Waking Up in Vegas

Katy Perry
One Of The Boys
Waking Up In Vegas
You gotta help me out
It's all a blur last night
We need a taxi 'cause your hung over and I'm broke

I lost my fake ID
But you lost the motel key
Spare me your freakin'
Dirty looks now don't blame me

You wanna cash out
And get the hell outta town
Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me

Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas

Why are these lights so bright
Did we get hitched last night
Dressed up like Elvis
Why am I wearing your class ring
Don't call your mother
'Cause now we're partners in crime

Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas

You got me into this
Information over load
Situation lost control
Send out an S.O.S.
And get some cash out
We're gonna tear up the town

Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Remember what you told me
Remember what you told me told me told me

oooooo yeah

Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas

That's what you get baby
Shake the glitter
Shake shake shake the glitter
Get me some cash out baby
Get me some cash out baby

Vegas is known for many things but it is mostly known as the city that never sleeps and what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. For a group of girls right out of college, they thought the same thing. There mission was to party and have no regrets, use their money to get more money and just celebrate.

The first night in Vegas, everything was perfect. The lights were bright, the streets were busy and it's rhythm hadn't changed a bit. The girls quickly checked into their rooms and hit the casinos. Life as they knew it was great and wild. No worries whatsoever. That is until the next morning.

The room is trashed and the girls are missing one of their friends. The girl wakes up to find she is in a more expensive suite. There's a bag of money on a chair next to her bed a bright silver ring is on her left hand, and there is a certain man sleeping soundly next to her. To her luck, she knows exactly who he is. Now how is she going to tell her fiance that she got married to his younger brother?

What I do for a living--Magazine Journalist

My life has always been different when compared to some: Growing up, I wasn't like everyone else in the neighborhood. All the kids wanted to be astronauts, ballerinas and police officers. But I wanted to work in the city. I didn't know what at the time but I knew, somehow, I was meant for the city. By the time I was in high school, I realized my gift for writing and wanted to become a magazine editor. After college, I used my best references and soon got a job at Beautique Magazine. The top and best magazine in the country.
—I came to Vegas because-- My girlfriends wanted to take me out to celebrate my engagement to the most wonderful man in the world. James and I met on a blind date although I was supposed to be his best friend's date. He proposed to me months later and my girlfriends practically kidnapped me, with James knowing of course, to Las Vegas where we could have my bachelorette party.
Other: I've never had alcohol in my life. Well, I've had a little bit but never had a lot because I never had a need for it. James was always my shoulder to cry on. Did I mention that I never back down from a bet or a competition?

--I am called-- Eric Holland

What I do for a living--Actor

My life has always been different when compared to some: I grew up in the Hills in California. I went to the tops schools, and when I was younger I loved to be one of the crowd. I was always popular in high school and had everything I needed...and wanted. But, I did have my setbacks. Once I was out on my own trying to make it as an actor was tough, but one day, opportunity knocked at my door and I've been following it ever since.
—I came to Vegas because-- Why am I in Vegas? I'm here because my brother asked me to "protect" his fiance from any unwelcome by standers. Whatever that means.

Other: Although I'm a budding actor I'm still a down-to-earth kind of guy and I'm always up for whatever life has to throw at me. I always like to think I'm no better than anyone else and I'm not stuck up. I'm just your regular type of guy!

Rules: I know everyone hates them.

1. Please be literate.
2. NO ONE LINERS!!!!! If you do one liners then I do one liners and I hate that.
3. If you don't fill out the profile I have set up and send me a simpler profile then I don't want to roleplay with you. This tells me that you aren't a literate roleplayer.
4. For the love of all that is good PLEASE no emo depressing guys who cry a lot. emo depressing people in rp's drive me insane. I hate those. Most of the time, men do NOT cry. They may get pissed but they do not cry.
5. Ignore rule 8 and put "Situation Lost Control" in the pm subject so I know that you have read all of this.
6. No text speaking please. I don't mind a little grammar mistakes. In fact, I make them sometimes too since I tend to type fast. But I don't want to see a misspelled word on every other word, especially if they're real simple words like "the, and, but" that sort of thing.
7. My limits don't go very far. Kissing is really all I do and then a time skip to the next morning. I just like to concentrate on the story more than the action.
8. PM me with "Waking Up in Vegas" so I know that you've read this.

The bright rays of sunlight shot through my window as if they were nothing. It usually didn't take much to wake me up in the morning. That's what I hated about my body. I could never fully get a good night's sleep. The night before was still a blur to me in my sleepy state. I rolled out of bed and tried to rub the sleep out of my eyes. That's when it hit me. A tiny diamond ring had made it's home on my left hand. I was getting married to the most wonderful man in the world.

James Holland was my one true love. I felt lucky to have such a man in my life everyday. The man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. He had thought the same so much that he had finally, after four long months, proposed to me. The ring was only a reminder but what a reminder it was indeed. All I could think about was James and our future together. It didn't even occur to me that I was going to be late for work. "Work!" I gasped before realizing something else. "The meeting!"

Today Beautique Magazine was having a meeting unlike any other. The date had been set for weeks with the head boss himself. I had never really met the guy but it didn't take an intern to know what people said about him. Mr. Falconry was the toughest man on the planet and I had a meeting with him about my work. James had assured me that it was a guaranteed promotion but my darling fiance didn't understand that Mr. Falconry fired people more then he hired them let alone promote them. My stress level was so high I didn't even realize that I had done my usual routine in less than fifteen minutes. If that was all possible.

"Good morning." A soft voice started me as I walked into the kitchen. James stood in front of me with a tray of freshly made breakfast.

"James! Holy Mother of Pearl! You scared the b-gebbers out of me." I tried to stay angry but who could with that face. "How did you get in?" James set the tray down and lifted up the apartment key I had given him just a few days ago. "Ah, right." I smiled. Apparently, the meeting wasn't the only thing that had passed my mind. James kissed me softly and guided me to a seat. I really didn't have time but the food looked so good. "Honey I really-" James placed his fingers over my mouth to shush me.

"I know you have the big meeting today. And I also know that it's not for another hour and it takes you half an hour to get there if you take the subway. Which I know you will because I know you so much." I sighed and shook my head out of amazement. It was incredible how much we knew each other right off the back.

James worked as a free lance photographer. He would learn stories and sell his pictures to anyone who wanted them. Lucky for him, they all wanted his photos. Which would explain his no rush to "go to work." It appeared I was the only one in need of rushing. A few times, I nearly choked on my food because I was in such a rush. I had to make a good impression. My job practically depended on it. Before James could say anymore to me, I kissed his head and nearly ran out the door. For all I knew, my life was changing and I was going to welcome everything in open arms. Little did I know that I was, soon, going to eat my own words.

I sat on the side of my bed in my boxers as I ran my hand through my hair. The sun was beaming in through my window like a fluorescent light in an interrogation room. My head was pounding and the aspirin I had just taken were not being of much help. It was like I had been hit in the head with a metal bat. I should have known better last night than to drink so much.

And to top all things, the noise from the outside commuters on the New York roads were just as loud as ever. The phone rang, adding to the pounding in my head. I looked to it and groaning, answered.

"Hey Tracy." It was my producer calling yet again. She always called...everyday...as if I were really interested in her. I already had another girl on my mind that would not go away.

"Did you forget about the photo shoot this morning Eric? It's almost 11:00. Get your butt down here, and fast! You've got 20 minutes to be at this shoot or the deal is off. I love you babes, but you have got to learn to be with it. You'll never make it as the actor I know you'll be if you don't get on the ball!"

Before I could even say anything, she was already gone. I swear she gets on my nerves sometimes. Her high-pitched voice, her 20 inch stilettos and her fake boob job were all sickening to me. As I stepped onto the cold floor of my apartment, my body went into cold shock. I shivered for a few minutes then shook it off. Brushing my teeth quickly and washing my face I dressed and headed out the door with my messenger bag and a piece of toast in my mouth.

I had to make a mad dash for the studio on foot if I wanted to make it on time.

I began my career as an actor about two years ago. I'm still not famous but I'm on the road to everlasting success, I can feel it. I have already appeared in movies of low budget standings, which is where every actor has started out from the point of view I'm looking at. Things for me just couldn't be any better right now.

As I neared the doors of the studio, the watch on my wrist was just ticking to 11:20. I made it. Tracy stood by the cameraman with a huge grin on her face. She hurried to me, taking my arm as if I were a kind of puppy.

"I just knew you would make it hon," she smiled to me. "Now, give me your things and let's get this over with!"

As James had predicted, I took the subway and got to the office in the nick of time. Mr. Falconry hadn't even shown up yet, thankfully. As I walked into my office, my best friend Rachel was waiting for me. "Good morning." She smiled wickedly. Either she wanted something or something wicked was brewing in her mind. Lucky for me it would soon be both.

"Morning," I said cautiously as I set my back down. She was sitting and waiting in my chair for the update. The day before I had told her of the dinner plans James and I had. Neither of us knew of the proposal but we could both guess as to where he had taken me for dinner. "How are you?" I asked slowly.

"Cut the chit chat, Mel. Did you get it or not? Because if he didn't then-" I stopped her right there as I held my hand in the air and showed her the ring.

"You mean this old thing?" I said coyly. Rachel jumped out of her seat and took my hand to get a better look. Obviously, she approved. "There's one more thing." I bit my lip not knowing how to ask her but knowing she would more than willingly accept. Rachel looked up at as she waited. Her expression was of shock as her eyes suddenly turned to my stomach. I gasped and slammed her. "Don't even go there. You know for a fact that he doesn't sleep over. OR vise versa." I pointed.

"Then what else am I going to think?" She shrugged and put my hand down. I took in a deep breath and held onto her shoulders as I looked her sternly in the eye.

"Rachel Bartolomeo. Will you do the honors of being my Maid of Honor, including taking on the responsibilities as such?" I didn't need to go on as she embraced me in a giant hug. Her cheeks already soaked in tears. "Does this mean yes?" I teased.

"Of course it does. I'm just so honored you would pick me. Oh! That gives me an idea. I have to go make some phone calls." Rachel wiped her tears and headed out the door as she added, "We'll do lunch!" She waved her hand goodbye and I took my spot behind my desk. Now it was time to distract myself for what was to come with the head boss. At the moment, I had to finish my piece on the latest fashion show. Even if my mind wanted to go else where at the moment.

I ran my fingers through my hair, ruffling it a bit as I sat on the couch with my water bottle in my other hand which hung loosely beside me. I had just finished my photo shoot and my eyes were still stinging from all the pictures. I was to star in a horror flick which would begin shooting in a month. I didn't know at the moment if I should be rejoicing or wallowing in my own self-pity.

Tracy came up to me, sitting beside me on the couch. Her head seemed to find it's way to my chest and her hand to my hand within a matter of minutes from her sitting down. She disgusted me, but I wouldn't let her know that. It would hurt her feelings. I mean, it wouldn't be that bad if she wasn't always throwing herself on me, because she was a very attractive woman.

"You were wonderful out there hon," she said to me, soothingly. "I know you're gonna be just great in that movie. You're gonna have to put on some more muscle than this though, or they're not gonna be able to use you."

Nodding, I took the cap off of my water and guzzled it down. I was so thirsty.

"So, I'll hit the gym tonight," I replied, smiling after a deep breath of air. "But only because you recommended it. And, lay off will you."

I took her arms and put them by her side, and slid over to the far end of the couch. My cell started to ring and I looked to my pocket. Fishing it out, I looked at the caller ID. Randy.

"Hey dude, what's up?" I answered. "Let me call you back. I'm kinda busy right now."

It was very rare that I turned down my best bud, but in the presence of Tracy, you didn't accept phone calls in her face. The producer came up to us, his suite looked to be just right for him and his shades were so dark you couldn't even tell he had eyes. His fingers and wrists were adorned in jewelry and his shoes shined bright when hit by the sunlight.

"We here to do business or we here to sit around?" he chuckled, holding out his hand to me. "The name's Chuck," he introduced.

"Eric," I introduced myself. "Nice to meet you 'Chuck'?"

"Oh finally!" Tracy exclaimed. "So, what's the deal?"

"Come into my office and we'll discuss it all," Chuck offered, motioning effortlessly to a door that had his name engraved on it. Gold, impressive.

Being taken by Tracy, we entered the room. I felt important as of now, but in a few minutes I was probably going to be drooling over myself while Tracy and Chuck talked "The Talk."

PostPosted: Sat May 23, 2009 6:40 pm
A gentle knock sounded on my door. I looked up from the computer screen and noticed a woman stepping into my office. She was slim in her feminine suit but remained professional. An ear piece clung to her ear as if it was part of her. No doubt she never took it off. "No, I told you now is not a good time. Mr. Falconry will see you when he sees you. We'll have someone contact you no later than this week." I raised my eyebrows as it seemed she was talking to me.

"Pardon?" The woman clicked a button on her ear piece and turned back toward me.

"Mr. Falconry will see you now in his office." I blinked at her a few times, not sure if that was directed at me or someone on her ear piece. I was still confused if the first thing she said was for me or not. "You are Melina Garcia are you not?"

"What? No, I mean yes. That's me. I just-" The woman's blank expression towards me made me feel insecure and stupid for even saying more than I really needed to. A simple 'yes' would have sufficed evidently. "Right. I'll just follow you then." I quickly got up and her to uncharted waters. Not only was Mr. Falconry the owner of the company, but he had everything a person could ever really want. His office was on the top floor of the building with a perfect view of the city. Correction. His office was the entire top floor of the building. Mr. Falconry was not a person to mess around with. He has assistance for his assistance for his assistance. On this floor, anyone who worked this close to him was at the top of the food chain and above everyone else.

The elevator dinged as it stopped at our destination. My hands and my forehead seemed to be perspiring at the same time along with a giant knot tied in the middle of my chest. I was on the verge of having an anxiety attack. And I wasn't normally prone to those. One word kept hitting my mind like an arrow to a bullseye. Fired. Fired. Fired.

My career was over and Mr. Falconry would make sure that I would never work in any fashion magazine anywhere in the world. He was that powerful. The female suit opened one of the double doors and asked me to wait in side. Mr. Falconry was going over some last minute details. I imagined they were my final notice papers. Somehow, I had something to do with the decreasing in the magazine. Something was my fault and I was being punished for it. Problem was I didn't know what the something was so I couldn't come up with an explanation. I would have to improvise if he would allow me to.

The five minute wait felt like a century of my life. Both double doors swung open and a very professional man walked in. Everything he wore was a name brand. Cheap never touched his body. Not even the word touched him. His black Armani suit fit him like a glove along with his black Neal Santelmann shoes. The most expensive shoes ever made for anyone. The gentleman stopped in front of me. It was hard to read his expression as his eyes met mine. I couldn't tell if he was angry, curious or worried. Either way it didn't seem good. The man lifted his hand as if he were to strike me and waved for his assistance to come over. This time another gentleman in a suit opened his clipboard of notes ready to right down his first order. "A towel, a glass of water, a cappuccino and a bowl of mixed fruit. Now." The man with the clipboard nodded and was out the door in seconds. The Armani man, who I assumed to be Mr. Falconry, walked around the desk but did not sit down. Instead, he stared out the window as he looked down at everyone on the streets.

"Miss Garcia, you have worked here for" A silent pause. I expected him to finish but he never did. Only then was it confirmed that he expected me to finish.

"Five months." I almost said 'your highness' but I knew that would be pushing it.

"And yet you have managed to, not only increase the number of our magazine sold in this city, but also in this country." A bowl of fruit, a glass of water and a white towel were handed to me out of surprise. Apparently, you had to be fast and always prompt when becoming Mr. Falconry's assistant. I thanked the man as he had moved on to hand over the cappuccino to Mr. Falconry. "Thank you, Jeffery. Ms. Garcia it has also come to my attention that you cannot continue your progress in your current office." My heart nearly sank in my chest. Here it was. My death sentence. The fruit and the water were my last meal in this building and the towel was for my tears. The man turned around and sat at his desk. This time he had a look of extreme worry. "Ms. Garcia, are you alright?" I simply nodded. I feared that if I said anything I would start crying even before he told me my career was over.

"Ms. Garcia please calm down. There is no need for hyperventilation. I don't see why you're getting yourself worked up. Before I continue, I would ask that you please drink some water and eat some fruit before you faint. Oh, and the towel is for the sweat." He whispered the last part and waited. I sipped the water but ended up gulping down the whole thing. It wasn't until the first sip did I realize how thirsty I was. Mr. Falconry sipped his drink as he watched me carefully. Several times he even had to instruct me to slow down as I ate the fruit. There was no hurry. Easy for him to say. I was preparing myself for the worst and I wanted to run to James as fast as possible. He could make anything better.

"Now, are you feeling better?" He asked when I had was done.

"Yes, sir. I'm sorry. Please continue." My voice was heard and yet it was so small.

"Thank you. Now, as I was saying, these past five months I have noticed a remarkable change in the magazine. There's more life, more color, and I'm not just talking about the new photographer I hired. Your boyfriend, as I do recall."

"Fiance, actually." I felt horrible for correcting the big man himself. But Mr. Falconry just smiled and nodded.

"Ah, congratulations. Yes, your fiance. Wonderful photographer. But he's not the reason why you're in my office." He folded his hands on his desk and leaned forward. I could sense it again. Fired. "It would seem that you need your own section in the magazine. Something to call your own." My mouth nearly hit the floor.

"Are you serious?" I found myself asking only to soon regret it.

"Of course, Ms. Garcia. I never kid. If it's one thing I am, it's serious. Now do you want the job or not?" I practically jumped out of my seat.

"Of course I want it. Yes, thank you sir. I won't let you down. I promise." After that, I was excused. Thankfully, Rachel was the first one I got to. Currently, she was on the phone when she noticed me.

"Oh hold on, James. Melina's back from her meeting." She said into the receiver.

"And what are you going talking to my fiance?" I asked.

"Going over some business. Now what happened?" She asked. I told her every detail. Down to the female suit who was more uptight than her outfit. As I was talking to her, she had put James on speakerphone so he could hear the entire story.

"That's great baby. We have to celebrate tonight. You and me. Sorry, Rachel." He chuckled.

"Yeah I hear ya." Rachel sighed and shook her head. The stress was gone and I ready to continue with my life. It was all begining to look perfect.

I was sweating like a pig! I was so nervous I didn't know what to do. My role in the movie was just now being cast right in front of my eyes and straight to my own ears without hesitation. My palms seemed to be heavily perspiring, so I wiped them on my jeans. Luckily, they weren't sweating enough to leave even darker marks that would have gone noticed. And oh boy, let me not get started on my feet. I promise if I took my shoes off a river of foot sweat would leak out of them.

I didn't want Tracy or Chuck to know that I was nervous so I just smiled and nodded my head; occasionally saying "Oh really?" or "That's interesting." Or, "I see." Things were going great, I knew, but I was afraid of being cast as one of the zombies or the killers. To be honest I though myself to innocently adorable to be a killer. But that's when I heard it, the dreaded news I had feared. The word killer and casting had come up in the same sentence. I didn't want to be the killer, that was no fun.

"So how do you say to being the last man standing with the lovely brunette?" Chuck questioned me. I exhaled with laughter on my breath. I thought it was funny really. Last man standing, yeah, with a broken shoulder and knee cap maybe. I had seen this man's movies and there had never been a survivor to date! This was going to be fun.

"I would love that!" I exclaimed, nearly jumping out of my seat. It was time for me to get in some serious ninja action I though, and to my surprise I was correct.

"Well, then it's settled. You'll have the lead role of the boyfriend of our star lady. Her name's Delilah Tanner and she's rather the looker if I may say so myself," Chuck said, winking one eye repetitively. "But anyway, you're gonna have to take a few self defense classes and martial arts instructions for a few scenes in the movie."

"Any why is this?" I asked, trying to sit still in my chair.

"Well," Tracy butted in," Your character's role is an outgoing sports type who instructs self-defense classes and martial arts. He's the people person type which is why Chuck here felt you the best match for the part!"

I looked at her and nodded, smiling. I was happy. It would be cool to take classes and train with a specialist. I loved things like that. Acting was my calling, I knew that, but who knew it would get me these kinds of connective actions! Man, this was going to be greatly worth the agony I had been putting myself though. Staring in one of the most famous and widely known directors and producers' films, all expense payed lessons, new pad, a car...things were going just smooth.

"Your first check will be deposited into your banking account promptly at 12 noon on Friday," Tracy told me, patting me on the back. She didn't even look at me. She was messing with her Blackberry again. Punching in important dates I guessed.

"Son, don't let me down. I'm expecting more outta you since your Tracy's little protege," Chuck bellowed with laughter. He had come to stand by my side. He slapped me on the back, hard. I tried not to wince, so I laughed it off instead. He had a strong left hit, which meant an even stronger left hook that was for sure.

"Well, thanks for the opportunity Mr.Chuck," I thanked, standing to my feet. My legs felt like rubber. I was still in shock. "I appreciate this and I promise you won't be disappointed."

"I know I won't son, because if you screw up my movie, I'll screw up that beach boy face of yours," Chuck smiled to me, patting my on the head and ruffling my hair. I gulped. He scared me. A six foot seven man was not one you would want to take on.

"Okay, photo shoot done, interview done, casting and et cetera done," Tracy was rambling. "Now, we need to be on our way to the promo shoot."

"Today!" I exclaimed. I was hungry.

"Yes hon, today. Thanks Chuck! We'll do dinner, you buy!"

Tracy drug me out of the office and handed me a napkin from her purse.
