Roch had gotten himself a hamper lunchbox. It was as tall as his back and had straps like a backpack. It was ALMOST big enough, he had decided as he bought it at wallow-mart, but it would have to make do for his lunch on the grass. There was even a black and red picnic blanket hanging out of the mouth of the hamper, all ready for a nice little lunch!

Okay, so he had sort of gotten banned from the cafeteria after the whole cycorgi incident, that was NOT his fault, you know! It was Pitchy's! And what was worse? The pup still had the mic as a chew toy--

As he was mentally ranting and walking along, he didn't realize the smell of food was lingering behind him, calling attention to anyone that could smell.

Cady's yummysenses were tingling..

She wasn't sure what it was yet, but it smelled delicious. And the smell was strong enough that it promised the possibility of large quantities. Or something odious and pungent. Either way, the always-hungry ghoul saw it as a clear win/win. She was just on her way out to the gym for a work out, but she could use a snack to get her through, right?

Trailing after the nearly visible smog of wondrous odors, the manti-ghoul spied something ODD in the distance. Was that... a WALKING picnic basket?! She sped up, her footfalls getting louder. A tiny bit of drool shone at the corner of her mouth. Yes, she'd catch it. Nothing like a little exercise before exercise, after all.

There was this moment right out of the horror movies, where the footsteps echoed in Roch's ears and he knew that something horrible was about to happen. He turned, seeing the manticore, and--Y2 or not--knew when it was a good time to RUN.

The punk boil kicked up his speed, looking for someplace to hide from the monster--there! There was the gym! He was off like a shot, not realizing that the flap of his hamper was bobbing up and down with the running until a taco dropped from its mouth onto the ground.

"Jaaaaccck!!" he cursed, going through the door--

Her prey was running. There was suddenly chaos, as the basket yelped and ran for the gym doors. It yelped? but no matter, because Cady was almost there, ALMOST-

Taco.

But it was too late, she was already running full force, and she couldn't stop to scoop up the tasty treat. Instead, she planted one foot squarely on it. With a satisfying CRUNCH, the miraculous mexican-morsel-turned-missile caused her foot to slide backward and-

Cady caught the door with her face, before the rest of her tumbled in after.

The door hit Roch in the hamper and he fell forward, watching in horror as all of his food went flying over his head, scattering over the ground. "My... LUNCH!" he bellowed, scrambling forward and grabbing the pie that had fallen flaky crust side down. He turned, throwing the pie straight at the manticore's face. "You dumped it, you idiot!"

The idiot in question managed to pull herself to her knees-

Just in time to receive a pie to the face. Mmmm, was that eyescream filling? Or was it scareberry? It was kind of hard to tell with it spattered across her face and torso. What a waste of such a good dessert. If she'd known she was attacking a boil and not just an animated food convoy, she might have considered it just desserts.

Too stunned to move, she concentrated instead on eating the pie that was already somewhat in her mouth. She couldn't see anything past the pie tin anyway.

He stopped and stared at her for a moment, his eyes starting to light up as he watched her eating the pie. Would she do that every time? It was-- FUNNY! Snickering, Roch reached down, picking up one of his tacos and aiming it at the pie pan covering her face to see what she did.

Okay, it was sort of a waste of food, but still! A punk had to find entertainment where he got it!

The taco spattered against the back of the pie pan. It was just enough to get gravity to finally kick in, and the rest of the opulent confection flopped sadly into her lap.

Scraping cream out of her eyes, she squinted at the basket. How did it turn into a boil? And...was he armed with FOOD?

Oooohhh, were they playing a game? She scooped up some bits of pie and taco from the ground around her and lobbed it right back.

"Ewwww," Roch said, wiping it off his face before snickering. He got to his feet and grabbed a hamburger, slinging it straight at the manticore as pie filling syrup dripped down his chin and landed on his vest.

Out with the appetizer, and on with the meal! Cady tried to catch the burger with her face. It was probably very graceful, charming, and ladylike.

She managed to catch it, and nearly choked as it slammed into the back of her throat. Eyes watering, she swallowed it whole and then reopened her maw, for all the world looking like a happy dog waiting for another treat.

It was not an inaccurate comparison.

"Good catch!!" he called, grabbing a half filled carton of french flies. He threw them across the gym, seeing them fly out of the carton and hit various places on the ghoul. How many could she catch??

OH JACK, SO MANY FLIES! Cady dived forward- which was the opposite of effective, as she managed to only nab a few. The rest scattered onto the floor where she'd been sitting before.

Her tummy was starting to hurt, though. Was she finally full?

"You're lookin uh... a little green," Roch said, now worrying about his food catcher buddy. "Lemme try this," he told her, holding out his hand and summoning his guitar. "Maybe I can help you feel better."

He moved closer, pulling the strap over his shoulder and playing the C chord. He could feel it work this time, healing the ghoul. It made him grin.

Cady's been healed for 10hp!

And suddenly, the ghoul found that she DID feel a lot better. Cady rubbed her stomach appreciatively.

"I don't think food and exercise was such a good idea after all, I guess. You know, like, I think my inside bits got a bit too rattled up." She grinned sheepishly, showing off some rather pie-incrusted incisors.

Suddenly, she made a somewhat embarrassing connection. "I. Uh. Sorry about your um, food. I thought you were a walking pic-a-nic basket. I didn't know there was like, a boil attached. You know, there is this very nice ghoul named Claire who has a Freedge in her room and might share!" Cady, always being super helpful to her fellow man.

"Nah, it's fine," Roch said, shrugging. "There's still a good dozen tacos left and a few burgers, a carton of flies--" he listed off as he picked up his hamper and looked in. "Another pie, and... eh, I'll survive!"

Yes, he'd just said that. He grinned at her. "But seriously, we should run before the gnomes catch us--they'll have our asses if we're not careful!" Then he slipped his hamper on his back and took off, disappearing with his shadow step as soon as he was out the door.

No gnomes for him today, thank you!
