Malcolm's breeding projects had been largely successful; however, there was one that went... Well, terribly wrong. While the Creeping Shrubbery minipet started off as a normal-sized minipet like the rest of its litter, it somehow got into a batch of special "experimental" speed-growth Fear Candy, and had mutated into some sort of a giant Creeping Shrubbery not-so-minipet.
While not exactly hostile or dangerous, it caused the professor some headache; since it had been relocated to his private Minipet Reserve, the not-so-minipet had been trampling and squishing the minipets in its path... On accident.
It might also be destroying some foliage, among other things.
Therefore, the idea of recruiting students to help with his "problem" sounded like a good solution. He would get the Creeping Shrubbery back to minipet size, and the students who helped would get promoted from Knob to Hob status. After the students had arrived, he explained the situation, and then led them to the back of the class, where two frying pans were on top of a stove that had been placed on two separate desks. Each desk was filled with bowls of ingredients.
"So, your first task is to make as many 'counter' Fear Candies as you can," He held up a small, round purple pill, "Basically, I have prepared 3 batches of ingredients for each of you, with each batch on a separate tray. Just add the prepared ingredients together, cook on medium heat until it turns purple and firm, divide the mixture into five parts, and roll each part into a pill. Once off the pan, it will start to harden, so do it quick... The rolling process is very important! If you don't do it fast enough, it will ruin the candy."
Exam Mechanics -> You start off with enough ingredients to make 3 batches of Fear Candies. -> Each batch can wield up to 3 Fear Candy. -> So, Fear Candy-wise, the maximum you can get = 9 , the minimum = 0. -> Don't define the ingredients, just toss them in, k. There are 4 different bowls/ingredients together.
Mixing a Batch: 1d10 ICly, just RP your character dumping all the ingredients into the pan, cooking/stirring it, and turning the heat off when the mixture turn purple. It feels a little sticky/semi-solid to the touch, and will harden/solidify/become not-sticky as it cools down. Odd : Cooked well! Move onto next part! Even : Failed batch! Discard the mixture; if you have another batch left, redo!
Rolling a Batch: 1d20 ICly, your character had divided the mixture up, and is rolling each part into a Fear Candy. Remember, each Batch has 3 parts! Odd : Success! Even : Failure!

It was time. Shun wasn't sure what to expect of this exam. The last time he had an exam with Malcom, he had to fetch bits of paper from invisible dogs. He could only assume that things would be more difficult this time around, seeing how it was a higher level of testing. Regardless, he was determined to do his best with this. It was, in the very least, a way for him to gauge how much he had improved. If at all.
Making his way into the examination room, thankfully not getting himself mixed up on the room numbers and whatnot, he noticed that there were no others in here right now. If others were taking an exam as well, they would no doubt show up soon.
In any case, he listened carefully to the instructions, raising an eyebrow as it involved a bit of cooking in a sense. Well, he was capable of cooking basic things. As long as he had the instructions, it shouldn't be too hard. Even so, he had to wonder what these fear candies were needed for. Malcom had referred to them as 'counter' candies after all. Stepping up towards the table, he looked over the various ingredients laid out. There wasn't too much here, so most likely there weren't going to be many others showing up.
Shrugging, he decided to not dally about and went ahead and took one set of ingredients and started to mix them up in the bowl one by one. It was simple enough. He stirred it carefully, waiting for the mixture to turn purple and for it to reach the correct consistency.

Once the mixture was all set, Shun took the dough(?) out to begin rolling it into three separate balls. It was still rather warm, so it was kind of sticky. Even so, he did what he could to get the three parts set up. Furrowing his brow, he noticed that one of the balls was considerably bigger than the other two pieces. Frowning, he pushed them back together into one large wad to try again.

Having been summoned for her exam, Mei made haste for the classroom she was to take it in. She wasn't at all sure what to expect, not when everyone had gone through so many kinds of exams..and to make it more interesting, this was for knobs only. Hopefully it would be nothing dangerous like last time. As much fun as that sled ride could have been, she was now downright terrified of ever going near a sled again.
Arriving in the room, the doll noticed there was only one other student there at the time. She has seen him about the school more than once, but had never really talked to the boil before. Gesturing with a small wave, she then awaited further instructions.
Cooking..they would be..cooking. Well damn..this was definitely not one of her best abilities, as she had no need to learn how to make food.
Shrugging it off, she set to work.

Yes..cooking was not something she could claim to be good at. Within seconds of mixing the ingredients, she could already smell the foul odor of her mistake, and quickly discarded it. Well..that went well.
Waving the smell clear of her face, she began on her second batch. Hopefully she would learn from her mistakes this time around..

While Shun got the dough ready to try again, he glanced to the side as he spotted another student come on in. He had seen her around here and there before but he wasn't really familiar with her all too well. Quietly, he nodded to her in acknowledgement, then went to focus on rolling the candy up once more. This time around, one piece was notably smaller than the other two.
With a frown, he mashed it back together to try once more.

Getting this in even parts was trickier than Shun could have expected. This time around, the tried to carefully measure out each chunk before rolling it out. But yet again, it was to no avail. And by now, the mixture had cooled and hardened into a lumpy mess.
Letting out a sigh, he tossed it and went to try again.

With this batch more of a success, it was now time to start focusing on rolling the batches into pills. He sure wasn't kidding when he said they would have to be fast about this. Jackdamn! she would be lucky if she got even one out of it.

Her first attempt at rolling was a success, but her second..was not. Making a face, she moved to try again. If this next one didn't work, then it was on to the last batch she supposed..

Rolling the last remains of the batch, Mei looked over her work. Out of the two batches she had gone through..she had made two candies only. This..was disgraceful. Near ready to smack her head off the wall, Mei moved to prepare the ingredients for the last batch.

When moving onto her third and final batch, things were going well at first, but eventually spiraled into disaster. She wasn't quite sure what went wrong, but it definitely went wrong. Cringing at her large mistake, she removed the batch again, and turned to Malcom. Rubbing her neck lightly, she held up the pitiful number of candies for him.
"Cooking..isn't a talent I possess, unfortunately." Loosing a weak laugh, she mentally smacked herself on the head. Well..at least she didn't fly off a huge ice slide.

Unable to work with his last batch any further, Shun tossed out the previous one before getting started with a second batch. However, things didn't really go too well for him here. He heated it for a little too long, and it ruined the batch as a whole. Cursing lowly to himself, he tossed out the mixture.
