I bought the 2002 version on DVD and it's just as awesome as I remember it being when I first saw it.

Good writing, plenty of references to the old show that veteran fans will enjoy, and for once, Prince Adam is at least 5 years younger than He-Man so nobody would notice the resemblance. And Cringer didn't talk (Cats/tigers lack the vocal chord and mouth structure necessary for human speech). I call the last two details improvements.

I'm surprised so many veteran fans seem to prefer the original. I tried to give the 1980's version a chance but the writing was typical of the 1980's (i.e. the usual "kids will watch anything" material) and WTF? How come nobody noticed Prince Adam and He-Man looked identical in the old version?

The reasons for the 2002 version's cancellation were bad toy sales and a bad time slot. The show itself was awesome.

I guess there aren't any other He-Man fans here.

Either that, or everyone else is stricken with nostalgia blindness.

I've been thinking... maybe I should stop specifying the 2002 remake, even though it's the only version I've watched since I can't stand the blatant camp of the 80's version...

So, any reasons for preferring the 1980's version other than nostalgia? Though the truth is that I've kinda been avoiding the 1980's version for a variety of reasons. sweatdrop
