most of the time, the name brands are just too expensive.
So I'm asking for opinions on store brand/generic diapers. Have you ever tried any? What were your experiences with them?

I heard that Costco sell cheap diapers.
I don't have kids so... XD... Hee... That's all what I can say.

I have two children and i have gone through every single type of nappies you can think of from cheap to super expensive and all have a risk of leakage and none are fool proof.
I now use the tesco or super drug nappys 48x2 for £10 or 2 for £12 if i use the superdrug ones rather than pampers and stuff like that.
I actually find the huggies and pampers leak more than the cheaper versions.

Thank you for replying. ^_^
The only downside to Costco is that there isn't one around here. Which is sad, I'd love to go and have a look around. sweatdrop
And leakage isn't so much the issue as redness and rashes. Her great-great grandmother bought her some Dollar General brand diapers and they made her so red. :c
But I'm happy with the input so far, keep it coming. biggrin

I've been blessed to neve have a blow out, and I'm always on top of diaper changes. The cheapest I use are Luvs and Parents Choice (wal-mart), both work fine. I haven't had any rashes or bumps develop with them. If you do see any redness let the little one air out for a few minutes after getting wiped, then put some rash cream on it, then bundle them up.
I've also used cloth diapers, and the all-in-ones work well. I prefer using them in winter, keeps the little bums extra warm. 3nodding

Avaricious Koko I've also used cloth diapers, and the all-in-ones work well. I prefer using them in winter, keeps the little bums extra warm. 3nodding I was about to suggest cloth. The initial cost is a little pricey, but in the long run, much cheaper. If you can get over the ickyness of it, it's worth it. But since you're already changing a dirty diaper, it's not that different.

If I go out on errands, or take him to a playdate, I use disposable. Less chance of a leak from a liner that's wiggled out of place. I really don't like making messes in a place that isn't my home. 3nodding

Walmart is the closest store to me, so that is where we go for diapers and normally we buy Pampers. Luvs are alright... but they leak easily, especially if your onesie is a little tight in that area.

Ah, I'd been reluctant to try Luvs based on some reviews (On the actual Luvs website, no less.), but I had some from my baby shower and used them and I liked them a lot. I haven't tried the Parent's Choice diapers yet, though the wipes are okay. So I'll definitely consider trying a bag.
Cloth diapers, I'm on the fence about. I feel like after you factor in the price of laundry detergent and energy and water used for the extra loads of laundry, I'm not really sure if the savings are there. Especially right now since it's about time for the energy bill to go up in price. :c

With Parents Choice we found that we had to wake up in the middle of the night to change Jace's diapers or he would be one big ol' wet mess in the morning. NOT WORTH IT.

Aww, that's disappointing, but thanks for letting me know.
My daughter doesn't really sleep through the night all that much, but when she does, it's a blessing, so I'd rather not ruin it.
