The idea of Self-Destruct Button is normally the scenario where the player turns all 3 duels of a match into a tie. It then forces them into a fourth duel, where either the first person to deal damage wins, or the one with the most Life Points by the end of the match wins. Thus, the Self-Destruct Button player sides in burn.
He was told bluntly that he would be disqualified for playing Self-Destruct Button, not due to it being a tournament-illegal issue, but an issue for any and all judges having to stress over players taking advantage of game procedure.
This was to have been a very common issue for judges. Yet, they work the tournament, the players do not. That is why no player who has ever tried this method has ever topped a regional or other high-stake events.

My Problem was not the Disqualification part. It's a simple idea that every player should understand. Self-Destruct Button hasn't been banned so it is legally playable and no player should ever be disqualified for playing it. If it was such a problem then the card should be added to the Ban list and end the issue entirely. That is my opinion on that issue.
Now, my real issue here is a pretty simple one;
A Match consists of 3 Duels. If you tie the first two duels and win the last one, you win the match. Simple as that. That is how it was when I started playing and I don't see why it would be any different now.

yes, if you have 2 draws and a win then you win the duel. usually in tournament play though, people that focus on self-destruct button don't play like that. they will continue to force a draw match until the last minute then side in their win condition(burn from what i've heard) and win due to end of round procedures.
eor procedure: finish the current turn then there are 3 more turns. who ever has the highest lp at the end of the 3rd turn, wins. if lp are tied, continue until a change in lp occurs and the turn ends.

Tsukinoki if u ask me if that happens where 3 times tied then sudden death duel where each player has 1 LP lol as for self-destruct button. yeah i agree if they dont want problems over it just banned the damn card. unfortunately(or is it fortunately?) sdb doesn't win enough to earn a ban and judges can't ban players from tournament for the kind of deck they use(locals excluded from this statement).

Has no-one here read the tournament policy? In a YuGiOh tournament it is the first to 2 wins that wins the match. If you draw 3 times you keep playing until someone gets two wins or time is called. Remember, it's first to two wins, there is no limit on the amount of duels.
P.S. His idea is flawed by the way. He can use the deck to stall for time but when time is called he won't be allowed to side deck and therefore cannot change to a burn deck.
