Metagame = A Standardized Method of Gameplay in a given area.
For example; one city could have players that lean toward OTK strategies while another city leans toward control decks.

example of metagame: my local tournaments are usually swarmed with Lightsworn and Gladiator Beasts, with the occasional Rock Stun deck, which i can hold my own against with my Synchro Control deck
