Do gods get lonely? Could a god who isn't worshiped, perhaps a completely forgotten god become sad and spiteful? I was thinking about it the other day, what if everyone just simply forgot about a god. Does anyone have an answer to this?

Twould depend upon the god in question.

I don't think they get lonely. Perhaps they don't because they get called different names in different cultures, but that would be saying different gods are one in the same between two cultures. . .So I wouldn't say that necessarily, either...But I don't think they get lonely because they're still amongst other gods, depending on the pantheon. If it's just one god, then. . .I'm not all that sure about that.

Sorry. This is more of an "I think" musing than a solid answer. But I decided to tell it anyway.

Now I have this really odd mental image of Odin getting YHVH trashed and tricking him into making accidental euphemisms for everyone's amusement.

A restructuring of my journal caused it to evaporate. Sorry.

I wouldn't think so. It would suggest that Gods are dependent on humans. They're not puppies or children.

I usually tend to think that people who think that they are haven't actually dealt with deities, but instead are more familiar with Deity-Shaped Thought Forms.

But then again, as a person may become very fond of a type of animal, even coming to enjoy their presence over that of their own kind... many anthropomorphic deities have similar to human emotions... or at least present themselves as such.
Some gods may not crave human attention... others might.
When one that desires it is denied it... they may develop divinely proportionate chips on their shoulder.
Other may view human interaction as utterly irrelevant. However, I would imagine those who view us as utter irrelevant, wouldn't bother to make themselves known to us anyway, or hide from us. ninja

If someone could show a theology that subscribes to misotheism, that would be useful. 3nodding

The closest thing I could think of is some Old Norse Pagans rejected their gods (Freya being one of the more notable examples) but there wasn't any commentary on if said deities gave a flying rats a**.

Don't see why that would be assumed to be the case. Some gods have mythology that explains why they became disinterested in human affairs. In other cases, covenants were broken. ~shrugs~ Doesn't mean their mythology didn't survive.

I wonder if there are powerful beings out there that are regarded as deities and are like, "wtf is wrong with you people? Stop effing worshiping me."

My friends have had experiences that amounted to that.

It was... amusing. Thank goodness they are responsible enough to clean up after themselves.
