I suppose having a more tribal flame pattern would be good.. Without pen, paper and a good way to copy the image it's be hard to show you exactly how I mean, but hopefully you'd get the idea.

I'd suggest just normal flame patterns but it would seem too.. well, human..

Ooh, having quickly cheated and googled it, I found this;

Dunno what you think of it, could look stunning in the right colours.

I was thinking along the lines of how Avatars are painted, except using most models. I hadn't thought about the jetbikes as much, though have you seen the potential new models yet?

not seen any new models I'm afraid.
hmm, an easy way I can see you acheiving that fire look [you're thinking more along the lines of magma really wink ]
Go for a black base, paint white or a light foundation paint into the recesses [or thin down said paint and wash the whole model] and then work red into the black higher sections. Paint the recesses yellow and work the reds and yellows together.
I'm aware that's not too clear so if you'd like, I could try making a lil tutorial with photo's?
I don't have eldar so you'd have to cope with maybe a chaos marine or lizardman xp

I posted a link to a photo of the prototype model in the Eldar thread.

I might actually convert cracks into the armor of things like the jetbikes and warwalkers, as if it were cracked magma, and have it shining through, or if not, just paint it as such, like you said.

My paint kit should be arriving tomorrow, and a warwalker in the next week or so, though no camera; however, there -will- be updates soon.

Good news! I got a camera for my birthday, and a pretty dang good one (Nikon Coolpix L1 cool , so I'll be able to have pictures up as soon as I start work, which requires I have an Eldar model here. Like I said, it's currently shipping.

Should be getting glue in a couple of days.

Any conversion ideas for an Eldar Warwalker?

did you mean like this? if so, id have to agree, it would look really cool, and it would probably be easier to paint than trying to make it look like real fire

I was actually thinking for things like jetbikes and such, to have the noses and leading edge of angles and curves to be glowing, red and orange on black, like the nosecones on re-entry vehicles.

Very nicely done, there. Something that might be cool on a more epic model (Autarch?) would be to greenstuff a small magma vent with the actual lava flowing up and over.

DE
im actually in the process of trying to make a rock look like that base basically...
would you mind pming me, or writing it up in my thread, how you might tackle a less.... "flat" surface?
ill be uploading some pictures of said rock right after i post this. and im having some difficulty figuring out how to paint the "edge of rock and fire"
drybrushing would leave cracks far too big.
anyways, thanks in advance

--------------------------
i think the jetbike idea would look really cool, the nose and underside of the bike "in flames"
and the idea of an army with that much effort painting is a feat, id kill myself on the 2nd model knowing all the work i just put into the first, has to be done again... and again, and again lol

The glowing look could be quite simple if you're any good with blending or alot of light layers. Progressive from white to orange, them perhaps the magma like effect towards the rear?

Of course for more normal models you could just go for a heavy magma look [More reds/ oranges then the black you usually see].

And yes neogoths, that's pretty much what I meant 3nodding

Pose wise, alot of movement will be good, but that's just a bit obvious wink
