Ok so, every time that I start to get on a good workout schedule I notice that I end up getting super hungry. Not just a difference in the calories I burned, but like, full-out starving and I end up eating the entire kitchen after a 30-minute run/walk session.

How do I avoid hunger like this? It's so crazy! I eat well and I space out my meals and I definitely eat enough, but when I work out I'm ravenous afterward and pretty much constantly until I give up exercising.

Where am I going wrong, guys?

It's really really frustrating when my mind feels better from exercise but I step on a scale and am up 8 pounds for no reason. I want to start exercising again but I really don't want to gain all that weight, so I'm kind of stuck.

Help!

well I'm not sure, but have you tried any of the 'workout drinks'? Like Gatorade or protein shakes? Because when you work out you burn those
stuffs and ofcourse your body needs something to recover with.. :3

Yeah, but it's like, when I exercise I get permanently hungry or something and then I'm either miserable because I'm eating too much or because I'm hungry when I shouldn't be. >__<

I'm not sure if I should change around my mealtimes to suit when I exercise or what. @_@

I have the same problem. I'll workout for like an hour, eat a meal afterwords, and then still want to eat more. I actually eat more in a day when I workout then when I don't. I hate it. sweatdrop

Keep in mind, your body wants to eat more when it's active, because theoretically, your body doesn't know you want to lose weight. All it knows is that it deals with whatever we put in it, and wants to have enough to maintain itself. It's normal.

But annoying. Your solution should be unique to you, I'll tell you what I think will work for me.

(I just started school again and my school is on the side of a mountain. Thus, many stairs. I also end up walking around a lot and going up to the caff/library and around. I've been eating well in the day but at night I always seem to overeat.)

What I'm going to try to do is eat a little more throughout the day, so that I'm not as ravenous by dinner time.

I get the same kind of thing. I take food with me to have after working out. Something on plan. I eat it afterwards, then i bus home. The bus ride takes 20 mins so if its just hunger from the work out, that usually disipates after those 20 mins. If im still hungry when i get home i eat a s**t load of vegetables mrgreen An entire cucumber has 45 calories (and its crunchy!!), a large carrot has 30 calories, etc etc. You could even add humus to those items and not ruin your diet.

Or you can be sneaky, and try to work out just before you have dinner. So you work out, have dinner and feel full without eating huge amounts

That is a really great idea! I think I'm going to start doing that, and keep myself on the one-plate deal I've been trying to do lately. That way I'll stay on schedule without having to give up exercise.

If I start packing bento boxes for lunch and have lots of protein for dinner I should be able to lose weight and gain muscle. :]

Thank you guys for all of your help!

I've also noticed that if I can't work out before a meal, I try to have a slice (sometimes 2) of reduced calorie, whole wheat bread. It's about 35 calories a slice, and it's got a ton of fiber, so you do feel full.

i do the same thing Auntie, but with rice waffers mrgreen 50 calories for the flavoured ones, i love sour cream and chives flavour mrgreen i get the healtheries brand too, so no MSG or gluten, 92% fat free, they're whole grain and puffy! So they keep hunger pains at bay until dinner/lunch/other planned healthy meal mrgreen
