Scarefari Zone Field Trip
The bus ran in a long, loping motion, quickly leaving Amityville and Halloween Town behind. Scenery passed in a blur, but still no explanation as to the purpose of their trip. And then finally, Professor Walker stood up at the front of the bus.
"Students," he began, in that soft, raspy voice that captivated rather than demanded attention. "And Malcom." An inscrutable glance at the other professor who had put his name on the list.
"Let me offer my thanks for participating in this trip. As you are aware, we are going to be arriving at the Scarefari zone shortly. Most of you know it as a place inhabited by wild minipets which can be caught and tamed, but that is due to the work of scarefari wardens, myself included, who watch the borders and keep the larger creatures from becoming a threat.
"However, twice a year there is a period of time in which many of these large creatures migrate, and pose a safety risk for the civilians who travel into the Scarefari zone. It is a taxing, dangerous time for wardens, and this is why the Board of Wildlife Management has permitted me to recruit capable students to assist in the capture and relocation of these large creatures."
The dragon paused, looking over the students, and Malcom, for a second before continuing. "During the course of this trip, your goal will be to locate one of these creatures, and tranquillize it so we can safely move it outside the Scarefari zone borders. You will each be provided with a pack of basic supplies, but as you will be on the move for much of your time, they are not burdened with shelter or many food supplies.
"Much of the selection is easy to understand, but of vital importance are the flares, and tranquillizer darts. You will be equipped with a red flare and a green flare. If you are in danger and require immediate assistance, the red flare will alert me to your location. If you succeed in capturing a creature, you may use the green flare and someone will arrive to pick it up for it's relocation.
"You will each be provided with a small dart gun. This is a self-loading device, all you need to do is weaken the creature and then fire. The darts are loaded with enough tranquillizer to put it to sleep so it may safely be moved." A world-weary look briefly crossed the professor's face. "Please refrain from shooting each other with these darts, we simply don't have the manpower to be dealing with dissipating students."
He glanced out the window, and the floppy ears mostly hidden by his dark hair twitched. "Ah, we have arrived."

Getting Set Up!As all the students disembarked, Professor Walker unloaded the supplies. One rough, leather pack for each student. "Please pick up a pack, and assemble into groups. If you have brought along items of your own, please only take what is necessary, anything else can be left with the bus." The bus yawned, slyly. "Once you are ready, you may head out into the field. Remember, if you are in immediate danger please use a red flare. I would not like to collect dead students after the fact." Always reassuring. OOC 1. Find a Group!Your students need to be in groups of three or four for this event. You may use this thread so they can grab their pack and ICly find some partners. If you don't have any partners in mind and want to be put into a group, feel free to make an OOC note at the bottom of your post and I'll put you somewhere. =3 2. Depart for Adventures! With your group together, you can now create a thread in the RP forum, with [FIELD TRIP PRP] in the title. This is where your battles and RP will take place. Please use the first post to keep track of your location and usable supplies, using the form below. Area: Supplies: Student1 - supply list~ Student2 - more supplies~ etc.
3. Take Inventory!Your students should familiarize themselves with the contents of their pack. These are the one-time use items, please list these in the form above. - 1 x Pumpkin Pill, use in battle or out of battle to restore all HP for one individual. - 2 x Freeze Dried Floresce Fillets, each packet can be used out of battle to restore 10 HP for one individual. - 1 x Green Flare, use out of battle to let the professor know you have succeeded in your mission! - 1 x Red Flare, use in or out of battle to call for professor assistance! *If your group contains at least one pair of students who have never met each other before, you may receive an extra something from the professor for your trip. These are other items contained in each backpack that can be used during your students' RP. You do not need to track these, it's assumed your student has these as long as they have their bag. - Matches in a small waterproof container. - One sleeping bag, lightweight but warm. - A tiny aluminum pot for cooking or boiling water. - A pocket knife. - A tarp, in one of several shades of muted green.

Rules of the Game!RPing This event is a freeform RP. This means it will be up to you and your group to determine how fast you want to go, how busy you want your students to be, and how quickly they reach their goal. Your students have been abandoned in the wild, with only your backpacks of supplies to help you survive, and your training. Roll with it. How does your group find shelter, how do they find food? How do they decide who the leader is? Do they go traipsing through the land shouting for giant monsters, or do they quietly look for clues and track one down on their own? Do they even know how to track something down? Are their natural forms a help or a hindrance? Even if your group completes your mission and catches a giant monster, it is up to you whether you go home right away, or stay longer in the wilderness. When you are ready to go back, Professor Walker will collect you. So as a RPer, take this opportunity to enjoy your character in this new setting! Please keep in mind, there are some things that are off limits: - Inappropriately extreme weather. Meadows are not going to get flash freezes, deserts are not going to get rained out. As a rule of thumb, keep any environmental disruptions to one IC day, don't have your students sitting in a cave until they starve. - Battles or hostile creature sightings aside from rolled events. Your students may see tracks of a giant monster, or other signs like mostly-eaten carcasses and piles of... yeah. But outside of GM intervention, they won't ever interact with the monster itself. However! They might see minipets, or small herbivores, or even use these small animals to their advantage. The carnivore in your group's gotta eat something! - Serious injuries. The only time your HP will go down, is when you are fighting in battles. Your student might suffer scrapes, bruises, hunger, dehydration, maybe even a twisted ankle, but it can be assumed they are capable of getting around on their own unless their actual HP says otherwise. That isn't to say they have to ENJOY the wilderness. Dice Dice rolls play an integral part in your adventure. Outside of battle, you have several dice at your disposal. 1d10 to determine where you are.Your group may roll the d10 at the start of the event, and then once every IRL week to change your location. Students merely find themselves on the edge of one area and head into the next. You may roll this dice ONLY if every member of your group has posted three times since the last roll. Here are the available areas: 1. Misty Fields, flat, humid and foggy, but not altogether unpleasant. 2. Dark Forest, thick, mossy trees and low light conditions. 3. Bloodstone Cliffs, grey and rocky, with pitted cliffs and occasional caverns. 4. Landdown Bog, very little solid ground, mostly foggy and filled with murky water. 5. Howling Karsts, rocky towers, extensive caves, pits and ravines carved by water. 6. Stormstruck Peaks, lots of rain, high wind, and rock. 7. Frozen Wastes, flat and barren, cold during the day and bonechilling at night. 8. Glass Sands, bright, shifting terrain with a hot, dry climate. 9. Southern Beaches, abundant sea life filling deep tidal pools at the sea's edge. 10. Cursed Tombyard, overgrown ruins of a city, long forgotten and left to rot. 1d8 to determine how successful you are at finding food.Your group may roll the d8 once every IRL day to find food. This is a sum of the group's ability to find food, not an individual effort. Add this to each student's HP, capping at the student's max HP. You may roll this dice ONLY if every member of your group has posted once since the last roll. 1d6 to determine what you find. You may roll the d6 once every IRL day to have an encounter. If odd, you run into a little monster you can battle, using standard battling rules here. Use the guidelines below for your interaction, it is up to your group to create/describe the monster, roll for it and calculate HP. We recommend rotating so everyone gets a chance. 1 - You have encountered a dog-sized dragon/wolf/cat! It's HP is 20, and it rolls 2d4 for attack each turn, no modifier. It attacks at the very beginning of a turn. 3 - You have encountered an ogre/troll/humanoid creature with an axe/club/big stick/etc! It's HP is 15, and it rolls 2d8 for attack each turn, with a -4 modifier. It attacks at the end of each turn. 5 - You have encountered something dead! It's HP is 10, and it rolls 2d10 with a -8 modifier. It attacks at the beginning of the turn. If this die is a 6, post in this field trip thread, "I HEAR SOMETHING BIG" and link to your group's RP thread. Giant Monsters When you find a giant monster, you will know. These battles run with all the same rules as a standard battle. You roll your dice to attack, you adjust your HP when your student is hit, etc. There is one big difference. With each turn, you will also be required to post your Position. Imagine the battle field like the face of a clock, with the monster in the center, and your available positions surrounding it. Every turn you can choose to remain in your current position, or move up to three places in either direction.Eg. Jove is startled by the monster, and finds himself at position 1 on the battlefield. During his next turn, he could remain at 1. Or he could decide to move, his available positions being clockwise to anywhere between 2 and 4, or counterclockwise to anywhere between 10 and 12. It would take him two turns to move to position 6. When you are moving, remember that monsters can't attack all directions all the time. Look at its behavior and find patterns you can use to keep your student alive! Once your monster's health is low, you can use a turn rolling a 1d10 to try catching it with a tranquilizer shot. If your roll is higher than the monster's HP, you have successfully hit the monster and put it to sleep. Send off a green flare to let the professor know your mission was a success!

(( I think I will need a group x DD Neil has been so anti Social I dont think ICly he knows many here))
The bus ride over all had been the standard one would come to expect from public transportation. Neil listened to his headphones with his eyes shut almost the entire course of the bus ride. Nothing all that exciting happened and he was alright with this. The bus came to a stop and the professor began to speak. Neil turned down his eye pod and listened in.
Groups?
Jack. He really didn't know anyone here all THAT well. Sure some he sort of knew but none were like his best friends or anything like that. The gimblewolf stayed silent and looked off else where feeling a little at loss. Neil wandered over to the packs and took one. The gimblewolf stared down at it and frowned before slinging it over his shoulder.

Gene had taken a back seat on the bus, a little nervous and dissatisfied. Danny was nowhere to be found, nor had she seen Frost. Normally, her customer service face would be up and she's be making new friends and being all pleasant like, but the recent Siege had shaken her.
When told they needed groups, Gene sighed. Well crap...time to find at least two partners.
Disembarking and taking a pack, she quickly took notice of a dog eared boil, looking about as lost as her. Yup, he needed a group.
Customer service face go.
"Hi! You looking for a group? I'm Gene." She held out her hand and gave him a warm smile, speaking with an air of cheer.
Jack, she was uncomfortable.

((Of course its okay o u o b)) One of Neils dogs ears twitched. He turned to face a ghostly ghoul smiling at him. He couldn't hid the surprise from his face. Usually his features remained quite stern but it was hard to hid the surprise and actual gratitude from his features. His red eyes had softened a bit. "Neil," He offered. He did not smile brightly like Gene but Neils tail did wag slightly. The canine had a hard time controlling the thing let alone the lack of ability to notice when it was wagging. "I am actually. Would you care to group with me?" With out meaning to the canine tilted his head ever to the side like that of a questioning puppy. Like the tail wagging, Neil didn't really realize he was giving off so many Canine like emotes. Maybe it was his nerves too but the boils grip tightened a bit on his pack. Anxiety maybe.

Gene's customer service face was quickly replaced with a genuine smile and warm eyes. She had a special spot in her heart for dogs, especially ones that made cute little puppy motions. It was a platonic feeling, of course, but she still found the boil's actions incredibly endearing.
She almost scratches that twitchy ear, putting her hand up to do so even. She stopped herself, and fixed the awkwardness of her hand by using it to fix her beret. In hindsight, a cap would have been better for this excursion...oh well.
"I would love to, Neil. I suppose we'll need someone else too, right?" She looked around, giving everyone a lost look. That would get them to come along, right? Right.

For the little puppy hopping off the bus, finding a group was the least of his worries. If the professor was talking about giant monsters, surely they weren't just being brought in to help round up minipets. Or fend off intrusive hunters. Jove would have been able to handle either of those, but regardless of the monster's actual size, "large" meant he was simply bite-sized.
Grabbing a pack, he dragged the thing to an empty spot of dirt a little ways away from the bus. He had fought large things before, and been all right. Right? So what if there were giant monsters out in the scarefari zone?
Jove fluffed himself up as big as possible, ears perking forward aggressively, tail poofed to it's maximum volume and curled up against his lower back. He was the most intimidating fluff in the scarefari zone, for sure! He would be fine! He just had to keep telling himself no monsters would eat him, and maybe if he tried real hard, he would start to believe it.

Ishild filed off the bus with the rest of the students, practically bouncing from a mix of nerves and anticipation. The ride from the school had been quite pleasant. The catbus reminded her a lot of the popo that pulled her family's sledges back home- although she'd never try to eat a catbus tongue. Mmm, popo tongue jerky. That was a happy thought and a nice change after Professor Walker's heart-stopping revelation about why they were actually there.
For a moment, she was transported back in time to that horrible instance. She could actually hear still hear the sound of screaming... no. No. She wasn't the same ghoul she was then, this was not the same situation as then. This was the whole reason why she'd come to Amityville, to be bigger and badder. Well, she had wanted a practical application for her skills, and this would be a perfect test to start out with.
Also, there was a signal flare. That was very very reassuring.
Hefting her pack, she surveyed her fellow students. This was actually very much like being in the caravan, minus having the sledges to haul around heavy stuff. Teamwork would be critical... but Ishild didn't recognize anyone. Who to approach about being in a group? Appearances could be deceiving, but she couldn't keep her eyes from being drawn to a rather determined looking poofball off to the side there. Minus the floof, he looked just like... Nope, not going down memory lane again.
At the very least, he had to be nimble. Yeah, sure. She'd go with that, and not a sudden upwelling of guilt and protective instincts. She tried to saunter over to Jove, hitting awkward rather than the nonchalant she was aiming for.
"Uhh.Wanna be in a group?" Manners, oh right, she had those. "... my name's Ishild."

Roch came out of the bus, yawning again as he listened to the professor. "Huh... group..." He grabbed the back he was offered and slung it over his bag before turning to Amphi. "Well... Riyo would be good," he told her. "But that makes us three hobs--I think I saw Danny's birdy ghoul on the bus, though, she would be good," he decided. "She can cook, somewhat! Yo! Riyo! Bird ghoul! You two here?" he yelled. Yes, he was so classy.

Obviously Riyo didn't want to leave the cat bus. Her face reflected longing, the desire to stay aboard her perfect idea of transportation... But alas, it was never meant to be.
Hopping off the oversized furball, the ghoul gave it one last pet before taking her own bag and walking out as she examined the goods inside. This was it? No tent? No real food? Just... This?
Really she should've expected less. It was a survival class, after all.
Oh, look. It was Roch. Calling her name. Momentarily the ghoul pondered adorning a fake mustache and posing as a man named Rio instead. Could she really stand being around him long-term?
And bird ghoul? Oh. Fantastic. Well if Riyo got hungry she could always use 'bird ghoul' and 'fish ghoul' as snacks.
"I'm here. No need to shout..." Best just go along with it for the prospect of rations.

So they were sort of herding here. Levi's family stuck to candy corn growing, but there were other families back home that dealt with the maintenance of livestock. Nodding to show she understood the parameters of their assignment today, Levi's nose twitched. A scent caught the ghouls nose that was different but delightfully fishy in flavor. Scanning about the bus, Levi couldn't quite place where it was coming from- she wasn't a tracker like Demi by far. If those around her happened to notice her particular shift into this trance, it was this new scent that had caused it. Maybe someone had brought something delicious for lunch? Curiosity was getting the best of her. When it became clear that they'd arrived by mention of the Professor, Levi slinked out of her seat sneakily, passing through the seats low and with her tail snaking behind her. There it was. A rather small ghoul with scaly skin and orangey hair. It, in fact, wasn't a lunch or object that carried the scent Levi was looking for- it was the ghoul herself. Levi continued to move by the seat where the fishy ghoul sat, but not before taking a whiff by the ghoul's shoulder that might have been a bit close for comfort. Her tail clearly displayed she was happy to collect this aroma, but when Levi realized where she was and what she was doing to one of her peers, her ears shot up in attention and she continued on down the aisle after apologizing. Whoops! Sorry'bout that, sweetnes- uh... ghoulie! Looks like it's time ta'head'on out! With an awkward wave to couple her words, the tatzel exited the bus, quickly looking for the wrath demon and weremantis. Guns n' gettin' rough with some big'ol critters. Sounds good ta'me! Ya ready?ramenli Yin with a gun : D perfect! cheshire (f OwO)f Hi Gilly. You smell scrumptious~

Jove's fluffed up appearance settled slightly as he noticed an unfamiliar student approaching. At first he didn't realize it was a ghoul, not with those long fang-like tusks, slightly awkward saunter, and close-cropped spiked hair. A very tomboyish ghoul maybe? That was fine with the pup, a ghoul who wasn''t all dresses and soft curves was probably less likely to give him cooties by accident.
He made no secret of his close observation, but it merely that. Not an examination, or scrutiny, he was just looking up at her with that wide-eyed manner children were often capable of.
But once introductions were done on Ishild's end, the pup nodded. It was the same as when he met Seiji, standing next to a tall, tough-looking student made him feel safer. Even if this one was so new he had yet to even catch sight of her in the halls.
Manners, he had them too. "Jove," he replied, a slight accent to his soft, barely audible tone. Then he held out a hand to shake.

Riley was sitting at the back of the bus, and she was disturbingly quiet. There were faces, and voices, that she did not recognize - but she did not feel alone, exactly. Just.. displaced. As if she could have known them, and therefore they did not feel uncomfortable with her presence. She was used to people being uncomfortable around her.
She was not used to this.
As they exited the bus, she caught wind of the feline featured ghoul sniffing the ghoul with fishlike characteristics. There was no cause for alarm, but since Riley was alone anyway, she made it a point to take the hand of the ghoul and pull her away from the feline. Come. You will be my partner. She announced, without any real question to the matter. She was small, quiet, and looked like she would cause no debate.
She was clearly the perfect match.
We need others before we can venture forward. She mused, more to herself than to Gilly. At least one, but not more than two. Is there anyone in this crowd you wish to collaborate with?
It was all business, for the mindflayer.Quote: We still need 2 more if anyone wants to join with us~
