Its not just teen divas its society too.

Its not always genetics but I don't believe it is ever right to call someone a name that will hurt their feelings. People need to learn to step into other people's shoes for a change.

I know I'm totally overreacting, and you probably didn't mean it that way, but reading that was like a punch to the gut. You say they have no right to call people fat, but basically went around and did the same thing with reverse terms. I was called anorexic because of my weight in elementry school, and been often told to "eat something" so this is real sore spot for me. I'm underweight, and I know that. There isn't much I can do about it... and it hurts to read things like that. It goes both ways.

It's awful, no matter the person's weight or size, if someone attacks them for it.

It's just a cheap jab, but to some people it can mean so much.

It's so stupid. People always say, "You're so skinny, haha, you have no boobs!" or "Go eat a burger!" or even "You don't eat at all, do you? What do you have, one cookie and you're done?" It makes me so upset. And it's like, because people always comment on the skinny-ness of my body, I always notice if I even have the tiniest bit of weight gain. My weight is pretty constant, though. Yes, I'm eighteen and I weigh around 100 pounds. That doesn't give anyone the right to accuse me of having an eating disorder because of it. I don't rag at heavier set people for being that way. I don't tell them to stop eating, because food probably isn't even the issue. I get so angry when people always go on about how mean it is to be cruel/judgemental to overweight people yet they thing it's perfectly okay to be that way towards a skinny person. It's like, "Oh, they're skinny, they have no insecurities because they don't weigh much." I don't mean to go on a tirade, but it makes me so upset when people act like it's okay to be that way towards skinny people because they're skinny. Judging anyone because of their weight is a stupid, petty thing to do.

Plus, so few people will stand up for thinner people because they are 'favoured by society' or whatever. The only people who ever stood up for me were my very closest friends, however almost everyone made a fuss if one person made a fat joke.

The same thing happens though if someone makes a racial comment towards a white person, or a girl makes a sexist comment towards a guy. Just because they're not usually getting the hate, no one says anything. I'm absolutely sick of this attitude. No one talks about it though.

My best friend was reduced to tears because of that kind of behaviour, she got it worse than I did because she was even thinner than me, and she's even more sensitive than I am so you can only imagine how hard it was for her. Plus, so few people will stand up for thinner people because they are 'favoured by society' or whatever. The only people who ever stood up for me were my very closest friends, however almost everyone made a fuss if one person made a fat joke.

I think the fact I've got IBS worries him a little, especially since my sister recently discovered she has Crohn's.
I remember in my gym class last year I discovered I have 7% percent body fat and everyone freaked out at that. I don't like to weigh myself either, I'm pretty weight conscious. Yeah, nobody cares if someone makes a racial comment towards a white person. But then again, that's just in my area where it's very racially diverse, and people know how to laugh it off. Ugh. Don't even get me started on sexism in general.

I've even heard people say things like "You can't be racist to white people, it doesn't work that way" ... What the heck does that mean? While racially-charged insults against someone who is White hurts on an individual basis, it can't hurt them on an institutional level the way it does to racial minorities.

Of course, none of this would even be an issue if people would just stop irrationally hating on each other for asinine reasons like race, gender, sexual orientation, body size, etc., etc., but alas.

Actually, this makes sense, and you're right. We were discussing this in my sociology class, but not too in depth. I got bored because my prof was ragging about sick days. xD

Ah ha, my Sociology professor covered it too while discussing racial power structures. You can't zone out during his class because if he isn't making you laugh, he's making you feel as uncomfortable as possible. xD

Well, then it depends on where you are in the world, because though in North America that would apply, in non-white dominate societies you could be racist towards a white person. Particular to the city where I live, everyone is a minority, because I'm in a multicultural hot spot.

Edit: Actually, this reminds me. I had a teacher for a short while in grade 3 (before they put me in a different class) who failed anyone who wasn't black. Since she was in a position of power above the students, doesn't that make her racist? So wasn't she being racist against the white students in the class?
Also, the principle changed everyone's grades after the fact, and the teacher lost her job (obviously) but that goes to show one can be racist towards white people... it's just rare.
