EDIT: 100% confirmed. What this means is still uncertain. http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/Top-right corner of the OFFICIAL PAGE. This is huge, guys. Regional in Toronto canceled due to this; this could lead to several things. -Loss of current Tournament structure -Change in card distribution DISCUSS.

-EDITED OUT-
I called this number, the Upper Deck help and support line for sanctioned play.
The nice woman on the other side confirmed the article.
This is getting pretty airtight. Apparently a regional in Toronto has already been canceled.
So, yeah. Until Konami says otherwise, SJCs, UDE's judges, Regionals, the entire judging system, ETC, could all be done for.

The thing is, with Konami in the lead we'll be getting OCG stuff alot quicker, which means the US might finally get our Duel Terminals, and those awesome Light/Dark decks from back in the day (common crush card, anyone?) On the other hand, no more exclusives, so good bye epic promos.

Looks to me like someone pulled an elaborate hoax
http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/
At that link you'll find the same page. However, there are three things that make your site unreliable: 1. The fact that the "breaking news from Konami" opens as a PDF file, rather than a legitimate news site, says that anyone could have written it. 2. Try the interactive demo. On the UDE site, it works fine, but on the site you gave, it just says "Demo Under Construction. It is the same with the Tournament location finder in the Sneak Preview link And the Store Locator And Hobby League And Local Tournaments And Regionals Et cetera 3. On the UDE site, the middle link on the final line leads to the Yugioh forums, but on your site it just has a checklist.
If Konami had taken over, one of two things would have happened: 1. A complete server transfer would have been made from UDE, copying the site exactly, or 2. Konami would have made their own new site
There wouldn't be a middle ground, with some things being the same
You got punk'd

Magadi, this has already been confirmed, sorry. Did you not see the part where I-
1) Called UDE's customer service help line 2) Later on, someone who works at UDE confirmed on a message board I frequent that this was correct, but could not officially comment on it.
Feel free to hold your stance as long as you like, though.
BIG scary part about this, though, is that Konami gets control of out tournament scene, and they haven't done a sterling job in Japan with this.
Cards are reprints are nice, though.
EDIT: Apparantly UDE is taking Konami to court on this.
It was filed two days ago, so this is plausible, but I don't know if this source is 100% official.

wow...at least someone had the balls to control it! I dont get any of the promo stuff so i could care less with the exclusive loss...but i just want those damn duel terminals to come out soon over here! then we'll be just one step closer to having REAL duel disks, but that wont be out for a while, i'd give it about 20 years!, and i dont think that the game could last that long!

I wouldn't count on Konami giving a **** about us yet.
Konami never has before, they probably won't start now.
From what I heard, SJC San Francisco was cancelled, and since UDE handled all SJCs and regionals... Konami better pick them up soon for the game to live.
Currently, any regionals happening should be treated as a glorified, unsanctioned locals until this is fixed, if it is true.

Well it seems to be true though I'm waiting to see what UDE has to say. The wannaduel webiste is a UDE site so it may take longer than yugioh-card

Indeed, UDE is being very tight-lipped about this, considering that all their tournament support SHOULD be dropped by now since Konami is taking over.
And considering that, I'm surprised no official statements have been made as to WHY or what this means to the PLAYERS.

We have a lot to find out yet. It's possible that Konami is only taking over the manufacturing and distribution and UDE are still organising tournaments. There's also a chance Konami will allow OCG to be played but I doubt we will see this TCG become a CCG. If Konami to take over the tournament play aswell it's also possible we will see the end of regionals and other mid-class tournaments and it will be more restricted to a national. Then there's the possibility of less UDE promo cards and sets appearing though I don't think that's likely either.
