Field Spell Cards were the basis for many decks in the past and made them really strong but my question is; Are Field Spell Cards still good in competitive play or are they becoming obsolete like so many other things?

I'm not the field spell type. I think that field spells are weak sauce until it supports with draw power, control, and/or synchroing. There are some cards that involve the following effects but those decks are inconsistent, or hasn't been released yet. My favorite field spell would either be the naturia one, or geartown.

Don't forget good old Necrovalley. Gravekeeper's may not be much for major tournament play but they can most certainly demolish some locals.

Zombie World, Future Visions, and Mausoleum of the Emperor still see some play, do they not?

yes, Necrovally stops lots of decks Synchrons, Naturia, Plant, ect
Mausoleum is useful, but will likely backfire
Gear Town it will never go away, but slightly crippled by lose of Heavy

for people who like beast decks, the new Closed Forest coming out will be great. it prevents other field spells from being activated too.

Really depends on the deck. Field spells like Yami are pretty useless nowadays, but in decks like "Earthbound immortal" or "Malefic/sin" they are vital to success.

well earthbound immortals are pretty beast and they require feild spells...
necrovalley is an awsome feild spell and combined with barrier it makes it that much mor douchy to use against people.. specialy when they have to waste an effect or mst just to rid themselves of it..
ancient forrest is another op spell that works great for glads...
and crystal beasts... although not a meta type of deck... still run pretty good with there field spell.... usualy once played.. theres nothing you can do if they can keep cycling pegasus...
