My goldfish Phabio.
I bought a tank from Wal-Mart and it came with all sorts of goodies.
He is on my desk.
I wish I could post pics but i don't have a camera.
I like the trickling sound the filter makes.

He like the filter.
He keeps trying to swim up the overflow.

Thats cool, what kind of fish is he?

I know this probably isn't a good thing for me to be saying, but when I saw the fish's name, I started cracking up, because it reminds me of Fabio.

So he's kinda like Nemo, trying to get into the overflow?

Yeah, that's where I got the name, he has a thing for overflows.
Kinda why I bought him, he kept trying to swim into the filter at Pets Mart.

Fish can live for years, some as long as a human.
As long as you take care of it you really don't have much to worry about.

@_@ My current goldfish have lived for about 5 years so far. The set before them lived about 7 years until my dad killed them.

I have a mostly white goldfish named Tickler. He can't swim very well. x[

A goldfish can live up to fifty years and get up to twenty four inches.

They are amazing little buggers.
What did your dad do to your last set?

WHAT?! Fish can live THAT long?!?!

My family once got nine fish. The next morning, eight were dead. That day we got to more. One of them died after a week, and the other got eaten by that one remaining fish from before. We decided to call him "Killer". Then he died like a year later.

Fish can outlive humans if cared for properly.
They are amazing creatures.
I think when Phabio out grows his tank, I'll have to buy him a new one and I'll turn my old one into a community fish tank.

My guesses as to why that happened:
Shock
Overcrowding.

You see, there are certain bacteria that fish need. It's best to let a friend's filter in your tank for a day or so, to properly cycle the tank. this way, if the fish are all properly placed in the correct amount of water, they don't go into that shock. Killed and revived one of my fish 6 times (he kept dying then living and dying. it was so weird.). Goldfish are incredibly messy and it takes them an extra day or two of cycling to be able to survive in an initial tank.

Goldfish, which is what I'm assuming you're talking about, need large amounts of room. About 40 gallons for the first fish, and an added 10 (I think) for the rest. Overcrowding can make them territorial, which is what I'm venturing happened.
