Chapter One
A girl laid on a plain wooden bed, lifted her head drowsily from the covers. Her head spun dizzily as she threw off the covers and sat up.
She was in her room.
There was school today.
"That Dream again..." she muttered. She had recurring dreams of herself, walking through dense, white fog aimlessly. "Why...?"
Her head throbbed whenever she thought about it. Groggily, she got up from bed, got dressed for school, and went downstairs.
Her mom and dad were already up, eating breakfast and watching TV.
"Good morning Ichiko."
"Morning, Mom. Morning, Dad." She yawned.
Ichiko seated herself at the table, helping herself to the fresh bread rolls her mother made. Ichiko could hear the TV, the newsman was saying:
"It has already been two years since the digimon have come to the Human world. It is apparent that every child in the world has a digimon partner. However, the reason for the digimon's arrival is still unexplained--"
Bzzt. The channel changed to a soccer channel.
"Dad, did you change the channel?"
"Oh. You were watching that?" He changed back the channel to the news, but they were already talking about the weather.
"Never mind dad, you can change it." She stuffed another roll into her mouth.
Ichiko was probably the only kid on earth who didn't have a digimon partner. Two years ago, when the digimon first appeared, they all chose human partners. Back then, Ichiko was twelve and also left partner-less. Even though she didn't have a partner, she always told herself the wasn't a digimon that suited her yet.
But because she didn't have a partner, she became somewhat of an outcast at school.
She truly wanted a partner, and that's all she could wish for.
