Personally, I like the old celtic legends of the fey and how the old gods turned into the fey because no-one believed in them any more. They're pretty sad legends particularly the Children of Lir and how when they returned to their father's home no one was left.

But my love of the fey has helped me create the basis of a story I'm hoping to turn into a novel (with any luck - please gods help me!!!) so that people can be taught of the Tuatha and hopefully start new interest in them (though, if it's a work of fantasy people will probably throw it away as such stare )

Remember Buckland wrote a fictional book about witches before his non-fictional release, and now the "Buckland's Blue" is standard fare in most pagan libraries. ~_^

Unseelie sidhe can be truly frightening (a la Galadriel when Frodo offered her the ring) and it's they who I'd be most wary of on Samhain night.

A couple well-known unseelie fae of note( known by the names children gave them)
___Rawhead and bloody bones-a sluagh who was(?) fond of reaching between the steps when children walked downstairs at night.
___Mother Moray--a Lhiannon sidhe who would enter homes at night to drain a baby's blood to bathe her own child in by the hearthfire.

We don't really have any pagan bookshops here so I'm going to have a hard time finding that >.< hope it's worth it 3nodding

The unseelie are very...interesting. I guess it's because the fey have a different outlook on things. To them we're probably just walking entertainment and some are probably out for revenge for what we humans have done to them.

Hmmm, unseelie sound like my kind of fae, perhaps i shall seek them out and befriend them.
Anyways, i have questions.
1. Are fae corporal creatures or are they more ghostlike?
2. How do you contact them?
3. What are your guys personal experiences?

1. Fairies are generally more like spirits, though some have anchors that they are tethered to like a statue or a rose bush they are particularly fond of. MOST fairies you aren't going to see unless you believe... however it was generally believed that fae used to take human babies and leave fairy babies in there stead.. and other theories have been set forth that some fae walk around in human skin so to speak (usually not literally. ^^*)
2. Well, you can leave small things for them in places that they frequent. Doesn't mean they will approach you, but if your intentions are good generally they will do things to make your life more pleasant. You could also try directing your dreams... but that method is a bit more difficult to master.
3. Personal experiences are a bit much to recount. I'll just say they have snatched a few things before, but they have also left me fairy money a few times when I was next to broke and things weren't working out very well finacially. Things like an extra $20 bill appearing in my wallet (even though I've counted it numerous times) has actually happened to me. ^_^*

So how can you find out whether or not there is one nearby, what are some common things they tend to do to make themselves noticed, or unnoticed.

Well, since most fae doen't wish to be seen it's usually more of a feeling than anything else. They tend to congregate around places that inspire people to dream, and avoid places like schools where things feel flat and uninspired.
If they want to be noticed you have to be a bit observant. Usually the seelie will move branches when it isn't windy out, or you might vaugly hear the tinkling of small bells. Those are at least the most common signs that you've garnered a fae's attention. However some of their unseelie brethern might be more likely to move something you just had, cause you minor mischief of some sort, or even give you an overwhelming sense of dread for no apparant reason.

I've had experiences with hearing faint bagpipes instead of bells.

Hmm, well i know for sure that there is some sort of entity in my house, i think its a psychic vampire but it could possibly be a fae. Or maybe its all in my head, i dont know. Currently i'm trying astral projection so that i might be able to see the unseen. I succeeded at it last night but only for a few seconds, i shall try again soon and hopefully get results.

whats your opinion on Ouija boards? Could they be used to contact fae or are they too dangerous. Ive heard so many rumors about the boards that i dont even know what is true about them and what's not.

Hmm, the Otherkin community also has people who believe they are Faes. Their spiritual beliefs and the like are very interesting. I suggest many of you do some research on that but remember to take it all with a grain of salt (just like all information given to you regardless of who it's from). When I first began studying this subject I was very curious to know what types of Faes are in existance and what they truly believe in. I am sure many of you will find it interesting enough. ^_^

The one rumor about the Ouija board I can vouche for is that it can be dangerous if not used properly or if you don't know what you're doing. Don't take my word for it, try it out if you're willing to take such a risk... although I can't say it would be worth it. I've watched my sister and a friend of ours play it for nine years, they had no idea what they were doing nor did they know it's secrets (perse).

I remember the analogy my mom used for an ouija board, "It's like putting up a flyer on a busy street that you are having an open invite party, you never know what is going to show up". Which is, of course why I was never allowed to have one. ^^* From what I've heard though it's not possible to actually bless a board and have it still work right. It's also not really possible to direct specifically who or what will be communicating with you via an ouija board, especially considering some maligent spirits can and will lie pretending to be your dead ____ to get you to pay attention to them and then turn nasty once you've started to trust them.

As for contacting fae....an ouija board is most likely the least likely way of actually getting their attentions. It's more designed to weaken the veil between the spirit world and the material world, and less likely to actually bring you in contact with something living and vibrant like a fae. ^^*
