The show stars Shin Hayata, a member of the Japanese branch of the France-based international organization called the Science Patrol. Unknown to his coworkers, he has an item called the Beta Capsule which enables him to become Ultraman, a giant superpowered alien from a planet called the "Land of Light" in Nebula M78. That is a good thing, as the Science Patrol encounters giant monsters both Earth-born and alien.
