OOC [ Task of Death: ] The ReapingThis task can be performed SOLO. However, it is recommended to have at least another player. You can do this with a max of three players. They may go anywhere in the Human World using the portal catacombs in the Lair. These catacombs lead to small human world towns only. All players must follow these steps to successfully harvest Fear from death.
gaia_crown [ Step 1: ]
- You reach a quiet town, and the first thing you see is a funeral procession. There is death heavy in the air, but not quite enough for a proper reaping. You will need to create more death.
All humans have 10 HP. The CAN be npced.
- Simply select a human target. If you have two players, you can BOTH attack the target until they die. If three, all three of you attack the target until they die. Use proper dice mechanics (battle dice mechanics), Fear charges CAN be used. - All humans do +4 auto damage, if you are a Death clans member they only do +3 and Death clans members get a +2 attack modifier - HOW IT WORKS: I am a stage 1 horseman. I roll 2d8 and get 4, 5. That means I do 9-8 modifier = 1 damage to the human. That human now has 9 HP. My partner then rolls 2d8 -8 and gets a final damage result of 8. The human is now DYING. Our group has TAKEN DOWN ONE human. We can now target another - Make sure to post in your OOC Tally at the bottom of each post which human number you are on and their current HP as well as how many humans your group has taken down. - When your group has killed AT LEAST 2 humans you can move on to the next phase. You can only take down a MAX of 4.
gaia_crown [ Step 2: ]
- Now it is time to reap, aka, harvest the humans. The atmosphere is just as important as the (dying) human itself, and while it may be nice to gain some additional Fear for Halloween, you have no love for Halloween, and really, there is no reason to add to the ghost population. You are going to do a mock reaping, without fully completing it. You are only harvesting the Fear before the human is entirely passed away.
Roll a 4-sided dice If odd, you harvest 1 Fear point from the body. If even, you harvest 2. You continue to watch and reap in their Fear until they are dead. It is up to you if you want to burn/ destroy/ send off /bury the body or just leave it. - You must do this for EACH victim (per player) you harvest. The Fear amount is different harvested, as it sometimes depends on what the human is exactly going through in their death throes. All humans are npcable/ you can rp/ gm them. Ie: I am player one and we killed three humans. I will roll for human 1, and I roll a 4. 4 = even. I get 2 Fear points. I watch them die. I do this again for human 2, etc etc.

The sun did little to warm where its feeble rays graced the earth, and Soren was immensely grateful for the fur that warmed his back. That, and the undershirt, over-shirt, pants, boots, and fur-lined gauntlets. The cold was not something that was exactly enjoyable, but it was something he was well used to. It was such a small encampment that was huddled ahead of him, so far north that it never truly thawed. And lingering in the air was the hint of death.
Even one life lost in such a place was significant as there were so few that resided there. So knowing that he would be causing more death, reaping the Fear from the act of killing and from the few survivors that they might leave had a smile on the guardian's face. He sat upon his mount, a massive creation that matched his own bulk, and looked down at his partner for this task. Perhaps it was odd that he was here with a noblewoman from Conquest, but he had been on missions with her before, and she was strong, more than able to hold her own weight, more really considering how slight she was compared to him.
"Should we go in mounted or on foot?" he rumbled, a flash of blood lust in his eyes. He was fine with her leading, though he was capable of taking the lead if she preferred it that way. So long as he got to destroy some humans he was really rather flexible.

Compared to Soren, Lan was very much unused to the cold. Silks did only so much, and even with the fur cloak she'd brought along, the horsewoman couldn't completely suppress a shiver as the winds picked up, sending gold hair dancing around her. The white and red mare she rode on showed just as much distaste of the show as she, hooves shuffling before a small hand reached out, running along the mare's neck.
Tightening the fur around her she looked to the fading prints of humans heading to the west. "Mounted. Higher range of sight and we won't have to trudge through the snow." No, but their mounts would. "If they begin to drain us we'll simply begin the rest on foot, but it shouldn't be a problem." A snap of the reins, the horse began a slight trot, edging closer to- Gold eyes flicked to Soren and then the body being mounted on what looked to be a funeral pyre. A look to her self and- "Well I'm not rather intimidating for this now am I?" Fine silks and a fur cloak she looked more the part of well, a noble. "I will set the stage, and you can show them what true death looks like hm?"
Bow summoned, the arrow was notched and sent skyward landing in some man's shoulder, sending him half falling into the flames of the torches dotting the area.

Soren gave his mount a light bit of pressure with his knees and it moved forward, bouncing him as it moved into a trot. Not the smoothest of trots for the large horse but its stride was long and he followed the horsewoman easily. He rather ignored her comment about being intimidating. Perhaps she did not appear intimidating at first glance, but looks were easily deceiving. He would not mistake her silks for weakness.
"At your signal," he murmured. His knees squeezed together again, his heels nudging his mount and it went thundering forward, hooves kicking up snow as the arrow struck. The first screams and shouts of panic began and he smiled, left hand bunching in his mount's mane as his khopesh summoned in his outstretched right and he neared the knot of human prey.
His eyes were only trained on the one that Lan had marked though. Her arrow was a clear beacon for him and the fire glinted dully off of his blade before it struck, lopping the human's head off cleanly. He tugged back on his mount's mane, a simple and clear signal. It reared, hooves lashing out, purely for show as it snorted, breath turning into steaming fog as Fear began to leech into the human's hearts.

Soren nudged his mount, skirting the humans and riding back over to the noble. He remained calm, but his mount was snorting and pawing, reveling the way that his Fear was reacting, enjoying the terror. Wanting more. "Base instincts," he remarked, voice tinged with scorn. Still, the particular one that had caused the comment was rather obnoxious even for a screaming human.
Her suggestion was pleasing and he nodded before sliding off his mount easily, the Fear leeching back into him as he approached the human. It was trying to scramble up and flee when he reached down for his collar, lifting him up to his tiptoes with ease as the man simultaneously blanched and continued to scream. His sword flashed out, the curved blade separating the clothing and flesh underneath with ease as the mans entrails began to spill from his body. His blood at spurted out, a gooey mist decorating the horseman as he let him drop and stepped back, the man still clinging to life. "The honor is yours," he offered to the mare who had chosen this one to die. He had already had a kill, and he was willing to share. Or if she left it to die in agony that was perfectly fine with him, and she could choose the next target.
((IDK, example shows 1hp = dying? Up to you if you want to finish him))

Her aim was good, and he nodded appreciatively. He preferred to get down and dirty with his killing, enjoying the warm sprays of blood, but he knew it would not suit everyone. Just as attacking from a distance did not suit him. He looked up at her, and for once she could look down at him, and nodded. A cow then. Female. That was easy.
The one that caught his attention was slower than the rest, obviously slowed by the large bulge of her stomach. About to spawn. It would be a shame to destroy cattle that never had a chance to live, but then his eyes flicked downward. She had a child pulling at her hand, screaming already, sending out strong tendrils of Fear. A child felt most secure around its parents.
Killing an unborn would be worth the Fear they could reap from the child as well, and it would forever Fear their return. Worth it. Happily he went after her, knowing she could not see his approach, though the child managed to figure out that he was there. She screamed ever louder as he reached her mother, reaching out with his gauntlet, sinking his fingers into her neck and holding her in place to give the noble the time to take her aim and fire. Or she could spare it, he had not explained his reasoning after all.

Even though the humans were already dead, scurrying into hiding like insects, some sending for sprays of useless ammunition, the longer Soren was there, absorbing Fear, the angrier he felt. It was a deep, seething rage, resting in the core of his being, but for now he tried to keep it under wraps to focus on the task at hand.
He only managed a curt nod, not fully trusting himself to speak as he moved on to the next corpse. The Fear lingered and he pulled it toward him, letting it wash over his fragment. Red eyes moving up to look at Lan's. He wanted to kill more. He wanted revenge. He had to hold back, they had a mission, now was not the time.

She didn't pick up anger from her companion, only that he was doing what he was supposed to do. But as she took some the fear for herself she caught the fury in his eyes, the unstated bloodlust. She knew anger, but, she thought he'd been calm.
That was anything but the look of a calm horseman. She returned his look of anger with one of authority. "Finish taking the fear, and then let us return. Wasting our power here and not on hunters is a fruitless endeavor." She nudged her mare towards another dying human, away from Soren. As much as her rank allowed her, if he disobeyed, or challenged her she didn't have the power to fight him off. Battle she knew, but she was smaller and as loath as she was to admit, their attacks did take something from her and left her weaker.

The suggestion that they return and not continue to decimate the humans, to not seek out hunters and extract their revenge, caused his lip to curl. But at least she said to take Fear. He stalked over to the last carcass, ripping Fear from it with a low rumble building in his chest, trying to keep a lid on his anger. His need for revenge.
The area had been bleeding colors, warping the reality that he saw, but now he was beginning to feel ill. But there was something that could cure him. Something he could do.
Get revenge.
For some reason he could not focus his Fear to summon his mount, and without waiting for Lan he began stalking, steps faltering ever so slightly toward the portal. He would go back, yes. But he was going to find a hunter after that.
